Spring Fashion Over 50

Hi All!  Welcome to our Spring Fashion post.  Annie, Mary Ann, and I are so happy to be joined by five of our favorite blogging pals to ring in Spring.  If you have been following me long, you know I love a collected look in my home and my wardrobe.  Accessories are what I love.  Most have been collected over the years and many are vintage. I am really trying to bring in more color to my wardrobe to complement these accessories, so let’s take a look at  Spring Fashion Over 50 with an emphasis on accessories.

Spring Fashion Over 50

I personally think accessories make the outfit. I love a collected look in my home and my wardrobe. You can read my post The Power of Accessories here.  You know I have a fondness for Artisan made, vintage and Native American items when it comes to jewelry. Many (most) of my pieces I have had for years.  Spring Fashion over 50 Cindy Hattersley Design

I have become an H&M fan.  I know a lot of it is junk but they do get good things and this is one of them.  It also comes in mustard and black. You saw it on one of my first outfits of the week on my five favorites back in January here. It is really well made and I love the cut.  Here I am wearing it with hue cotton leggings, my Ilse Jacobsen shoes, and bone accessories.

SHOP MY LOOK HERE

Here I am wearing my favorite Michaels Stars tee with the Wendy pant from Cp Shades, Artemis Mules a vintage pastel belt and American Indian earrings found on Ebay. The Wendy pant is not currently available in this color but I have linked it in white below (I also have in white).  You can also find them on Ebay here.

Here I added my vintage lucky brand embroidered jean jacket to the mix. The lucky embroidered jean jacket is at least ten years old and is no longer available but you can find it and similar on Ebay here

THE ADDITION OF PURPLE

I love this JP & Mattei shirt from Sundance.  I am not one for ruffles but love the detailing on this one.  I featured it on my Sunday favorites here. I am wearing it tied at the waist but it looks great with jeans tucked in our out. The pendant and earrings were purchased on Ebay this year.  I have added lavender and purple (they seem to like silver hair),  so I picked up the Native American sugilite cross and earrings on Ebay to complement the mix. The bangles are vintage but I have linked similar below. If you read this blog regularly you have seen the Artemis mules many times before. Note the patched on shoe (Summer hid my shoe) I couldn’t locate it until after her nap!

FYI when you buy a long necklace (say 30″ or so) make sure it has a clasp.  That way you can wear it either long or short. I would wear it long if the shirt weren’t tied at the waist.  With the shirt tied I think there is too much going on to have a long necklace.  If it were tucked or out I think it would be fine.

VINTAGE KANTHA FOR INTEREST

In this last look I am wearing a lightweight Kantha Kimono from Etsy with my vintage turquoise pin from Leo Feeney and a necklace I bought a few years ago on Etsy.  Similar linked below. Jeans are from Madewell.

That’s it for my edition of Spring Fashion Over 50 with an emphasis on accessories. Now pop over and visit my stylish friends and see what they are sharing.  It’s a great group you won’t be disappointed. If you have a minute please let me know any areas that you would like to see covered as far as fashion goes.  I would love to hear from you! Sorry I was unable to pull off a Tuesday post with little Summer here.  I will be back on Sunday with my favorites.

    Hi Liana

Neither would I. Many readers asked for affordable options so I thought should look and see what I could find. It’s like the infamous Target dress of last season that so many of you loved. That tunic is amazing…I think it is supposed to be a dress but you wouldn’t catch me in a dress above my knees!

    Cindy,
You are now officially my fashion guru. I love your style and it feels like I have a personal shopper that is always spot on. Thank you!😊
    xo,

Bellissime foto. Divina nei colori senape e viola, una super combinazione, in ogni stile. Il mio top è vedere foto di arredamento e abbigliamento. Grazie cara Cindy.

  4. Juliet says

Cindy, when I saw this post I thought your purple shirt was cashmere … it’s so luxurious looking. But, it’s a tee! Of course, Michael Stars makes the best tees so it’s no surprise I mistook it for cashmere. Love all your looks and your style. This series is so fun … and off I go to see what everyone else is wearing. xo

    Hi Cindy,
I’m a day late, but so enjoyed this post! I love your style, it’s just so YOU! Your accessories are fabulous and unique and quality, which makes a difference. (Your best accessories being your great smile!)
I love those wide pants, admire them when I see someone in them, going to try again to find a pair thatI don’t feel huge in!
I bought a CP Shades skirt via eBay, per your advice. Finally hemmed it, needed to chop 6” off! No kidding. I’m looking forward to wearing it when the weather is warm again. Cool here and headed to the beach for lunch with my daughter. Need to bundle up again!
Hope everything is going well with your packing, and wish you a very Happy Easter!
    Xo Heidi

Cindy, I love your fashion posts and your style! Very inspiring since I’ve spent the last year in isolation, in front of a computer, writing a book! The finish line is just beyond this next hill, so I look forward to “dressing” again and getting out. xoxox, Brenda

I absolutely love the Artemis shoes 💕 do u find them true to size? I have my eye on a couple of mules that I’d love to get my hands on 🙏🏻 You look fab in everything I see here! Such a stylish stylista Cindy ☺️

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Yes they are true to size and I find them comfortable (with my one foot issue!). I don’t know if I can wear the loafer have been too afraid to try! Someone else can probably chime in on that one!! Thanks for becoming a part of our group! I commented without too many problems today!!

