 Urban Cottage on Instagram

Steve from Urban Cottage had one of the most interesting blogs in the blog world. I really miss his blog. Now he only posts on Instagram.  He is an amazing cook, pottery collector, cat lover, and incredible stylist.  If you aren’t following him you should.

Love Steve’s pottery collection.

Steve changes the decor on his bookshelves seasonly.  They always are impeccably styled.

He just posted this shot of his living room yesterday with his Spring Slipcovers.  I absolutely love this space.

I don’t know about you but I am anxious about Spring and Spring clothes.  I put together an outfit that I am crazy about this week. We may actually be able to go out in the near future.  Wouldn’t that be something?

Outfit of the Week

H&M outfit

I have really taken a closer look at H&M after my boyfriend jean find.  They are having 20% women’s fashion today only. I ordered this eyelet dress (I will wear it as a tunic). It is $63 today with the discount. It also comes in a pretty mustand and black.  It looks as if it would cost three times that.  I think it is so interesting on its own the jewelry should be kept simple.  I selected a few pretties from Sundance in case you ladies would like to put them on your Valentine’s Day list! I love the simplicity of the hoops, ring, and bracelet.  The necklace can be monogrammed.  I think it is really special and would be a wonderful Valentine’s surprise (tell your hubby).

I have been on the hunt for a gray tote.  I really like this one from Anthropologie.  Valentines Day is coming up ladies.  I picked out a few pretties from Sundance that I think are special.  Love the simple oval hoops, the rings, and the bracelet, but the necklace sooo pretty. The necklace can be monogrammed.  I think a simple necklace like this would be nice with the tunic.  It doesn’t need much since it is so interesting on its own.  The piece de resistance are these Moroccan mules that I found on Etsy.  They come in many other styles and colors.  I think you will love their entire shop

I would wear all of this with a pair of white skinny jeans this summer, probably not as shown on the model!

Weight Watchers Recipe of the Week

I am still hanging in there with Weight Watchers.  I have lost 6 pounds. I have holding steady for the past week which is what usually happens to me after I lose about five.  I am content with that and realize the next few will be more difficult.  How about you guys?

This is one of the simplest recipes I have tried and it is really good.

I really like cauliflower rice.  I always pick up an extra bag when I am at the grocery.  We use it instead of pasta with T’J’s turkey meatballs and my homemade marinara sauce for a quick and easy meal. My only addition to this recipe was a few chili flakes.  Totally unnecessary if you don’t care for the extra warmth.

I hope you all are having a great weekend.  We actually got out yesterday in Paso.  It was sunny so we enjoyed a delicious lunch at Fish Gaucho, and did a little wine tasting at Paix su Terre, and Benom two of our favorite wineries. I hope you enjoyed Five Faves-H&M, Domino, WW, and more. You might also enjoy last week’s Five Faves here.

Now pop over and visit Annie and Mary Ann for their fun faves.

Super post, Cindy! I appreciate the recommendation of Steve’s IG account. Styling shelves is difficult for me. I’m very indecisive when it comes to overdone or bleak. Objects or treasures? I’m loving the clothing and shoes you’ve shared. I have to check out Urban Outfitters. My daughters shop there and love it. I’m doing the Noom program…it’s an app and I’m really pleased. I was stuck early on going up and down with the same five pounds. Once I broke that crazy cycle I’ve ben inching down gradually.

Enjoy your time out and about. Hubby is close to getting the vaccine, and then I’ll go ahead of the general public. Fingers crossed!

Can you believe I haven’t shopped for clothes since January 2020? I’m finding it hard to believe myself.
I really like the outfit you put together. That eyelet dress is darling and makes me wish we had an H&M here. You have such a great eye for putting things together to make them all work. I fell like I am stuck in a rut and need some fresh things in my wardrobe ro might even try giving clothes I haven’t worn in years a bit of air. But there’s nowhere to go and everyone is so casual at work (on the 2 days I actually turn up at the office) that I try to blend in as much as possible.

The recipe looks delicious. The shoes and the eyelet top look perfect for spring and summer. As always I find several things to take away from your posts.

Love the shoes! also the tunic dress. We have been trying to have weekend adventures with some success. starting small, just going to places around our city we haven’t been to in a long time. It’s been a nice break in the week,a time out, discovering that there is so much new building, etc. At least somebody has been busy! Keep posting and stay safe!

      Hi Susan

Yes getting out is so nice. We are very careful but on a beautiful day it certainly is nice. I should have taken a picture of the dress. The quality is surprising. I am going to keep my eyes open for finds like that to share with you.

Loved the E.B White essay. His approach to getting through the day reminds me of an essay by Henry Mitchell, the late but always great garden writer for the Washington Post. His question was: why does it take all day to plant three tomatoes? I don’t know if his books are still in print or not—they are collections of his essays at WaPo. He mourned that he couldn’t write like Shakespeare! I think his voice is similar to Mark Twain with a trowel. I loved Steve’s blog, too! Remember his kitchen adventure? Thanks for tip to look for him on Instagram…not my first reach for anything! Wine tasting, hey? We are still in self imposed lock down and will be until after we get both shots and the waiting period for afterwards ticks off. I’m starting to feel like a mole.

        Hi Diane
They say to size up. I ordered a 39 in the gray! I thought they looked like fun for summer!

      • Kim says

Wanted to give feedback on these. They are absolutely beautiful. However: I used a conversion chart for sizing and my shoes are an inch too short. Apparently there is a sizing chart for Moroccan slippers which I learned about after the fact. I would advise using that or talking directly with the seller. According to the seller, shipping is too expensive and shoes would sit in customs for a prolonged period of time. So no return or refund. He did however offer me a 30% off of my next purchase, which will not occur. The shoe upper exteriors feel like crispy lace/brocade vs. a smooth finish if you are particular about textures. Will say he is prompt about communications and the shipping is fast. Wanted advise so people can order the correct size and enjoy their purchase.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Cathy

it looks corrected on my end. For some reason those weight watchers links get blocked sometimes, and sometimes not! I will send you the recipe if you can’t get it!

Cindy, thanks for sharing Steve from Urban Cottage~just love those white slipcovers…Maybe it’s time for me to pull mine out. I generally wait until after March. I cannot wear gray but love what you have chosen for yourself. The kitchen picture from Dominos is definitely being pinned. Happy Sunday.
