What to Buy at Quince and What to Pass On
If you have been reading this blog long you know I am a big fan of online retailer Quince. Their promise is they offer direct to consumer pricing allowing them to provide quality pieces at reasonable prices. Some pieces really deliver, they are beautifully made, timeless, and worth every penny while some not so much. Today I’m sharing my honest take on what to buy at Quince and what to pass on.
To be honest, I haven’t experienced any real misses with Quince products when it comes to quality. My only misses have been pieces that simply didn’t suit my personal style.
What to Buy at Quince and What to Pass On
Wardrobe Staples
You can’t go wrong with linen separates in the summer.

I have worn Quince’s linen shirts and linen pants throughout the summer and will continue to wear them into the fall. The linen is very high quality and easy to care for.

The linen in Quinces pajamas appears to be of the same quality as their linen separates. I wear these pajama sets in the summer and these long sleeve sets in the winter. I am wearing a small. I love the organic Turkish waffle robe for summer (I have a small).
Probably my favorite quince pieces are their cashmere sweaters. I will say that some of the more traditional styles run small and are not my favorites.

Clockwise from left:
Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman’s Hoodie, Mongolian Cashmere V-Neck (I am wearing a large because it is a traditional style), Mongolian Cashmere Crew Neck (this is a traditional style so I also sized up to a large) They now have an oversized fit. I would try that if you like them oversized. The last two sweaters (the boxy crewneck) are my favorites. I am wearing a medium. They have just enough shape that they aren’t too boxy. I plan to order the gray and the camel this winter as well. I also have the Australian merino duster cardigan (unbelievable quality) which my daughter snagged, and I just ordered the fishermans cardigan which per her request as well. I am not a fan of the batwing cashmere sweater (the quality is good I just don’t care for the style). The traditional crew neck and v-neck are not my favorites. If I size up for a more oversized look the sleeves are too long. Again it has nothing to do with quality. If you like traditional sizing, it is not an issue. I ordered the cropped cable knit in a large. The jury is out on that one too!

I love this cotton (with a touch of spandex) ribbed top. I own it in black and olive. I am wearing a medium. It is a great option for layering in early fall. If I ordered it again I would order a large for a looser fit (to cover the spare tire).
Summer’s Faves

This dress is one of Summer’s favorites (she is wearing a 12). She also loves this dress, and these pajamas for summer, and these pajamas for later in the year. They are very similar to the Hannah Anderson pj’s that wear for ever. She also loves this swimsuit.
Steve’s faves
Steve loves these shirts for golf, and these shorts. He has this linen shirt in several colors, and these linen shorts. This cashmere zip up is his favorite sweater. He loves these joggers way too much and wears them places I wish he wouldn’t!!
Bags

I own the MZ wallace bag that Quince duped here. I recently purchased the transit phone bag, and the italian leather tote above. Jenna has this woven leather crossbody and is very happy with it. I recently purchased this wallet. I love the size and the small pocket on the front where I keep the cards I use all the time. Steve loves this money clip wallet for its’ size and convenience.
Steve and I own the Quince suitcase bundle and cannot tell the difference between it and our Away version. I also have this quilted bag for Travel (It has a crossbody strap in addition to the handles). It is the perfect overnight bag as well.
Sunglasses
I bought this pair for Jenna, ( I am thinking about having Kyla order perscription lenses for this pair , I love them) and this pair for Lauren.
For the Home

We love the linen sheets, and this cotton airy blanket for summer. I recently purchased the checked linen sheets (I couldn’t find a picture) in tan for our bedroom and green for the guest bedroom. I wish they made twin sheets!

This bergamot basil diffuser would be a wonderful gift. I also love the candle, and intend trying the yozu and the currant versions as well.
These napkins continually sell out for a reason. They are identical to another high end retailers and a third the price. We love this gingham tablecloth on our small outdoor table. I failed to get a picture, but will post a photo later today. We have these towels in our guestroom and Summer’s room.
You can find all of my Quince favorites here. I will add more to this list as I try more products. Keep the link handy and check back. You might also enjoy reading my other posts on Quince here.
I hope this list ( it is massive!) will help guide you if you are shopping at Quince. At the end of the day, Quince really shines when it comes to timeless wardrobe staples, great travel products, and home essentials. While not every item may suit everyone’s taste or needs, I’ve found that focusing on their classic, well-made offerings is the best way to shop the brand. I’d love to hear if you’ve tried Quince and if so what items you buy and which you pass on.
Now let’s pop over and visit Mary Ann and Annie for their favorites!

