Simple Inexpensive Things you Will Love
Today I am joining my pals Annie and Mary Ann for our Sunday favorites. Today let’s chat about Simple Inexpensive Things you Will Love
Simple Inexpensive Things you Will Love
This Target Fall Wreath is so Good
I have to be honest, I spotted this wreath online and I thought it looked “pretty good”. Steve and I popped into the store about a month ago and I almost pulled the trigger and then I thought…does it look well “cheap”. I went home empty handed. FYI I made a beautiful fall wreath last year which you can see here, and for whatever reason I disassembled it and made another wreath for Spring with the same base. Last week I grabbed a couple of the Target wreaths and brought them home.

Be sure to fluff out all the branches. I added black and white ribbon that you can find on Amazon here. I haven’t finished decorating with the pumpkins. I need a giant one in the back, but I thought this wreath was too good not to share!

The wreaths are simple and look great. I placed the second one on our garden gate and love it.
Simple No Fail Appetizer
Don’t you love an appetizer you can throw together in a hurry?

This no fail brie appetizer is one of my go to’s when I don’t have time to do a lot of prep. All you need is a small wheel of brie, your favorite jam and some fresh herbs. This fig jam with fresh mint is really good. This hot bacon jam ( one of my go tos and amazing) with fresh parsley is nice. Add crackers & crostini for a simple delicious appetizer. I took it to my book club on Tuesday and everyone loved it.
The Perfect Couple on Netflix
I have been watching the highly popular Perfect Couple series on Netflix. I have found it entertaining but not fabulous considering the amazing cast. (Nicole Kidman & Liev Schreiber & more). I am curious what you think? Have you watched it? I read one review that alluded to the fact that they were hoping it would be more like Bloodline which I loved. I am curious if you watched it, and if so, what are your feelings?

Outfit of the Week
I had a lot of fun searching for the Splurge and Save Outfits of the Week this week. I found some great bargains that I want to jump on myself!

This Target sweater dress is great looking and also comes in extended sizes. I love this quilted jacket from Uniglo and it comes inseveral other colors. The expandable leopard tote is a Longchamp dupe from Target. The boots by Sam Edelman are reasonable and oh so chic!
Shop Outfit of the Week

This quilted jacket from Everlane is on sale and I have it in my basket. I love the fit and flare style of this sweaterdress from Nordstrom (also reasonably priced). I have the silver sneaks from Vionic and wear them all the time. I splurged and bought the Parker Hatch cross body. The platinum color goes with everything and it has become my go to handbag. I purchased my cross body strap on Amazon for much less. I wouldn’t spend the extra $$ for theirs unless you absolutely love it.
Shop Outfit of the Week

Wouldn’t a red faux leather jacket be fun? I paired it with the inexpensive sweater dress from Target, red adidas (not cheap-I won’t feature cheap shoes because I don’t think women our age can wear them), and, a super reasonable quilted bag (similar) from Vera Bradley here,
Shop Outfit of the Week

I am crazy about this vintage looking moto jacket from Ralph Lauren, paired with the Nordstrom sweater dress, the very comfortable Stuart Weitzman boots, and a beautiful but pricey Isabel Marant bag.

SHOP MOST LOVELY THINGS IS OPEN!
Annie brought back so many fun treasures from her France shopping trip. You will want to check out her shop here.
I love the little cheese mold I purchased from her last year. I put my scrub brush in it next to my sink.

Great Inexpensive Pillow Covers on Amazon
You can check out my entire Amazon store here. I am amazed at how may pretty pillow covers I have found on Amazon. Many I have purchased on higher end sites. You can check out all of my home decor pics along with my price friendly pillow pics here on Amazon. Many of you asked about my salmon pillow covers on my fall decor post. I found some similar ones that you can find in my store here.
Have a Great Sunday and thank you for reading Simple Inexpensive Things you Will Love. Now let’s pop over and visit Annie and Mary Ann for their faves. If you missed last week’s Sunday Favorites, you can catch up with it here.

