Many of you have asked for a cheap chic fashion post so here it is. Honestly, I don’t normally shop at Target for clothes other than workout wear. However, Target is the only store I frequent other than the nursery (just recently) and the grocery. I go to Target when the “old folks” can go at 8:00 a.m. I pick up my cosmetics, cleaning supplies, and a few groceries. I always check out the decor section as well (it is my only form of entertainment right now). I ordered the dress online and picked it up in the store. I realize we are going to be going nowhere most if not all of the summer. What I need are some casual clothes that I can wear to the lake. Target had just what I was looking for and I am not kidding. Let’s check out Target LBD Five Ways.
It gets pretty hot at the lake and we always dress super casual unless we are going wine tasting or out to dinner. This knit tank dress is to DIE for. I looked for something similar online at some of the more expensive stores. I just wanted a t-shirt dress that I could throw on after we come off the lake to which I could add a jacket or wrap if needed. I ordered two (make sure you get the right one). They looked similar but one was flattering and the other too long and too sloppy looking. I know it’s Target, not Nieman’s. Here I am styling it like I would at the lake. My favorite Olukai Ho Opio flip flops, and a straw hat. This is how I would wear it at the lake. All items are linked below each picture
All I can say is run don’t walk and order this if it appeals to you. It is comfy, flattering, and the bingo arms go practically unnoticed (well almost). I love it with my ancient Lucky Brand embroidered jean jacket and my Artemis mules. FYI I have not worn them since our conference in San Francisco, but I would if I could get out of the house.
Here I am wearing it with platform tennis shoes from Kohls and a gap white jean jacket. I love the Chuck Taylor Converse (see stylish Kelley in Ageless Style) but they are uncomfortable and don’t accommodate my bunion. I would never wear white canvas tennies in the winter so I thought I would give these a try (super reasonable and pretty darn comfy).
This dress could definitely be dressed up if I had someplace to go. Here I added an old Johnny Was kimono jacket, a pin, and earrings. I think this would be dressy enough for a casual summer wedding don’t you?
If the weather cools in the evening you could add a shawl.
As I was walking to the cash register I spotted this 100% cotton gauze wrap for $20.00. I almost passed it up. I thought this could be worn with the dress, as a swimsuit cover-up or with a pair of jeans. I grabbed it and thought I could bring it back on my next old folks trip to Target if it didn’t work out. I love it. It comes in other colors as well. I am wearing it with a simple black tee and white gap boyfriend jeans (old). You can tie it around the waist, throw it over one shoulder. The possibilities are endless.g
I hope you enjoyed Target LBD five ways. The dress and wrap are winners in my book regardless of the price. Have a great weekend! We are heading to the lake. What do you have planned for the weekend?