Cindy,
Sorry for the late question I am getting caught up on emails.
Thanks for the overview on Quince. I see that you have one of the cashmere sweaters in varsity red. Can you please advise if it is a warm red or cool re?
Many Thanks!
Hi Susan
I would say it is a cooler red. It is what I would consider a true red. There are no yellow undertones. It honestly is one of my favorite sweaters. I just love it!!
I wanted to mention the Quince curtains. I have several sets of the linen, cotton-lined (not blackout) curtains and love them. Better than the Pottery Barn ones I have. Nice weight and have more “body” to them than the PB version for approximately half the price. Highly recommend!
Hi Angie
Thank you so much for chiming in! I really like the two pages curtains. I had forgotten Quince makes curtains. I wonder if anyone else has tried them. I have PB in Summers room and they are okay because they are blackout. The others aren’t very substantial.
I really like your “summer bed” and especially the dust ruffle/bedskirt. I don’t see this item in Quince. Where did you find your light and breezy ruffle? Thank you in advance.
Hi Christine
I have had the bedskirt for several years. You can find them on Etsy here https://go.shopmy.us/p-24187713
You can order them in different lengths. Most online offerings are too short.
I love Quince also. I have ordered so much from jeans, cashmere sweaters, tops, and leggings. Just ordered my first pair of leggings and immediately ordered another pair after I put them on. Also ordered a some linens. I order for gifts for my daughter and daughter in law. They love it. Have not tried the men’s cloths but will now. They are easy to return things to. Love your articles Cindy!!
Hi Debbie
I have their leggings as well. They are very soft but I need them to be a little more supportive to compress the fat ha ha!!
Cindy! You look great in every single outfit! I love how you wear the linen pajamas like sets! You look gorgeous in everything! And Summer in that black dress and and raffia hat! She takes after you!
Xx
Hi Annie
That is my hat!! She can wear an adult hat!! She snagged it and wore it!
I also have purchased a variety of items from Quince and find them to be of good quality. My only complaint is , as with many retailers, they don’t offer petite sizing so some of the tanks , dresses and sweaters I have gotten have armholes , necklines or sleeve lengths that are too big. Yes, I am familiar with having things altered but why should I have to? Please make petites Quince.
Hi Fran
I agree with you. I don’t understand why more retailers don’t do extended sizing. Why do men’s shirts and pants sleeve lengths, neck sizes, and pant lengths? It doesn’t seem fair…
I agree! Thank you for posting that!
Hi Pam
I am very surprised they don’t either!!
I love Quince and have nothing but praise in their products and service. Their products run true to size except when ordering ribbed shirts and I will order a size up so that they don’t cling. The sweaters are wonderful and prices are out of this world for outstanding quality!
Hi Cindy, in one of the photos, you are wearing a gray pleated skirt with black sweater. Is the skirt from Quince? I love it!
Kathy
Hi Kathy
That is an old Banana Republic skirt from several years back. I will keep my eye out for a similar one. Try eBay and Poshmark
I am interested in knowing how to go about getting prescription lenses in the sunglasses. I love their glasses, but have not purchased due to them not being able to buy in prescription strength. Do you use a specific company? Thank you so much!
Hi Sasha
I can get them done locally here and I have also used lensable online
Here is the link https://go.shopmy.us/p-24055252
I love Quince. I have jeans, a denim shirt, linen pants and blouses, cashmere sweaters, bedding, joggers, a bathrobe and as you can see I have been very happy with the quality and the customer service of Quince. Thanks for featuring your purchases and giving us ideas.
Hi CV
Their jeans are nice as well…I forgot about them!!
Hi Cindy… thanks for this post – I love Quince as well! I’m always in a quandary as to sizing. I want to order the ribbed cashmere/ cotton sweater but not sure if small or medium, I wear the small in the crew neck cashmere but don’t want the ribbed one too clingy. I’m concerned the medium sleeves might be too long and with that bell design they could be annoying. What do you think?
Hi Judy
I always shove my sleeves up so I am probably not the one to ask. I own that shirt in two colors and I wear it all the time. I would get a large if I were ordering again. I like a slim fit but not one that shows all my rolls!!
Cindy, Thanks for sharing your opinions on Quince- So many items I can’t wait to try! I recent got the Bella wide leg denim pants and love them and I am such a fan of their washed velvet coverlets, linen duvets and bamboo sheets. The bamboo sheets are sublime to sleep on! And the neutral colors are perfect together. Quince is my go to for online shopping.
Cindy,
This is the most helpful post! I have wanted to try Quince but didn’t know where to start. I am placing an order now thanks to your explanation and recommendations.
Hi Diane
