Five Favorites that will Have you Craving Red

Happy Sunday! Today I am joining Annie and Mary Ann for our Sunday fun. Today I am sharing five favorites that will have you craving red.

BEAUTIFUL INTERIORS – ALESSANDRA BRANCA

Does anyone do red better than Alessandra Branca? I love all that she does but the beach section of her portfolio has me dreaming of the tropics. You can see Allesandra Branca’s entire portfolio here.

Don’t you love the unexpected touch of red on the railing? Does anyone else wish to be right here on this balcony in the Bahamas?

I would love to do a slipcovered headboard in one of our new bedrooms. It could be switched out seasonally which would be fun.

I can’t imagine a prettier room in the tropics than this. Oh and that chandelier…perfection…

OUTFIT OF THE WEEK

I am always on the hunt for the perfect red. When I spotted this (it’s supposed to be a dress but I would wear it as a tunic) from J Crew I ordered it right away. FYI it comes in classic, petite, tall and extended sizes, and it is on sale!! I adore the scalloped leggings from Lyssee. Fun accessories top off the look.

VERY RALPH

Forgive me if I mentioned this already. Have you seen Very Ralph on HBO? It’s wonderful. I have always admired him but do so even more after watching this. I have to admit I have watched it several times. He has many of the same people working for him that have for years, he is a devoted family man, and he still looks amazing at 82!

TOMATOES AREN’T JUST FOR SUMMER

I know I know tomatoes are best at their peak, but I love them year-round. Trader Joe’s carries the multi-colored cherry tomatoes year-round and they are good in this salad this time of year if you are craving summer salads like me. This yummy tomato salad Two Peas in the Pod can be found here.

Friday I sent out the “long-awaited” (because it took me forever to get it ready) weekly wrap-up newsletter. I hope you enjoyed it. You overwhelmingly voted for one on the annual poll. It’s a good way to catch up on a post that you may have missed during the week. Let me know how you like it, and if I can improve it in any way.

That’s it for me. Thanks for sharing part of your Sunday and reading Five Favorites that will have you Craving Red. You can find all of my Sunday favorites right here. Be sure and pop over and visit my pals for more fun.

So much good stuff to unpack here, Cindy. Those coastal interiors … and a headboard slip cover. What a great idea! I’m so looking forward to and summer and your outfit of the week + tomatoes … all the summer feels. I loved the Very Ralph documentary and its time to watch it again. Once was not enough. Love Kim’s home office and I have a bad case of home office envy. She’s so talented and effortlessly chic in all she does. Happy week! xo

    Hi Cindy,
I love the idea of a slipcovered headboard. I would love to have covers that reflect California’s two-season weather.
I loved the Ralph Lauren documentary. I have only seen it once but enjoyed it so much I think I would like to see it again.

I agree about the slipcovers. I am going to have to figure out how to pull that off. I feel the same way about Very Ralph. I had to watch it again!

This is an Awesome Post. Omg Love the Color. Red, and do use this color just as they say we should have something Black as well.
I have very old french bookcase, bought it is was
painted Red, and left it that color.

Red in Clothing to Interior and Exterior is Amazing.

      Hi Karen

You are always so supportive and I can’t thank you enough! You are the best!!

  4. Shannon says

    Lots of good things today!
I actually do slipcover my headboards. It’s so easy to change your look from summer to winter, print to texture or even voile to velvet.
Will have to look at the reds, too!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Shannon

I wish I could sew. I love the possibilities. I would love the versatility. I will have to have someone do it for me! Will you be in your shop tomorrow by any chance? I will stop by if so!

  5. Heidi says

    Hi Cindy,
Fun things today! That salad looks so tasty, I like the variety of tomato salads that can be created by adding different dressings and ingredients. And I usually have all the fixings on hand.
I made a slipcover for my metal headboard, for when I wanted a softer look. It was quilted fabric appliquéd with birds and branches. So fun to make,
I’m not usually a red fan but that house in the tropics, so unexpected! Really pretty.
Hope you’re having a good weekend!

      Hi Heidi

I am not a huge red fan but love that house as well. I need to wear more red I know! Thanks for weighing in!

Cindy loved everything today. Alessandra Branca has ling been one of my favorites and she loves red. It looks so good in a coastal home for a change from the usual blue. Love that tunic and the Ray-Bans! Thank you for sharing my office. Was very sweet of you. I am craving summer food and that salad looks so good. I have to try it tonight with some pizzas we are making. By the way, I also adore the Ralf bio!! I want to follow that woman who has been with him forever, also a visionary. I don’ t think she’s on Instagram. Have a great rest of the week. xo

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kim

I do not believe she is Buffy Britella. She just retired or is retiring soon. I am sure that will be a great loss to him. It is amazing that he is still working hard in his 80’s. Very Inspiring !

  7. Susan says

I did slip covered headboards on the twins in my guest room. I used a neutral for the gussets and ties and two separate prints for the front and back. Two looks, one bill.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Susan, I love that idea of a different fabric on the front and back. I think I might copy you! Thank you for sharing!

  8. Linda says

Happy Sunday back to ya! On the slip cover headboard idea ….. My guest room has antique twin bed headboards so I can’t use your idea to cover, but I’ve made a neutral guest room and then made seasonal bed runners, throw pillows, and dresser linens, It is so much fun to change everything with the month or season. I even had to revamp a hall closet so I could store the colorful linens.

Look forward to your blog and love, love, love your style and ideas!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Linda

I hear you about storing the linens! I have a minuscule linen closet in this house. All of my pillow covers etc. are currently stored in my office. Thank you so much for sharing!

  9. Beth25 says

I love Barca’s Interiors. I think I have her design book memorized. Your right nobody does red better. I am excited to see her new Palm Beach stows! Red can been tricky for me, but I will check the tunic out.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

I think she is Alessandra Barca has a new book in the works. It looks like she is doing some neutral recently as well. So looking forward to another book!

      • Beth25 says

I will look forward to studying the new book. I decided to order the red top and sneakers for a trip in April to Sea Island. I think it looks like fun.

        • Cindy Hattersley says

          Hi Beth

Sea Island in Aprl sounds like fun to me! I love that red top! It’s great in the black and biscuit too!

How can I access the newsletter you sent out? I’ve been following you for a couple of years but never subscribed until now. Thank you, love your blog!

slipcovered headboards…brilliant. Like changing your pillows for a new look. I just told Teresa…”we need to watch Very Ralph!” Think Howard will like it?

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Mary Ann

I think you and Teresa will love the Ralph documentary. I am not sure about Howard. Steve hasn’t watched it but I am not sure that he wouldn’t enjoy it too. For sure you and Teresa will love it!

    • Wren says

The Bahamas house is so dreamy. I love the coral-red used. The slipcovered headboard seems like it’s an idea that should be used more often since it give so much flexibility.
Have always love Ralph Lauren’s classic styles (that aren’t too horsey).
Lastly, I’ve found the Campari tomatoes at TJs to always be good and actually taste like tomatoes. This recipe looks like a keeper!

      • Cindy Hattersley says

        Hi Wren

I agree about the TJ’s tomatoes! I am with you about the Equestrian stuff of RL, since I am not a horse person either.
