Ethnic Chic Get the Look at Anthropologie & Target
While searching the internet for some interesting accessories for a young couple I noticed Anthro is killing it right now with their ethnic inspired furniture and accessories. If you have been reading my blog for long you know I love infusing a little cross-cultural spirit into my decor. Anthro has some great options.

From top left, Betania Side Table, Faceted Wood Curtain Rod, Moroccan Cross Stitch Rug, Barnacle Pot, Suzani Pillow, Pointillism Wall Art, Bryce Side Table, Balinese Tassel Baskets, Footed Wood Tray, Pups Wall Art, Lombok Dresser, White Embury Dresser, Ulla Accent Chair, Antique Patterned Art, Uteki Patterned Lamp
I personally wouldn’t buy a sofa or a good comfortable chair from a retail outlet like Anthro, but I would have no problem buying a decorative piece like the Tanja trunk

this gorgeous Lombok Dresser

or a statement chair like the Ulla Accent Chair (that is more for looks than actually sitting). It is also on sale!

The Embury Dresser would be a great entry or statement piece where it is not used all the time. It has a sleek look that could be balanced with a group of the antiqua hanging baskets, and the uteki painted lamp and some flowers or branches in the barnacle vase, or the black and white antique patterned wall art above and something simple and textural like the driftwood sculpture on the chest. I never like a something cold on something cold.

Some of Anthro’s items can be kind of pricey so I thought I would see if I could get a similar look from Target. Nate Berkus always designs some great accessories for Target so I knew I could find some interesting finds.
Love Nate’s Screen Door Nightstand for Target. It is on sale for $104.98, so you get a lot of bang for your buck. It is probably not going to last a lifetime but it would definitely work for someone starting out. Either The Perugia Etruscan Mirror or the Black Tree Canvas Art would be great companions to the nightstand, along with the Abbyson Budha Table Lamp. I have no problem purchasing table lamps or lampshades from Target. I have done so many times and had great luck.

I am crazy about their Olivia and May Butterfly Leather Chair. You can find these elsewhere for more $$$. I used a similar chair in a recent project. These chairs are great for kids. They love sitting in them. The Three Lighting Ceiling Light would look great hovering above.

Crazy about Nate’s Tufted Arm Chair , it has a great look for a great price. It would look great parked next to the Viabella Stump Table.

The last two pieces I am coveting are Nate’s round metal coffee table, and the faux leather croccodile trunk.

There are so many options at Target for someone that wants the look for less.

Great finds! Both of my daughter-in-laws love Anthro home furnishings, as well as their clothing. I’m sure at least one of them have something from this post on their wish list!

Hi Cyndi, I loved this post with such wonderful recommendations for mixing in the ethnic look. Perhaps it was the word “ethnic” that prompted the comment on Jews. I am appalled that someone made such comments on your blog. I hope for my sake and other readers who may be equally offended, that you remove her comment. I know we live in a great country that allows freedom of speech, but on a site that promotes beauty and creativity, it just doesn’t belong. Thank you.
Hi Cheryl
For some reason, I have had a rash of spam comments of late. I am very distressed about the one you are speaking of especially. I marked it spam the minute it came through. I am so sorry that it appeared here in the comments. I have no idea what motivates someone to spout such hatred. I hope it was removed in time that it did not offend anyone else. Thank you for bringing it to my attention and please accept my apology. I hope all realize it in no way reflects my feelings or opinions. As you said this is a forum where we all can share our love for all things creative. Cindy
Good morning Cindy (and oops, I am sorry I misspelled your name). I appreciate your response to me. I knew in my heart you did not agree with anything she posted, so no apology to me directly was necessary, but I do appreciate it. I hope that somehow the spam you have been getting, gets fixed so you won’t have to deal with such things. I love your blog, and it is part of my daily morning read. Have a wonderful day. 🙂
Cyndi you sourced some fabulous pieces. I haven’t added ethnic pieces to my home but I always love the textures and interesting pieces in your designs. Fun post b
Wow, Cindy! Great finds for that ethnic look! I just wish I had a vacation home to decorate, I’d for sure use some of these wonderful items.
