Four Day Getaway:What I Packed, Ate and Wore

Today I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday faves. I just returned from a mini work/vacay. Let’s chat about my Four Day Getaway:What I Packed, Ate and Wore.

Four Day Getaway:What I Packed, Ate and Wore

Where I Have Been

I had the best time—short but so much fun—catching up with my longtime blogging friends Annie from Most Lovely Things and Kris from Driven by Decor during a visit to Mary Ann’s gorgeous Florida home (Classic Casual Home). If you’re not already following Kris, you’re seriously missing out on some of the most brilliant home organization tips and must-have gadgets out there. Do yourself a favor and check out Driven by Decor!

Mary Ann’s recently updated living room made me want to give mine a “spit and polish”!

We drew straws and I was lucky enough to snag this charming guest room.

Four Day Getaway:What I Packed, Ate and Wore

What I Packed and What I Wore

When I travel on a short trip, I like to avoid a checked bag and opt for a carry-on bag, keeping my packing list minimal. I also opt for a neutral-colored capsule wardrobe so whatever I wear can be mixed and matched. I checked out the weather forecast before leaving and realized I needed to plan for sunny weather and rainy days (typical Florida weather). My must-have items and packing for this trip to Florida were minimal: a light jacket (which I never wore), two pairs of shoes, underwear for four days, two pairs of pants, a shirt, a light sweater, two dinner outfits, and a travel outfit that I could wear going and returning. I did not bring a bathing suit due to the weather. I did not pack workout clothes (it would require another pair of shoes); I figured beach walks and bicycle rides would be our exercise. I didn’t opt for any packing cubes because I only took what I would wear.

Travel Days

For my travel days I wore the Belfast jacket and my favorite sweatpants the Catherine from Frank and Eileen, a travel bag (personal item) large enough to hold my laptop, portable charger (which I failed to pack), mini first aid kit, makeup bag, small bag or crossbody bag, and a good book. I never take a travel pillow because sleep eludes me on a plane.

Day Two

I opted for my Frank and Eileen Galway Jeans and Eileen long-sleeved shirt, and flip flops for a walk on the beach.

Out to dinner Night One in this great matching set from Banana Republic. I am tempted to get the white as well.

DAY THREE

Bike riding and lunch in Frank and Eileen.

Dinner Day 3

Banana Republic Romper Tiger Stripe

This jumpsuit was the perfect weight for our last night out, and super comfy (almost like wearing pj’s).

What We Ate

Mary Ann is truly one of the most gracious hostesses and talented entertainers I’ve ever met—she’s the Martha Stewart of Atlantic Beach!

She served this delicious pasta dish that she whipped up in minutes for our first night in Atlantic Beach.

What I am Reading

Santa Barbara and Veranda Magazines

Santa Barbara magazine is such a great local read. This month’s home and garden issue is an especially good one. This month’s Veranda features Brooke and Steve Giannetti’s charming Tennessee home which I will feature next Sunday.

Thank you for reading Four Day Getaway:What I Packed, Ate and Wore. Are you planning and quick getaways soon? I would love to hear about them!

Let’s pop over and visit Mary Ann and Annie. I have a feeling they will be reporting on our trip as well!

  7. I just picked up another Belfast jacket myself, in Irish chocolate. Soooo snuggly! I have yet to find a pair of F&E pants that work with my curvy hips. Ah well.

    1. Hi Chris

I have curvy hips as well. I LOVE the new Wexford in linen. I have the 6 and they are too big. They would be perfect for me in a 4. You might give them a try.

We sure had fun didn’t we? I loved that Sezanne sweater and EF skirt outfit that you wore to dinner…soooo good on you!

  9. Did you shorten the Catherine pants? I am 5’4” and wondering. Also, did you shorten the Galway? I love that jacket and pant combination. The weekend looks wonderful. I enjoy following all of you.

    1. Hi Susan

All you have to do is take a pair of scizzors and cut the hem. That is the beauty of a raw hem!

  10. Cindy- I keep seeing your sight referred as “Rough Luxe” by Mary Ann. I may have missed something along the line but I do not recognize this. Can you bring me up to speed please?

    1. Hi Debbie

My blog was originally called Rough Luxe Lifestyle back in the early days before I started just using my name!
