Curated Collected Interiors, Outfits and More

Today I am joining my pals Annie and Mary Ann for our Sunday favorites. You know how much I appreciate a collected look in my home and my wardrobe, so let’s chat about curated, collected interiors, outfits and more today.

Curated Collected Interiors, Outfits and More

Curated Collected Interiors from French & French

I know I know I have mentioned this cute couple before, but I am just so proud of what they have become. Mary Ann (Classic Casual Home) and I went on the HP Market tour with them many years ago before they were such a hot ticket. I love Santa Fe, we have traveled there many times over the years, but most importantly I admire what the talented French team does with color and pattern. I am not nearly as bold but I am completely infatuated with their layering techniques. I expect a book will be coming soon, if it isn’t already in the works. This is their personal home featured in this article in House Beautiful ,photographed by the talented Jenna Peffley.

French and French Interiors kitchen Santa Fe

This kitchen, with its repurposed vintage island and all the charming details, has completely stolen my heart. Nothing about their design is predictable or mainstream—it’s refreshingly bold and full of personality. I’ll admit, I wouldn’t have the nerve to go all in with pattern and color the way they do, but I absolutely admire their fearless style. Their home exudes that effortlessly curated, collected look that feels uniquely theirs. And how brilliant is the use of copper molds as wall décor? I’d bet that at least some were already part of the owner’s collection, and the ever-creative Heather saw the perfect opportunity to turn them into a stunning gallery wall.

Note how the blue fabric on the backs of the chairs creates interest? Imagine the room without the blue?

Matt an Heather “bring a traditional, folky, eclectic flair with a contemporary edge” to their designs. Study their rooms and learn from them. I have my own style in my home and my wardrobe, but I constantly learn from those who have perfected their craft whatever it may be. When we stop learning and appreciating we risk going stagnant. 12 Foods to Improve Your Gut Health

I don’t know how I started receiving emails from Eating Well but they really have some interesting articles. There were a few foods in this article 12 Foods to Improve your Gut Health that surprised me.

Roasted Pepper and Butternut Squash Soup

I have featured this soup on the blog a couple of times over the years. I absolutely love this soup. Unfortunately, it is not Steve’s favorite, so I don’t make it very often. At any rate, I love it! You can find the recipe on my blog here. We have started purchasing Bread Bike’s Whole Wheat Sourdough locally at Etto Pastificio. It is pricey but lasts a couple weeks. We drizzle it with our homemade olive oil instead of butter. I love bread but try to avoid processed bread.

Curated Collected Outfit of the Week

That wonderful dress/trench/duster that I featured in my post How to Style One Deninm Midi Dress Six Ways was a definite favorite of yours (mine too I am wearing it today). I am not going to contstantly offer you different items but more creative ways to use fewer. I get criticized for this by some for sharing things I already own,

I don’t often wear pattern but leopard is a neutral for me! Last weekend I featured the leopard pants above from Sezanne multiple ways. It got me thinking how great they would look with the denim trench/dress that I love so much. When we did the white denim post, I realized how dark all of my boots are. These gentle soul faves would be great for Spring. Finish it off with a great cashmere sweater from J Crew, accessories from machete, Quince’s fabulours featherweight cashmere scarf, and the bag from Shorty Love that you loved too!!

Moving Forward on the Blog-What You Would Like to Read About and my Plans

I love sharing Sunday Favorites with you all, but I realized that my deep dives were taking away from the quick, easy inspiration I originally intended. So, I’m excited to announce a new format! Every other Tuesday, I’ll be focusing on practical styling tips ( ie how to use one item you already own, or a new one several ways). And once a month, we’ll explore the versatility of a single piece of furniture or decor item. that can be styled multiple ways. Think of it as a little style refresh for your home and wardrobe! Translation I will still feature an outfit of the week on Sunday, a recipe, and who knows what else, but I am going to keep it to a quick quick tidbit as it was originally intended. We will give that a go and see how it works! Also please ask if there is something you would like me to feature. Recently a reader asked about side tables so we covered that. Another reader asked if I could do the same type of post on lamps and I said sure. Someone else recently asked about lipcolor. I just penned a post last fall about the best long lasting lipcolor here, so I probably won’t do another for awhile on that subject. Someone asked about coffee table styling so a post is in the works now. Ask and I will try to deliver!

Presidents Day Sales You Don’t Want to Miss

Spanx

Several of my favorites are on sale at Spanx this weekend. I purchased the black in this top, and am purchasing the ivory as well. I wish they still had the grey! It covers the bum and is a great topper if you have to run errands before or after pilates or the gym.

Athleta-Long Weekend Event up to 60% off Sale + Extra 20% off Sale

This sale a good one. I love Athleta. I recently featured several of their items in my post Best Activewear and Gear for Women Over 50 here. Their signature rib crew top is on super sale., the momentum mock neck top, this wrap in red is on super sale. as is the longer version. I know Mary Ann loves it and I have the red leggings so it is calling my name. I ordered this sweatshirt in a tall and it covers the bum, I am going to order another at this price. My favorite legging is on sale in several colors. They are going fast so don’t hesitate on this one.

That’s it from my desk this week. Thank you for reading Curated Collected Interiors, Outfits and More. I am heading to Haley & Co for a little pop up today. I hope to see you there if you are local. I am bringing treasures from my closet and a ton of pillow covers! Now let’s pop over and visit Annie and Mary Ann for more Sunday fun. What are you up to today?

  1. Hi Cindy,
First, thank you! There is so much more work involved in keeping a blog that is interesting and enjoyable. Your posts are always worthwhile. Back in the day, when I had a blog, it was not as involved, and I merrily wrote mostly about pretty rooms and the like. Keep up the excellent work. I always enjoy my visits to you, Mary Ann and Annie.

