What Color Combination Always Looks Rich

Camel always looks rich especially when combined with black. Camel is warm and earthy and when it is combined with black, it evokes a sense of natural elegance and luxury in your wardrobe and your home. If black isn’t your jam, try combining camel with navy. Whatever you choose, camel creates a timeless versatility to any look. Let’s chat about what color combination always looks rich.

Steve’s Simply Delicious Ice Cream

If I were preparing it, I would serve it with Summer’s favorite ice cream, Steve’s Simply Delicious Vanilla Ice Cream.

How to Dress Like you are a Millionaire

I got a kick out of this article from Town and Country. You have heard the terms stealth wealth, and quiet luxury. I dedicated a post to the quiet luxury trend in my article How to Embrace the Quiet Luxury Trend Without Breaking the Bank here. I don’t know that I agree with Town and Country’s article it in its entirety, but I got a kick out of this quote “logo is a no go when it comes to purses”.

Camel and Black Always Looks Rich

A classic camel coat paired with black pants, loafers and pretty accessories, a little black dress with a camel blazer, black denim with a camel sweater or leather blazer, a camel dress with a black blazer; any of these classics evoke sophistication and simplicity.

This weeks save outfit is anchored by this pretty poncho from Ann Taylor. Ann Taylor. I am not a huge fan of polyester but it is great looking Ann Taylor is having 50% off everything and free shipping. The leopard mesh (great price) t-neck is from WHBM, the bag, and pants from Quince. The gentle souls bootie (a favorite) are on sale at Nordstrom here.

This weeks splurge outfit is anchored by the beautiful Rag and Bone cashmere poncho. It is pricey but will get a ton of wear. The faux leather pants are from Joe’s Jeans, the booties from Stuart Weitzman, the mesh turtleneck (a great layering staple I own) from Ganni, and the beautiful bag is from Bembien.I hope you enjoyed What Color Combination Always Looks Rich? Cindy I love the color camel but I like it paired with blue better. At home I like the color brown, more cozy and moody. Not to mention it it harder to see little paw prints.
Love apple crisp! And Steve’s ice cream, yummy.
    Have a wonderful week.

    1. p.s. the logo comment made me laugh. Over 30 years ago I was in Paris visiting a Parisian friend, an older lady who was very wealthy. We happened to walk by LV and there was a line out the door…she sniffed and told me in no uncertain terms that an elegant lady never wears logos or initials that are not their own. Understated, quality pieces are what you should wear and purchase I was told.

      1. Hi Eliz

I couldn’t agree with her more!! I don’t know how we got into this loco logo craze…

‘Logo is a ‘no-no’…is hilarious! I’ve never been comfortable wearing ‘labels’, and this confirms my feelings! My auntie made the very best apple crisp and I have long lost her recipe, I will try this one – it looks terrifically EASY! Love all your ideas and your blog! I even love the room style, though I tend to lean very much into color, a la Dorothy Draper!

    1. I am not fond of wearing initials that aren’t my own either! My friend says the apple crisp is simple! I like a bit more color as well but can appreciate Ambers lovely designs

  3. Love camel. I’m not good in black so always pair mine with navy or grey (even red if the spirit moves me). I’ve got two pairs of camel jeans and a gorgeous camel swing jacket, a camel trenchcoat and a camel puffa jacket. Obviously this is a winter thing. In summer, I would wear more colour. Your advice of wearing it away from the face depending on your colouring is so sound.
Was so glad to read that logos are de trop. That said, I have the most beautiful Gucci scarf in a mix of colours which, through fish, shoes, oranges and numerous other objects, spell the word Gucci and I love it! I mostly wear it as a sash belt.
Love the apple dessert. We call it apple crumble. And as to camel interiors – gorgeous. Very sleek.

  4. Lots of my loves here today~apple crisp, cherry crisp, peach crisp such delicious and soul-filling recipes. I do love camel but just realized that I don’t own any camel pants. Black, brown, olive, yes but no camel. But I do have lots of camel coats, tops, etc. so that’s probably enough! Happy Sunday.

  5. Hi Cindy! Just a note from an Apple Crisp fanatic. I make mine in small crème brûlée ‘crocks’ (3.5”) and bake them on a cookie sheet. Then they can be cooled and wrapped and frozen individually for later. I just had one last night. Just defrost and heat in the microwave or reheat in the oven. Thank you friend.

  6. As always, so interesting to read your posts, Cindy. The decor is beautiful, but I tend to add some subtle colour to my rooms… cushions etc depending on the seasons, as you do so well.
I agree with Marguerite about camel paired with grey, although being a soft Autumn, not a cool grey. I am finding and organizing my favourite fall clothes after just being here a month , and in much smaller quarters. Thank goodness for under the bed flat bins…my sweater collection is slightly out of control! Lots of cream, tan, olive and cayenne …perfect for fall. But dry sunny days are on hold.
Anyone aware of the “ atmospheric river “ , we here in coastal BC are in the midst of?
Wind and heavy rain…and all on voting day for the provincial election ! Joy! New term used and very descriptive. Good time to make that apple crisp!

    1. Hi Cath

Yikes the latest atmospheric river did not affect us here..I like pops of color in my personal decor as well but Amber Lewis does the earthy tones so well. A good topic for discussion.

  7. Hi Cindy,
My fave is black and camel, it’s a classic.
The Old fashion Apple Crisp looks easy. I have many recipes for an Apple Crisp. Yours is nice because it’s not the quantity to feed a tribe.
Nice that Steve makes his own ice cream.

  8. Love the look of camel and black however I can’t wear camel. Makes me look like I’m on my way to the emergency room. I would guess many of your readers are similar to me. Would love to see options for us cool tone lovelies. Do love all your fashion ideas.

    1. I agree about camel especially next to my face. And I usually need the darker colors on the bottom to balance me out. I’ve tried a camel cardigan with white or winter white near my face but always looking for other options.

      1. Hi Ruth

We all have to wear what we look and feel best in. I know the color peeps will poo poo me but I wear a little bit of everything knowing full well that many colors are not my best!!

  9. Camel is not a color I can wear but I do have a purse and belt in that color that I like to pair with dark navy or black. I appreciate it on others, just not on myself. It does read rich.

That apple crisp looks yummy but I’m on a diet so I’ll just quickly skip over it. I have got to lose those pesky summer bbq and drinks under the pergola pounds!

  10. I love these classic, elegant color combos, consistent with your inspirational sense of style. I especially love to wear camel and winter white in the cooler months. Can’t wait to try the apple crisp recipe. To me, the type of apple makes all the difference in baking recipes and Golden Delicious is my hands down favorite. I always enjoy the lift I get from your ideas. Thank you for staying true to yourself and for sharing!

    1. Hi Mary

Thank you so much for reading. I always say my readers make the content interesting…not me!!

  11. My personal favorite combo is camel and grey! Charcoal to the softest almost blue grey. However, it is so neutral I can’t imagine going wrong with most cool colors. Loving your fall outfits and table decor. Now if only we could get the weather to cooperate here in Texas!

  12. Personally, I love camel and black together. I pair a black turtleneck, black slacks and a camel sweater blazer. Wear my leopard flats with it and feel like a million dollars!! I had not thought about navy so will try that next.

  13. 5 stars
Cindy! I am loving brown to wear and at home! Amber does brown brilliantly!! Love your save/splurge outfits of the week!!

  14. Wow..so many good things like the apple crisp and Steve’s ice cream! I could make that for when everyone is here for the Florida/Georgia game! I have the Bembien bag in brown…would love it in black too.