We loved The Perfect Couple! Yes it was cliché but so are the author’s formulaic books! Interesting the pearl clutching about the ‘crudity’ and high brow comments referencing British shows …many of the actors ARE British or Irish!!! In fact the lead actress who plays Amelia is Bono’s(U2) daughter! The whole show was campy and felt like a big budget telenovela! Not to be taken seriously.
Escapism at its finest and that Nantucket eye candy…yum
Thanks for the Target wreath suggestions. I just went out an bought this same one. I just had my house and front door painted and the wreath looks great on my cream front door. I always buy those interesting colorful pumpkins at Trader Joes each year.
Your outfit choices are cute too. I don’t think I could wear the fitted knit dress without some shape wear, which won’t happen unless absolutely necessary for a wedding or something. Too many lumps and bumps.
I also watched the Perfect Couple. Meh! I read the book too. Her books are good, but definitely Chic Lit.
Hi Ann
I think I read one of her books years ago but not lately. I found that series disappointing as I said. Shapewear might be in order for the Target dress! I thought that wreath was a complete steal. My front gate can be tricky during fall because it is brown, so this worked. Especially since I tore the wreath apart (that I made last year) in the Spring (stupid!)
You can buy that Bacon Jam at Pasolivo, Cindy!
Hi Judith
I know that is where I get mine!
Well, I have to say that I didn’t mind watching “The Perfect Couple”! I caught an episode every few nights, when my husband turned in early. I watched with a magazine or my iPad in my lap. The show was sure pretty to look at!
I was surprised when the killer was revealed. I must confess, that although I’m a very nice and wholesome person, I don’t mind a little murder and bad behavior in a fictional tv series!
I’m going to head out to my front gate, where my old wreath is hanging, and try out some ribbon. That beautiful golden leaf wreath from Target is sold out near me.
While I was on the Target website, I noticed that the John Derain Thanksgiving items have been released. There are some darling things! I’m trying to scout out the tiny mushroom lamp near me.

