Before I show you the “real” kitchen I want to show you some of my inspiration kitchens. Keep in mind we are flipping this house and we have a “tight” budget. These images are for inspiration only. We are working hard demoing the old. Let’s take a look at New Project Kitchen Progress.

Okay…now for a big dose of reality!
Here is a shot of the kitchen before……I know it is a beauty…you are asking…how could we tear it out, right?
This is what it looks like now. As you can see the kitchen was very dark before. The boys added a skylight which has made a huge difference. Sorry about the poor iPhone picture. You can see in place of the bookcase they also created a bar area.
The back wall where you see floor to ceiling cabinets will be replaced by lower cabinets like this from IKEA
There will be a stainless range in the middle with this hood above
The counter will be marble-looking quartz instead of black.
The wall will be white subway tile with these shelves (only longer) from West Elm on either side of the range hood
The stainless sink will be replaced by this farm sink from IKEA
I am pretty sure we are going to use this blue stone on the floor that Kelley used in her laundry room here (thanks Kelley!!)
I am still debating about pendant lighting over the counter but as the budget begins getting depleted…the less expensive ones are looking better. More on that later.
Here is a shot from the hall looking into the great room/kitchen area. As you can see the walls are wood and the ceiling is the open beam (more wood!).
The walls are going to be painted a “watered down” (we cut it in half) version of Glidden’s Olivewood below. I have to tell you this is one fabulous color. We were going to use Farrow and Ball’s Hardwick White but I prefer this. It is sort of a gray/green/chalky color. The ceilings will probably be white dove or something similar to lighten the area up!

Cindy, This is going to be gorgeous. I also love the new kitchens with light wood cabinets. The combo of those cabinets will be lovely with the white counters and I love the open shelves too. Just spent a bunch of time on your Pinterest board. Love it! I wish I could re-do my kitchen with all of these! I can't wait to see the finished product.

I had to chuckle at your inspiration photos and reality…just finished a project where reality was IKEA cupboards….it came out pretty good…I'm not sure how it will hold up, but it does look better than I thought it would! It also is going to be a home that will be flipped within a year or so…I know you will make it look fabulous!

Hi, love your plans!! Some food for thought: I just painted my bathroom (2 days ago) with Glidden paint (Soft Suede) in semi-gloss. The color on my walls was a cream color. The Glidden paint did NOT cover with one coat and I had to put 2 coats of paint on the walls. I was shocked since the cream color was so light. Also, the Glidden paint was very,very runny. This was my first AND last time using Glidden. Oh, and it's funny but "Olivewood" was in my top 3 choices but since my bath has no window, I chose Soft Suede instead. Good luck and can't wait to see your finished kitchen!

Cindy, my daughter does this type of thing in Austin very successfully. She's unafraid of her decisions, rips & tears at will, and they always turn out beautifully. Her husband of 1 years lives in fear that one of them won't sell. What a great job you're doing. Cannot wait to see the finished product. I'm in the middle of thinking if I need to knock a wall down so we can have a view to the outside in our very very dated kitchen. Trouble is, I won't know when to stop. xx's
