Don’t be afraid to mix and match your existing dinnerware with a few interesting seasonal accents. Let’s talk about how to create a collected fall tablescape on a budget.

The above was an aspirational tablescape I created during Covid. This was a budget tablescape for me because I used what I had and didn’t purchase anything. I have linked what is available below.

I have several sets of dinnerware, so the last thing I need is another complete set, but it is fun to create a collected table by mixing and matching dinnerware. All you need is a set of neutral plates (that you probably already own) as a base. Layer salad plates with unique patterns, colors or textures that contrast or compliment your existing dinnerware on top. Shop thrift, or resale stores and sites for unique pieces. You can also often find interesting chargers, napkins, flatware, and napkin rings.

Ideas for a Collected Seasonal Table
Let’s have some fun this fall season with our table decor. There is no need to go out and purchase an entire set of dinnerware.Below I have created five options with high and low options in glassware, flatware.

I have been coveting the Juliska Forest Walk salad plates (definitely not budget friendly), so I created a dream place setting around them.I have not seen them on any of the resale sites or I would already own them. I am not a huge fan (personally) of holiday specific dinnerware due to its limited lifespan. This pattern could be used from fall until Spring. You could create a simple centerpiece for the table that repeats the elements on the plates. The fabulous tortoise votives are from Two’s Company on Amazon here.

The pretty blue damask plates were my inspiration for this tablescape. Mini pumpkins or Cinderella pumpkins in different sizes and colors can be your focal point. You could also combine realistic looking faux pumpkins, or pears with moss or greenery for fall color on a simple linen tablecloth.

The pretty blue goblets and the faux bois chargers, and votives are from Amazon. The blue damask plates from Pottery Barn are on sale and also come in neutral, red and green.

I am really coveting these inexpensive oak leaf plates. I might pull the trigger and order a set! What would be prettier than a mix of leaves cascading down the center of the table with some candle holders scattered in?

Nearly all of the elements in the tablescape are reasonable. The napkin rings are from Amazon here. The napkins are from World Market. I found the flatware on eBay and the bronze votives, and the amber tumblers are also from Amazon.

Another blogger (I cannot remember who) found a set of plates similar to these Royal Stafford transferware plates at the Goodwill. What a find! These can be found on resale sites as well.

Vintage Royal Staffordshire plates are the foundation of this tablescape. A pretty fall centerpiece for the dining table might be a table runner with a simple bottle tablescape with fall leaves and fresh flowers. Keep the bottles low so everyone can see over them. The goblets are from Amazon, as are the wicker chargers, the bronze votives, and the acorn napkin rings. The linen napkins are from Quince.

Don’t be afraid to embrace an unusual color combination. These Juliska Estate salad plated can be found on resale sites. A simple bowl of figs would be a pretty centerpiece.

The plum goblets are from Amazon, as well as the plum votives, I think the pretty napkins from World Market would be lovely tied with the plum velvet ribbon from Amazon.

As you put together your fall tablescape, remember that creating a collected look is all about blending the old and new, the rough with the refined, and more importantly adding your own personality. Don’t be afraid to layer in family heirlooms or quirky finds that add personal charm. Fall is the perfect season to celebrate the beauty of imperfection. By mixing and matching what you have with a few budget-friendly additions, you can create a collected, inviting tablescape that is uniquely yours without breaking the bank.

These are just beautiful table settings – so creative and I’m so inspired by the collected look. I was brought up that everything had to match, and the china was only used on holidays. It’s so much nicer to have a more casual approach to entertaining and still enjoy a beautiful table (that can include great finds from Amazon).
I love each of those table settings. I always like to use our brown and white transferware at Thanksgiving (my favorite holiday) and mix it up each year. Like you, I don’t need more dishes, so, napkins, runners, candles, tortoise, and table cloths help me deliver a fresh vibe.
Morning Cindy! Love your table collections. Like you I don’t need one more dish or piece of silverware! So I feel like I can still get a few small cute and beautiful plates! My last post used them along with a beautiful silk scarf from Thailand. Love the orange and white mini pumpkins!! @ bushelandpickle.com
