Sunday Five-brunch, orange Xmas & no Summer

Hello everyone, happy Sunday.  This Sunday is a little bittersweet for us, more on that further down the post. I am loving the unexpected use of orange for Christmas.  I might give it a go next year.  It’s kind of fun to have a transitional color for Thanksgiving-Christmas don’t you think? Would love your thoughts. Just think you can start decorating at Thanksgiving and get more bang for the buck.  Let’s take a look at what caught my eye this week.  Here is my Sunday Five-brunch, orange Xmas  & no Summer.  I know what a combo.

LOVING THE UNEXPECTED ORANGE FOR CHRISTMAS

I think I might give this concept a shot next year.  It would be a great way to transition your Thanksgiving to Christmas decor. Veranda always has some of the most beautiful Christmas decor ideas. You can subscribe to Veranda here for $6

CHRISTMAS BRUNCH MENU

This was last year’s brunch menu you can find the recipes here.  Our Christmas will be a little different than planned see below, so I am in the process of reconfiguring things.  I will post the recipes next week. Mary Ann shared a great simple brunch menu here, along with a group of other bloggers.

On a brighter note, after Christmas is a great time to shop for Cashmere, as most finally go on sale.  However, look what turned up in my mailbox this a.m from Bloomingdales, a high low cashmere sweater in every color of the rainbow for $69.99.    I put together a look for you with inexpensive but fabulous accessories from Novica,  a great bag on sale at Sundance, and a pair of Artemis loafers (the only pricey item in the group).  You can shop all of their shoes here. Maybe someone special will spring for them! All items are linked below.

So sad to hear that Summer time will not come to Christmas. She is growing up so fast. I so do love that touch of leopard on her shoes! Here’s to a speedy recovery for Summer’s dad and hope you will be able to be together soon. As for the orange holiday decor, I’ll be the Grinch! I hate, hate, hate orange!!!! That will leave more for the orange lovers! I am endlessly fascinated by what colors people love and the passion we chose them. Of course, I am the one who painted my downstairs black!!! Merry Christmas to you and thank you for another year of your lively, lovely blog.

    Hi Cindy,
First and most important, I am so sorry you won’t be able to see Summer on Christmas. FaceTime possible? We’ve had to make that work for us with our Austin grandkids. I hope you’ll be able to see your family soon with the comfort of knowing everyone has had a vaccine.
I absolutely loved this post. Every single room you’ve shared was my kind of decor. I do follow Dylan and love her posts, her home and her great sense of humor.
    Best to you this holiday.
    xo,
    Karen

      Hi Karen

Thank you for the shout out on Instagram! I so appreciate it. We are hoping we can see them New Years, negative test last week and so far neither Jen or Summer have it. Fingers crossed. Boy we will be happy to mark this year off, won’t we? Happy Holidays friend!

      Hi Lauren
I would snap a google image and search. My guess is you will find them on Replacements if they are no longer current!!

Merry Christmas Cindy !! I must say I get excited whenever I see one of your posts. You are my very favorite blogger on all levels and since we are ending this very strange year, it’s time I told you so. I love your home style, your personal style and your attitude toward life. You are never afraid to tell how you recycle your favorites to create your curated and collected style. Can’t wait to see your new abode. Happy New Year…good health, success and happiness to you and your family.

      Hi Carolyn

Thank you so much! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your sweet comment. Happy Holidays to you and your family.

Although I appreciate the designs using orange, I think I’ll stick to a deep red for my decor. When it comes to dressing, I do like some pops or orange, especially with navy and white or camel. BTW, did you notice the height of the candles on the chest in the second picture?
I am doing a super quarantine for 14 days so that I can be with my grandsons, 3 and 6, on Christmas. I am so blessed but feel your sadness at not being able to be with Summer (I’m guessing she’s about 4?).
I want to say thank you for your blog. I just found you recently but look forward to your posts. It’s nice to be connected in this way to you and a couple of other women who are beautiful, bright, creative and stylish. It’s a breath of fresh air during this horrible time.
Merry Christmas, or a merry as it can be, to you and your family. It will be good to be able to say 2020 stunk…..in past tense!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Wren!

Happy Holidays! Believe it or not Summer is two and a half. Her dad is 6’8 so she is the size of a four year old (you had that part right!!) I am so glad you found me as well. We have such a community of vibrant interesting women here. I feel so blessed. Enjoy those grandkids.

Orange is one of my favorite colors and touches are lovely. Not sure about orange curtains. Love the snowflake tree. Variety is the spice of life!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Cindy
I love orange as well I am not very bold when it comes to color and or pattern on investment pieces such as curtains, sofas etc. We can admire them from afar however!!

  6. Mary Ann Pickett says

I’ve been thinking of you and how disappointing it is that you can’t have Summer. I am praying for a speedy recovery for the family.
I need all those orange clothes to wear around my Gator fans (although they keep losing and Howard and Tommy are not happy about it). Great post, Cindy!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Yes the orange for the Gator fans!! I forgot! I am hoping they all stay healthy as well

  7. Suzanne says

It’s been a difficult year all around for families. I won’t go into my personal situation here, but let’s just say it’s been a challenge to my mental and physical health. I hope once the vaccine situation is in motion, we can all get back to a better quality of life. On the orange decor for Christmas, I love it. I have never been a big fan of red and green with my own decor so orange looks great with some of my pieces.. I also always make oranges stuffed with cloves for one of my blue and white bowls. It makes a lovely centerpiece and fragrant as well. It’s also a great project to do with some of the older children and teens.

  8. Bonita GillespIe says

Loved your post. We decorated our living room and tree in indigo grey navy and pumpkin cinnamon colors and we love it! I’d have attached a photo but I was not sure how to,

  9. Joanna says

If you follow Maria Killam, colour expert, she used orange and lime green on one of her trees. I’m not sure I would go that route but I do enjoy it in others homes.

It’s a shame you can’t share Christmas with Summer. Kids make Christmas fun and exciting. Covid has changed what Christmas looks like for most of us. But, you still get to celebrate the season with family and that is a blessing. Mine is across the country and flying is not a safe option.

    Have a Merry Christmas Cindy!

  10. Susan Hermann says

Cindy, thank you for your inspirational posts! I really enjoyed this one with all the orange, the orange sweater and Artemis loafers. Sorry you won’t be able to see your granddaughter this Christmas. Hopefully 2021 will bring some normalcy.
    Peace, health and joy, Susan

  11. Loya Palmer says

So sorry you won’t get to be with your sweet Summer for Christmas, but you will have lots of time with her when everyone is well and times are better. I enjoy your posts and you bring joy to so many during this dark time. Wishing you joy and happiness for the holidays.

  12. Barb says

Hi Cindy! Beautiful choices, as always. I look forward to your Sunday posts. I’m sorry that you’ll miss seeing Summer for Christmas and hope that her dad has a mild case of COVID. It’s so hard to miss these milestones with our grandchildren. We missed our grandson’s first birthday in May. Thankfully, we took a long weekend trip to Tulsa in October (from PA) because our planned holiday trip isn’t happening. I only pray that we can get to Tulsa for his second birthday. We tell ourselves that if we have to miss so much, at least he’s at an age where he won’t remember that we weren’t around. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