The Brie appy sounds delish – loving the green and reds in the outfits of the week and really appreciate the ‘high and low’ options. Your amazon store is terrific (and so convenient)!
Good morning Cindy,
Happy Monday to you.
Love the brie appetizer, easy appetizers are my favorite. If you would like another easy one try baked cambozola with cranberries and pecans piled on top, DELICIOUS!
Did not watch the Perfect Couple, I am not really a fan of NK . I have read so many negative comments about the show and one of your readers touched on the crudeness, not really my thing.
Love these outfit! Would love to hear more about the Vionic shoes, are they comfy for walking long distances?
Hi Cindy!
I love your blog! You have helped me to develop my wardrobe a d look around our home with fresh eyes.
Thank you so much. I look forward to every post.
Hi Cindy,
I thought The Perfect Couple was disappointing. Like you, I had high expectations since the cast was so stellar. I watched it to the end, and it didn’t help my disappointment.
Great outfits.
Thank you for the great charcuterie board ideas. I was happy to see the Amazon link to the various jams. Yummy.
Karen B.
Brie appetizer….warm or room temp?
Hi Carolyn
Room Temp!
Hi Cindy, LOVE the red as this week, I’m in a red kind of mood. Not in a bad way at all and it makes a change from all my customary blues. You are so lucky that Target is so good in the States. Here in my home state in Australia, it’s little short of pathetic.
The Perfect Couple? We laughed and groaned a lot as it was so cliched. I find NK as plastic an actress as she is with her facial work – awful. Terribly styled too. Her husband? Boring. Most of the children horrendous. And a rather pathetic ending so that we wondered why we had bothered bingeing it.
On the other hand, watched Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth last night in Lonely Planet and it was sweet. Even husband like it. Thank heaven too, that we can turn away from Netflix to Britbox where most of the quality series are.
Hi Prue
I find I am obsessed with olive green and red this season. Not necessarily because they are “in” but because we can find them! I will check out Lonely Planet. The Perfect Couple was not all that perfect for me.
Apparently the ending was changed (from the book) and it was hard to believe that Kidman’s character, a well known author, had a previous life as a prostitute. Have started to watch an Italian series, ‘The War is over’ about the little Jewish orphans who were given sanctuary in an old house in northern Italy. Based on a true story. Otherwise, there is a dearth of anything decent on Netflix.
Hi Cindy,
My husband and I just finished the Perfect Couple and thought about the same way as everyone else here. Without the high-caliber actors in the roles, it would have been similar to a bad Lifetime movie. I’ve read a few of Hildebrand’s books and never have they been as crude or full of swearing. That leads me to believe “Hollywood” feels it must be added.
Love the ribbon you added to the fall wreaths. Always love your fashion and accessories!
Carol I think you said it…we thought it should be good because of the actors…but it just wasn’t …more like a lifetime movie for sure…
The perfect couple? Meh
Yep!
Cindy, can you tell me please who is the Canadian blogger who lives in California. I used to enjoy her blogs.,along with yours, and would like to resubscribe. Thank you. Dee
Hi Dee
I am drawing a blank. You aren’t speaking of Sue from High Heels in the Wildnerness? She still lives in Canada. Was the blog centered around interiors and gardens or more fashion?
No, that’s not her..this lady goes to Vancouver a lot to where her daughter lives. Thank you for your help Dee
Hi Dee, Perhaps you’re thinking of Jennifer at A Well Styled Life?
Thank you. I think that’s the lady.
Hi Cindy,
I look forward to your review of the Parker Hatch sling bag, LOVE the color. I went back and forth on it for weeks and ultimately decided it was a touch too large and wound up buying the MZWallace, which I love for travel and seems just about the right size. Let us know!
Hi Vicky
I own an MC Wallace cross body which I love and and I love this one as well. It carries everything I need! I wish it weren’t so pricey…
Good morning. The Perfect Couple did have a great cast – but it did fall short.. Agree with everyone about the opening dance – maybe the best part. It did zero in on a lifestyle that most of could never imagine. Love the red jacket – reminded me that I have a very similar one waiting for the weather to cool down in Arizona, Perfect with jeans. As always – thx for the inspiration..Anna in Arizona
Hi Anna
I am glad it wasn’t just me…
The Perfect Couple was a waste of time, The book is better (which frequently happens). I completely agree with the comment about British entertainment being better than the American version. If there were no Britbox I’d probably throw away the tv. Cindy, I bet you could create a great lifestyle program we would all like to watch.
Note to self I need to sign up for Britbox! I don’t watch much tv and what I do watch tends to be documentaries…
Like several others, we turned off The Pefect Couple during the first episode. There are too many other shows vying for our attention, to say nothing of all the sports on tv at this time of year.
LOVE the outfits you’ve shown on this blog!
Hi Tally
I almost did the same but I thought with that cast it surely would get better!
I’m feeling a little regretful this morning. Another blogger featured resurrecting her brown leather jacket, as it is a trending colour. Going through my overfilled coat closet last year had me consigning a burgundy and a grey one I felt I would not wear now. The grey one did nothing for my new colouring but I’d love to have the gorgeous burgundy one back. Lesson learned! Don’t be too quick to rid oneself of “clutter”.
I love your outfits of the week!
Hi Joanna
I never put my leather jackets out to pasture. I think they are classics, but I am no style maven! I do agree to be a bit of a clothes hoarder though!
Hi Cindy,
My husband and I both didn’t like The Perfect Couple. Where the cast was great, the story was a bit ridiculous and far fetched. I’ve read many of her books and enjoyed most but this movie version fell flat.
I gasped a little at the price on the Parker Thatch crossbody, wow! My go to crossbody bags have always been Lug and Ihkwip bags as I love nylon. Also ShortyLove bags as well.
Love your posts each week
Hi Dani
The Parker Hatch is pricey. I bought mine on sale but it was still costly. I am going to check out your recommendations@
Cindy- your wreaths are so pretty!! Your home is made for seasons and holidays!
Love that Brie appetizer with mint! I have very little mint left, but I’m going to try it!
And Cindy…you can make a Uniqlo quilted jacket look like a million bucks! Love all of your outfits this week!
Xx
Cindy,
Your simple ribbon addition to the wreath adds just what it needed! Love it’s simple but charming look!
Funny, we’ve just recently become addicted to Hot Bacon Jam from Terrapin Farms and will try adding fresh parsley next time. Yum!
I’ve been reading your blog for years and love your exquisite taste and great ideas like the ones I mentioned. Thank you!
Cyndy
Hi Cyndy
First of all thank you for being such a loyal reader. That bacon jam has saved me so many times. I always have one in the pantry!
About the Perfect Couple series…call me a prude, but my husband and I tried to watch it and couldn’t get past the crudeness it started out with. We turned it off not far into the first episode. I have read almost all of Elin Hildebrand’s books, and don’t remember getting that impression from the novel of the same name. I had high hopes for the series because I liked the book but, as usual, Hollywood’s depiction of “in-your-face” American society was an assault to my finer senses. We watch a lot of British entertainment instead.
Hi Mary
I get it!
Loved Bloodline and thought The Perfect Couple was kinda of meh too.
Hi Barb
I wasn’t sure if it was just me? Maybe we should read the book. I understand from Mary it was much better.
Hi, Cindy…..I watched The Perfect Couple and found it entertaining….but felt the plot had a few ‘holes’…..I felt that Nicole Kidman was too young-looking and ‘plastic’ for the role…..the most believable was the bride….I loved the group dance at the beginning of each episode and would love to learn it!
Hi Cherrie
Yes the plot definitely had a few holes. I normally love Nicole Kidman but she didn’t wheel me in on this one! Loved the dance!!
LOVE everything in your Amazon shop! And the chic outfits!
Hi Mary Ann
Thank you!!