  8. Rhoda Vickers says

Cindy, I love your sense of style. You aren’t afraid to get out of the box, I need to do more of that. Those wide pants are so cute on you, I just haven’t taken the plunge for those yet, maybe I should. Great looks!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Rhoda

You are so sweet. It has taken me awhile to venture out of the box. The gray hair is empowering, I have to say.

  9. Liana says

Lavender is definitely your color, complements your skin and hair beautifully, but the grey eyelet outfit looks stunning on you. Thanks for introducing us that tunic /dress. I’d have never guessed H&M have something for women of my age.

  10. Sandra Sallin says

Love it all. Actually I went to the H&M site to buy the eyelet dress. Of course there are none. I always love your looks. I so identify with your taste. So I would wear everything you chose. Plus I love the combination of purple and chartreuse. Bottom line you’re a great shopper. I don’t know when you have time to do it all. I’m always I’m impressed.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Sandra

Do you think I went into the store?!! Nope! It is still available online. I ordered a small if that helps. The XS was too tight across the chest. You would look fabulous in the purple & chartreuse! Don’t be too impressed I don’t do anything very well and I don’t sleep!

  11. Wren says

Forgot to mention that I found another shoe and a tiny Cindy posed in a doorway in your ivy behind you! Would never have noticed the pasted shoe if you hadn’t mentioned..

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Ha! She remembered where it was hidden…under my bed, but of course it was too late by then!!

  12. Wren says

I really like the combo of lavender and mustard-yellow that you show. Unexpected and fresh! With my new “silver”, I am hoping to find periwinkle items since that’s always been a fav and I think will be a good color choice.
Could you say a bit more about your Artemis shoes? Since they are a little spendy, I assume they are worth it. It sounds like you have had some for a long time. Are they comfortable for long periods of walking and what styles have you found that you like best, i.e. loafer, slide, etc.? They are beautiful and if one is wearing all solids, these really add a unique touch.
Thanks for taking the time to do a post when your life must be rather hectic!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Wren

My friend who was a “dresser” as I called her. She knew her stuff always said periwinkle is universal. I don’t look very well in navy or true blue but periwinkle I love. Why is it we don’t see much of it if it looks great on everyone? Don’t get it!!

  13. Alice strom says

    Cindy,
I was so happy to see you styled in the H&M grey eyelet top! When you purchased it early in the year and showed it on your blog, I bought one too. I have been waiting to see how you styled and accessorized it and now I know and can start wearing mine!
Thank you for all your styling tips, your accessories, and all the topics you cover on your blog!
    I love it all!
    Very best regards,
    Alice Strom

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Alice

Don’t you love that tunic? I think it would be cute with white jeans as well!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Hi Alice I am so happy you like it! I think it looks like something much pricier than it is!!

  14. Sue Reiner says

All the outfits were GREAT! Love the length of your hair. So becoming on you. I wanted to order the grey top from H&M but online it says runs large. I usually wear a small but should I order the x small in this one? Thank you!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Sue
I ordered both and felt the XS was a little tight through the chest. Other than the sleeves being a tad long the S fits perfect!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Sue

Thank you so much about the comment about my hair. I think there is a fine line between looking like a scary old lady and a good length…I have almost crossed that had to cancel my appt this week due to babysitting. I would get the S. I thought the XS was tight across the bust.

      Hi Kim
It came from Tancredi several years ago but I linked a very similar one from Etsy below the photo

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kim

Tancredit & Morgen many moons ago but I linked one that is very similar from Etsy. I don’t know if Marsha is carrying them this year have not been by in a while. Maybe we need to meet there!

  15. kim says

Oh my gosh Cindy that H&M number is stunning on you. I just love that grayish lilac with your hair and with the leggings so chic. That and the straw bag are beautiful! Yes you need more of that color. I agree about H&M, but sometimes they just have the coolest pieces. I have some that have lasted for years and years.. Love the kimono and the linen shirt too. You always find pretty clothes as well as accessories. So enjoyed doing this with you all! I knew I’d find great ideas.. Going to look for some of these items now. Thanks Cindy! xo

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kim

Thank you so much. You know one is never sure when you see it. I troll the websites a lot more now that I do the outfit of the week. The only problem is it get’s me in trouble as well!!

  16. Janelle says

You look Fantastic in all but can’t help but be drawn to the “green & purple”, cheery and feminine all things Spring!
    Thank you

    • Cindy Hattersley says

I agree Janelle there is something about that combination that I really like. I never ever wore purple before going gray. Maybe I should have!!

  17. classic casual home says

Spectacular…so hard to pick a favorite look but the gray eyelet is amazing with the straw bag. This has really encouraged me to accessorize!! I am going to organized mine so I can really see what I have. You look amazing!