I think you will be happy with your purchases. I plan to buy several Xmas gifts.
I like everything I’ve ever ordered from Quince. I ordered a duvet at the start of August it was delivered 25 days later with few updates and zero explanation for the long shipping time. I am not sure if this is due to the current conditions coming from you know who in DC or what. I love the duvet and my cat will not sleep anywhere but on it. Just wanted to put this out there in case you really want something.
Hi KW
Normally I receive my items super fast! However if you order something that is out of stock it can take forever. I ordered a pair of sandals that took forever! I did know they were out of stock however.
Great post, Cindy! Love Quince and the way you pull everything together. I cannot wait for fall – pulling out the sweaters, jeans and long sleeve shirts. As always, thanks for the inspiration, BTW – you look so darn cute in baseball hats! Anna in Arizona!
Hi Anna
I bet it has been hot in AZ! We had a mild summer this year so I am not as tired of the heat as I normally am this time of year. I love my baseball caps. I do get comments occasionally from women who think I shouldn’t wear them at my age. It hasn’t stopped me yet!!
Love Quince..thanks to you! I have the suede tote and love it (A last years Christmas gift). If ordering Christmas gifts I’d order soon as my tote took a couple months to receive. The sweaters I agree that many run a bit too small so I order up as well.
The diffusers must be popular as all are sold out but the Bergamot:0)
Unfortunately, Quince does not ship to Canada. I did look at the linens again, but sure enough only US pops up for shipping. I usually try to by pass these blogs so I am not lusting after clothes I cannot have!
Hi Cath
I understand!! I will ask if they ever intend to ship to Canada.
I wonder why when their product is direct ship from manufacture. It doesn’t make any sense. They’re losing on a much bigger market world wide. I’ve contacted them but didn’t receive a suitable answer.
Cindy this posting is SO helpful for me! I am new to Quince but have found several pieces that I like a lot. Your lists has expanded my wishlist! Thanks so much!
Hi Sally
I am so glad you found it helpful!!
I do like Quince products and own cashmere and a few linen pieces . For linen, take a look at Lintico clothing. Prices are great and the quality is better than Quince.
Hi Becky
I will take a look at Lintico!!
Cindy,
It might not be cost effective, but if you really like the sheets, have then altered by a seamstress. If you plan it right, you might have leftover material to make shams, pillowcases, or a tailored bed skirt, Just a thought.
Hi Kim
I have not yet found a seamstress here to work with! If anyone knows someone please share!
Great article Cindy! We love quince in our home as well. I own several of the same pieces you have and agree they have some styles that just don’t make me feel good wearing. Their linen pants and shorts are definitely my “go to’s” all summer long . I wear their vneck cashmeres throughout most of the winter (even wore the fisherman cashmere a few evenings this summer.) I recently bought a few of their silk pieces ( tanks) and they are very nice as well- nice polished pieces. Looking forward to trying a dress or skirt in the near future. Thanks again for your thorough post.
I have a pair of black dress pants, pull-ons, and a pair of navy. I love them and they’re only $39.90. Good stretch fabric that really holds up! I have several of their cashmere sweaters as well and I love them too!
I’m glad to see you ordered the Italian Leather Tote. I’m getting ready to order three for Christmas Gifts. Are you pleased with the bag?
Hi Lee ann
Very! It even has feet on it to protect the bottom! No one does than anymore!!
I have bought a few of their cashmere things. Most of them I haven’t really put to the test yet because I haven’t worn them much but the one I have worn a lot has let me down. I got the zip front hoodie to wear on a winter vacation in 2022 and I have to say that it has pilled terribly. I have used the special cashmere comb on it to the point where I’m afraid of making it “bald”. I wonder if I ordered the same sweater now if the quality might have changed. I really do like the style!
Hi Wren
I have to say that even my very expensive cashmere tends to pill. I do not own that zip up hoodie so I cannot comment on it. Maybe someone else will chime in!
I have 4 Quince v neck cashmere sweaters in gray, camel, ivory, & black. They are wonderful & wash nicely! No need to dry clean. I also bought their huarache sandals & they are so comfortable, no need to break them in. Definitely quality at affordable prices.
Hi Holly
You are correct you should never dry clean cashmere. It breaks down the fibers. I wash mine in the washer on delicate with cold water and they wash beautifully!
Love Quince!
Hi Dottie
I do too as you can tell ha ha!!
I’ve bought 2 pair of linen slacks from Quince and love them ! They wash up nicely and are so comfortable when the weather is like a blast furnace.
Hi Arlene
I love my linen pants from Quince! I wear them all the time!
So great to know about the diffusers… I want to order.
Hi Mary Ann
I took a chance and it was a win!
