Today I am joining four of my favorite bloggers and we are chatting about fall fashion. I know my blog has bee a little heavy on fashion lately. Next week back to decor. I researched fall fashion trends for women 2020 and guess what came up, bra tops, cropped blazers, doll dresses? Of course, those of us over 50 will not be wearing any of these, but are there some fall fashion trends we can actually wear? Let’s check out the Over 50 Fall Fashion Trends We Can Actually Wear.
A column of color
Here I am wearing a Free People Cashmere tunic with my trusty Spanx faux leather leggings, and my Artemis Design slides. I accessorized the column of black with the Don Lucas necklace that I inherited from my mother in law, a pair of stamped cross earrings that we picked up in Sedona a couple of years ago, and some of my Native American sterling bangles.

Knee High Boots & the Color Caramel
I have never stopped wearing “knee-high” boots. That’s the beauty of being over 50 or 60 we can wear what we want. It is always nice when the fashion gods give you permission, right? This Ganni Turtleneck is new everything else is old. The leather skirt is from Banana Republic years ago. I accessorized with horn and tortoise.

Sunny Colors
Well I cheated on this one a bit. How about colors of the sunset? I started out wearing a brighter shirt with this Anthropologie Scarf and liked it better with the olive. I love wearing scarves in unconventional ways. You might even find this strewn across my table for a casual dinner. I didn’t see scarves on the list. Maybe they are out. Do we care? I got this scarf on sale on Anthro Day. It comes in a multitude of hues and I am crazy about it. It’s perfect for a light layer this time of year. I am wearing it with my concho belt that I have owned for over 30 years (you can find similar on ebay here), a vintage native American pin, and cross earrings.

Animal Print
My niece Laura gave me the idea for this ensemble. I found the free people mesh skirt on Ebay. I picked up the tissue weight turtleneck at Free People for $38. It is a great layering piece. It is very fitted and the neck stays up. Does anyone else get irritated with a floppy neck? The leather jacket is ancient, and I bought the boots (actually comfy) last year at Anthro. They are linked below and still available. I know why they are comfy.

I took this picture for my hairdresser Lynn. The back of my hair usually looks like a rats nest. She would be proud of me !
More Animal Print
I picked this sweater up at Anthropologie on Anthro day as well. I am wearing it with madewell skinny jeans and velvet Birdies. I love the colors in this sweater. It is super soft and comfy. Great for working from home. By the end of the day my gray hair really starts to look grim. I am in need of a keratin treatment to tame it, that’s for certain.

I am always happy when I see Animal Prints are here to stay. I have linked some articles on the latest fall fashion trends below. Most of them made me chuckle. It is always fun to read about what is in and out. The beauty of aging is we don’t really care, do we? We have the wisdom to know what we like, and the sense to know what we look best in. We are comfortable in our own skin at last.

This pandemic and my sister’s death has me thinking about the importance of embracing life to it’s fullest. I have put on a few pounds, hopefully, I will take them off and I have probably spent more time in my jammies than I should. There are a lot of changes coming down the pike for me which I will keep you posted on. In the meantime, we still want to look our best, embrace the changing seasons, and add an item or two to our fall wardrobe for some fun. Thanks for reading Over 50 Fall Fashion Trends 2020 that we can actually wear. Hi Cindy,
I love your fashion posts! They are so inspiring. I find something that I want to copy every time. I remembered that I purchased a leopard print long skirt early this summer. Wore it once. I have similar items of most everything else you styled. It’s just the way you style it that makes every outfit you wear special: a scarf or an interesting piece of jewelry, boots, a nice belt, your accessories elevate your outfits into something more! I look forward to the weather cooling off enough to actually start wearing some of my fall clothes! And then to be able to actually go someplace besides the grocery store!
Hope you are doing ok Cindy.
Smokey Smokey here today.

