Girls lunch, Designer Carleen & Recipes

Happy Birthday USA, Happy Sunday, and welcome to my Sunday fab five with Classic Casual Home, and Most Lovely Things. Warning this week’s post is recipe-heavy.  I won’t be cooking this weekend as we are going on a picnic today at Eden Rift Vineyards, and tomorrow we are heading to see little Summer and family. Let’s have a little fun and take a look at Girls’ lunch designer Carleen and recipes.

GIRLS LUNCH DESIGNER CARLEEN & RECIPES

THE BEST BURGERS ON THE PLANET

Have you ever tried a recipe of Ina’s that isn’t good?  These burgers are one of the best I have ever tried.  Her Niman Ranch Burgers check all my boxes for a great burger.

CARLEEN

Carleen, I am in love. Carleen is a Los Angeles-based womenswear collection designed by Kelsy Parkhouse. “Kelsy Parkhouse founded Carleen in May of 2012 after receiving positive reviews for her thesis collection at Pratt Institute where she also received the inaugural Liz Claiborne Concept to Product Award.” Everything is made locally in Los Angeles, often from recycled quilts, vintage tablecloths, and fabrics. Both Anthropologie, Madewell, and Free People offer items from her collection. You can find her full collection here.

CARLEEN SUN DRESS

This dress is pricey but wouldn’t you rather have a one-of-a-kind dress that “says you”, rather than something that is mass-produced that you will wear once, and look just like everyone else? I would wear this dress with simple earrings, a crushable hat, sneakers, and a jean jacket.  If sleeveless doesn’t work for you tie that favorite j crew linen shirt at the waist, it’s on sale! Also, love the gap icon jacket in the faded wash for summer.  I have had mine for years.  It just keeps getting better with age.  All items linked below the graphic.

OUR FAMILY’S FAVORITE POTATO SALAD

This is my friend Rusty’s potato salad recipe.  It is far and away my family’s favorite.  It is great with grilled meat, corn on the cob, you name it.  I have tried many others but this is our favorite.

GIRLS LUNCHEON

It was so fun to meet up with my blogging pals and our friend Heidi last week in Santa Cruz.  I haven’t been to a girls luncheon in ages. We missed The Contessa, but shopped in her honor!

SERENA AND LILY 25% OFF OUTDOOR

We sold nearly every piece of outdoor furniture we own with the sale of our last two homes.  I cannot believe how expensive outdoor furniture has gotten.  I am on the hunt for some dining & lounge chairs.  I like this collection from Serena and Lily.

WILLIAMS SONOMA HOME WAREHOUSE SALE

Unfortunately the manchester chairs I have my eye on are still not on sale, but I am about ready to bite the bullet and purchase them.

Thank you so much for reading Girls Lunch, designer Carleen & Recipes.  Have a wonderful 4th weekend with friends and family.  Next week on the blog is fashion-heavy.  I am joining Kim & Sarah for signature style (we are talking hats), and our Project Design gang for travel fashion.  It should be a fun week.

We too moved after being in our home 44 years! Outdoor furniture is expensive…check out Jensen…beautiful! The other surprise is how long you have to wait to get any kind of custom furniture! Thanks for all your suggestions…love Ina too…her poratomsalad is great!

I know you must be looking forward to seeing your sweet granddaughter. Grandchildren light up our lives, don’t you think? When we moved from our home of 35 years, we sold a lot of things that I thought I was ready for new. Then when I started shopping I was shocked at how much more expensive it was to buy replacement pieces. You’ll get what you need, you’re a savvy shopper.
