Welcome Home Artful Home
Many of you may not know this, but it was Lisa Bayne (former CEO of Artful Home) who coaxed me into the world of fashion. My blog was originally dedicated to interior design. Back in 2016, Lisa called me completely out of the blue to ask me to become a brand ambassador for Artful Home (you can read about that early partnership here). To be honest, this was in the early days of blogging, and I had no idea what a brand ambassador was, nor did I cover much fashion. I actually thought she had the wrong number. I went on to interview Lisa for my Ageless Style series (read it here), and we have kept in contact over the years ( she gifted me a darling drawing of Scout seen in my post here). After a highly accomplished career with various brands, she is now “retired” but launched her own clothing line, exclusively available through Artful Home. Lisa truly understands women our age and exactly what we look for in fashion. I am super excited to share a few of her wonderful pieces from the Lisa Bayne collection for Artful Home. Use my code Cindy25 when ordering for 25% off the entire site. They also have beautiful Christmas ornaments. I did a feature on them here back in 2018 on how to decorate with Christmas ornaments all year long ( a clever Lisa concept).Lisa has kept her items at a relatively price friendly point and with this discount they are really affordable. Many of her pieces can be mixed an matched which I love. I asked them to let me select four pieces that I could wear multiple ways. I chose this skirt, top, vest and pants.

I am loving this vest, shirt, and skirt from Lisa Bayne for Artful Home. I paired the pieces with my favorite combat boots, and an All Saints bag, several on eBay here

When I spotted this chic Mesh Billow Skirt and matching Mesh Tara Top, I immediately knew their versatility would allow for endless styling possibilities. Here, I’m showcasing a simple holiday look, pairing them with my favorite boots, a metallic clutch, and rhinestone earrings (apologies for the photo quality!).

I adore the color of this Quilted Vest and the flattering shape (it covers the bum in back). I am wearing it with the Vida Street Pant, and a comfy pair of Keds

I added a beautiful cashmere sweater from ALC (splurge) in this photo. I am coveting the Devin Sweater from Lisa Bayne (the orange version is 40% off). I think either would complement this ensemble and it is 100% cotton!

The Mesh Billow Skirt & the Mesh Tara top pairs beautifully with this ALC sweater and my favorite combat boots (similar here). on Poshmark here, and on eBay here.
Other favorites from the Lisa Bayne collection:
This velvet shirt would be lovely for the holidays (love the cut). The Olea Cape would be great for travel. For you navy fans, this quilted jacket would be a great lightweight layer. This denim skirt is a steal. Love this alpaca & cotton sweater for a pop of color. This fleece leopard jacket and pants would be a fun travel option .. I was tempted to choose this jacket as one of my options. Artful Home has many bespoke jewelry items that you might want to check out as well.

Julia Berolzheimer’s Jewelry Collab with Jennifer Behr

This collection is so good. I honestly was not familiar with Jennifer Behr’s jewelry line. I am completely obsessed with Julia Berolzheimer’s style. Jennifer Behr’s vibrant jewel toned collection with Julia Berolzheimer caught my eye. It includes necklaces and earrings, inspired by Berolzheimer’s collected style and love of color and texture. You can check out my bespoke jewelry shop with my favorites from this collection and more here as well.

My Christmas Decor
To be perfectly honest, it has taken me a little while to find my Christmas “mojo” this year. The older I get, the more I want to edit and simplify, but knowing that you rely on me for inspiration keeps me motivated and going strong!

This long dough bowl (etsy has similar here) is either filled with faux pears, similar here, or apples this time of year.

We love this little nook in our kitchen. We eat nearly every meal here (unless we are eating outside), and we also entertain casually with one couple here as well. I created a simple arrangement with faux greens, fresh magnolia and pine cones in this pottery barn pot. The wreaths I purchased last year (similar here)

We found this hanging cupboard years ago at a junk shop in Monterey. We removed the doors and the drawers and it has been a staple in our entry here as well as in our former home. The stockings are by Trish from Cottage by Design. Stripe pillow fsimilar from etsy here, turkish rug pillow similar here. The garland is not great and it was pricey. I would not recommend it. This option gifted me by Terrain last year is much better.

In the kitchen I just added norfolk pine wreaths , with simple velvet ribbon here.

The pillows in the chairs on sale at Pottery Barn here. The mantel basket from local favorite Atrium Mercantile . I
Healthy Cauliflower Leek Soup

Our daughter served this Cauliflower Leek soup last weekend when we were visiting. I assumed it had heavy cream and other accoutrements to make it so delicious. Nope! We served it to our friends Matt and Mary last night and they loved it too! This recipe was adapted from this Delish recipe.
Cauliflower Leek Soup
Ingredients
- 6 Tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
- 4 leeks white and light green parts thinly sliced
- 10 cloves garlic minced
- 2 russet potato peeled and chopped
- 2 large head cauliflower cut into florets
- Kosher salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 6 cups low-sodium chicken broth or
- Sliced chives for garnish
- 1/4 c parmesan
- 3/4 tsp thyme
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
Instructions
- In a large pot, add oil and leeks. Turn heat to medium high, and cook, stirring occasionally, until golden, about 7-8 minutes. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds more. Step 2 Add potatoes and cauliflower, season with 1tsp. salt, 1/2 tsp thyme, red pepper flakes and a few grinds of pepper. Add broth, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer, covered, until potatoes and cauliflower are tender, about 20 minutes. Step 3 Remove from heat and, stir in parmesans, and using an immersion blender, blend mixture until smooth.Add more chicken broth if needed.