Of all the lovely bloggers, I think your style is closest to mine. I have taken to calling it “restrained boho” because apparently one’s style must have a name.
Linda Fant says
Cindy, you never disappoint!! I love to see how you put together your outfits, and really appreciate the info about where you purchased the items. So, so admire your knack of knowing what works for you and seeing your smile in the photos is the cherry on the top😍
Nancy Brantley says
Very classic chic for your age!! All outfits look great! Being natural is classic as we age! I’ve seen some ladies so over made up and dressed they actually look older….
Mary says
Your fashion posts are great. I got the same scarf at Anthropologie and love it!
Lorna says
I really, really love your style. These are all clothes I would love to wear. The jewellery too – especially anything ethnic or Native American. It seems that camel is really ‘in’ this year. I recently tried on a vintage jacket in the softest leather but didn’t buy it because it felt a bit snug. And now I am kicking myself.

I’m late to the party, but would love to know the extent of your wardrobe as well. You look good in everything and I love the picture you took for your hairdresser; very mysterious. I’m with the Contessa – bring on the fashion, tell us about supplements, but please don’t forget the décor posts. Easy for us to say, since you are doing all of the work! I think your Native American jewelry is my favorite part of your wardrobe and that necklace you inherited is divine.

LOVE you in the Anthro Scarf worn as a belted vest with jeans & linen shirt! You look svelte and gorgeous in everything today.

Susan Blakey says
Love these outfits, Cindy! You are rocking that leopard print!!
Mary Ann Pickett says
Wow, Cindy, you look fabulous. I love the leopard skirt. It must be like the mesh in my Free Poeple dress…which is so comfortable. I want the sweater in the last photo, too….I could wear that ourfit everyday!
Laura says
I love your style, and your Native American accessories! ❤️
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Laura
Thank you so much. I only wear silver and everything I have is either vintage or ethnic. I buy most of my jewelry on Ebay except for the nice pieces my husband has given me.
Susie Q says
Love all of your outfits. You look stunning, and so slender. What is your secret?
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Susie
Remember the last post about owning your own style and knowing your strengths? I have a large behind, big shoulders, and heavy legs. My waist appears small in proportion! If I wear something long and straight I look like I am one size up and down. Always best to cinch in the waist if I can. I primarily wear dark pants because my legs are large. Those are my only tips.
Marie says
I love the fashion posts!!! Do you love your Birdies?
Cindy Hattersley says
I love my birdies! I own two pairs so comfy!!
Jennifer Connolly says
You look amazing in all of your outfits and your accessorizing is drool-worthy!! Such fun inspiration. Thanks for inviting me to joining you stylish ladies today.

Thanks pal! Wish I could rock a blazer like you! We always love having you!!

I wish I had your closet of clothes and accessories, and I lived where it turns cool enough to wear your fall and winter ensembles. I’ll still be wearing “summer” clothes in December in Naples, FL. Sometimes it is true that the grass is greener on the other side (just sometimes, not for always). I love your style tips. You always look GREAT! I did let my hair go au natural. White, yes, white with gray at the back and still some color on the edges. Getting braver by the day as I look at favorite blogs written by women over 50. Surely, the same is true for over 70. Thanks so much, Cindy! Also, I’m praying for the end of fires in California – my home state. It tears me up to see towns, cars, people, animals and especially redwoods being threatened, burned and destroyed. Smoke flavored wine doesn’t sound appealing. Californians are tough and hardy stock, but what’s going on is merciless.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Cherie
My problem is I don’t throw anything away, which is a good thing when it comes to accessories. Not so good with clothes. Need to clean out my closet! It only gets cold enough here for about a month to wear a heavy sweater or even a coat, but not quite the warmth you are speaking of. Yeah for going natural. Are you happy you made the switch? We had a bit of smoke again today but not as bad as the bay area. Practically no one in the Santa Lucia Highlands will be picking their Pinto Noir grapes this year, sadly.

You look great, and I like each of these outfits. Your photo with the scarf taught me a new way that I could wear the large scarfs I own (I typically only use them for table top!) Thank you for sharing your inspired ideas!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Alexis
I use the large scarves for layering on the table too! I saw this on someone and copied the idea!