  2. I’d love a post on styling a dining room table when not in use. Our fairly traditional home has a dedicated dining room that gets used eight times at most over the year, and I am not a fan of artificial flowers. Sometimes I use a runner that I brought home from the last trip to Bali, and in the summer it’s usually several large split leaf philodendron leaves. Suggestions would be appreciated!

    1. I’m so happy to hear that you will be styling coffee tables. I have a round glass coffee table with black iron legs. I love it but find it hard to style. Hopefully, you can give me some ideas!

    2. Hi Annie

We met them on the HPMKT tour. They are darling and their work is soooo good!

  3. At first I thought the kitchen was done by a French couple until I read more carefully! They are very bold to do the ceiling as they did. I looked back to find your soup recipe to the day when you were Rough Luxe. Question about the bread which you say lasts a couple of weeks. Do you have to freeze it or how do you keep it for that duration? I would love to try it from my local Bike Bread. I think your idea to do less of the deep dives is fair and might give you more freedom in your personal life. You deserve it! And thanks for the fun pop-up experience.

    1. Hi Wren

It is sourdough so it keeps in a bag on the counter. You certainly could freeze it though. I find most bread just makes me hungrier sooner.

  4. Please Please Please!
Don’t stop showing things from your collections…both home and closet!
Just this morning I mentioned to my husband how much that I love your blogs BECAUSE you use treasures from your closet and furniture to create new looks!!
I think you are so very special because you value the past using collections from over the years to make NEW looks!
Cindy this is your real art and strength!
    Thanks for being you!!

  5. I would love a post on different ways to style a fireplace mantle that has artwork above it. I always look forward to your posts!

    1. Hi Suzanne

That is another great post that I have done in the past but need to revisit…on the list! My mantel in this home doesn’t have as many options.

  6. Something you already own is likely to be new to me. I don’t know if it’s new or vintage, just love the inspiration!
You do a great job linking comparable items and even resale options, if something is no longer available at retail, which is much appreciated.

  7. I love the kitchen in that French and French house-the rest is beautiful, but maybe a little too over the top for actually living in for me! Yes, I love that. You are incorporating ways to use things we already have. It’s so easy to just buy something. I find myself clicking on links and then restraining myself from purchasing, it’s just far too easy and I end up having far too many clothes, but really I end up wearing the same things a lot!!! thanks again. I love your blog.

    1. Hi Martha

How is that cute baby? I love that French and French kitchen too..it is one of the better kitchens I have seen. The nature of my business is I will always have too many clothes as I work with brands. I only work with brands whose clothes I will actually wear. We do often have a list to choose from so occasionally there are items that are not my choosing!

  8. Loved what you shared in today’s post! I have an assortment of old copper molds packed away. Maybe I should get them out and display them somewhere!
Looking forward to reading some of those
upcoming tips you mentioned. Thanks for all your hard work!

    1. Hi Carol

I had several molds to Carol and gave them away when I moved! Isn’t that a clever idea? Thank you so much for being a long time reader.

  9. I love that you show items you already own styled different ways. We all need to consume less and your creativity helps me to think of new ways of wearing what I already own. Thank you.

  10. This is really a great post, can’t wait to make the soup perfect for this weather.
That house is so perfect except for blue wallpaper on the ceiling, that’s a focal point which doesn’t leave my eye. Might be better in person.

  11. Dear Cindy I appreciate the effort you take. The French and French look is very interesting and inspiring. Here is San Diego to me the access to antiques and decorating items has been reduced due to changes in properties sold..now big box stores and apartments buildings versus stores with booths where individuals sold their curated items. I used to go weekly to see what was added and found great old mirrors, lovely framed pictures and table items like Imari plates and old china. I am sure these places may be up the Coast.. The two antique shops near me are being turned into a deli…oh well..according to the past owner the next generation isn’t interested so it is nice to see your daughter and her husband are mixing old and new in their home. This adds depth to a place. Thank you again, Donnie

    1. Hi Donnie

I have not found a treasure trove of great antique shops here in CA. Santa Barbara has a few, we have a funky one here where I have bought a few things…I totally understand what you are saying.

  12. Love your blog. I’ve been following you for several years. It’s one of my very favorites. Regarding receiving criticism for posting clothes you already own, I look at your blog (and all other blogs I receive) as inspiration. Occasionally I have purchased items highlighted on a blog, but I prefer to try to use whatever I have, or find something locally that the blog has inspired me to create.
Thank you for your inspirational blog!!

    1. Hi Sharon

We have some wonderful local shops here, and I try to support them when I can!

  13. I am absolutely wild about the French & French designs, thank you for sharing. I love all the color, pattern, and texture.
    The new format sounds fun.

    1. Hi Ellen

I am so glad you enjoy French & French. They have a wonderful collected aesthetic.

  14. I love your posts-why does no one share bras and underwear for aging women as gravity does its thing.
    Just a thought.

  15. I remember meeting the French’s with you (they were so nice)…so happy for their success. Isn’t their skirted island pretty?
That Shorty Love bag would be great for travel…I’m so tempted.

    1. Thanks for including in your posts items you already have in your closet. I find it tiresome and a tad annoying when we’re encouraged to just buy, buy, buy! It’s so much more challenging to bring out from our closets those items we already love and, with your guidance, discover new twists to find imaginative ways to wear them. It’s so fun to add just one or two new items and discover how they transform an outfit. I’m such a fan of your beautiful collection of First Nations jewelry. You bring joy to my mornings.

      1. Hi Ruth

Thank you so much! I have been collecting my native american jewelry for many, many years. Maybe when Kelsey gets her new shop set up I will think about selling a few pieces!!