Love the Lisa fashions but unfortunately only ships to US. Home looks beautiful for the holidays.
Hi Beth
Darn it! I will ask about that for you.
Your home feels so festive. My favorite are the wreaths in the windows. I am going to try the cauliflower soup!
Hi Pat
Those wreaths are really inexpensive. I bought them last year and have enjoyed them. You guys will love that soup. Double it! It freezes well too since it has no milk or cream. We just finished ours up yesterday. Steve loves it and he is a bit finicky when it comes to soup!
Hi Cindy!
I remember your initial collaboration with Lisa. I have several of her pieces including a mesh dress that purchased for Jay & Camille’s rehearsal dinner. Her designs are timeless and likely never to leave my wardrobe rotation.
Your home is as beautiful as always and banquette is my very favorite!
♥️ Lynne
Hi Lynne
I just love Lisa’s line for Artful Home. She uses a lot of natural fabrics and I feel the price point is very good for the quality! Happy Holidays best friend I have never met!!
Such a great soup! The recipe is a keeper. Thank you!
Hi Caroline
We love that soup. My daughter gave me the recipe. I am so glad you enjoyed it too!
Cindy the soup looks delicious! If you have a Vitamix blender you can pop all of your ingredients in it and it will make the best soup and heat it as well.
Your house looks lovely, as always!
As for the outfits, the black and white dots look fabulous! I love that look on you.
Hi Eliz
I do not have a vitamix, maybe I need one!! I just used my immersion blender. Thanks pal for the kind comments!! You are the best!!
Cindy! What a wonderful and inspiring partnership you’ve had with Lisa! I think it’s amazing that you credit Lisa for adding fashion to your blog. The way you dress and your home are so intertwined, I can’t imagine it any other way! I adore that skirt and shirt worn with the vest… so creative! Love seeing your home at the holidays! It is so gorgeous!!
And that soup looks amazing!
Xx
Hi Annie
Lisa is absolutely the one who coaxed me into fashion! That polka dot skirt and top are so versatile!
Everything you touch is magic. I love all of your designs, clothes and recipes ( I’d make it in a minute buy my husband hates cauliflower) You truly have a gift that speaks to me. Another inspiring Sunday blog.
Thanks for the recipe. I am going to try it this week — simple and delicious, what more can you ask for mid-week?
Would you be able to provide info about your kitchen rug — the area one in front of the sink? I’m looking for jute / hemp / etc. rug for under my kitchen table, but I need to replace the rug in front of the sink as well.
Missing your yearly photo of your Belsnickle Santas. I wanted to be inspired on how to display my two new ones. Happy holidays !
Hi Jane!
Most of mine are put away this year due to Scout!! Next year I am hoping they will make a reappearance!!
Wow, love that ornament collection! In other news, my BR Floral Jacquard Chore Coat has arrived, thanks to you, and it is SO GOOD! First wearing: paired it with a maxi length leopard tulle skirt and a black blouse. It is the perfect weight for Portland OR — adds some warmth, but not too heavy. Feels very snuggly.
Hi Christine
Your outfit sounds fabulous!!
Tell me about your combat boots. They are adorable!
Hi Sara
They are old Stuart Weitzman. I linked to some on eBay. I purchased mine on eBay several years ago. It is the McKenzee boot. They are comfortable too!!
Hi Cindy – great holiday inspired here! We are soon to be building a home and I noticed your beautiful wood floors. Are they reclaimed wood?
Hi Cynthia
We did not build this house. The floors are not reclaimed wood but manufactured to look that way. They have the look but much easier to care for. I have no idea what the name is but I would be happy to take a close up picture so you could do a google image search for the name. Just email me!
Your home is beyond gorgeous for the holidays…I am going to copy your wreath on the kitchen window idea in our dining room. Merry Christmas!
You birthday presents are in the mail 🙂
Hi Mary Ann
I decided last year-no more needles inside the house at Christmas! Outside I still love the fresh greens that I can forage in my own yard!!
Hey, Cindy! Don’t feel the need to decorate on my account. The older I get, the less holiday decorating I do. Besides, I put so much into the regular design features in my home, why would I want to hide it all under temporary kitch? Give me a good wreath and a great centerpiece ( like your pears) and I’m good. Lisa Bayne’s style is so original and looks great on you.
Hi Susan
Great point!! I love Lisa’s line. She really knows how to dress women our age!!
