A Tiny Maine Cottage that is Big on Style & Healthy Aging Tips
There’s something magical about a tiny cottage that lives large, and this charming Maine retreat is proof. Nestled in a postcard-perfect setting, it makes the most of every square inch with interesting design choices, clever storage solutions, and tons of character. The best part? It’s brimming with personality and style without feeling fussy or overdone. There is a lot of inspiration here. It is exactly the kind of space that inspires me to rethink how we can all make our homes more welcoming, no matter the size. I know many of you have downsized and are always asking for ideas for smaller spaces. It’s Sunday so Let’s check out a tiny Maine cottage that is big on style and healthy aging tips!
A Tiny Maine Cottage that is Big on Style & Healthy Aging Tips

The green front door is the icing on the cake!

I love the mix of the modern stainless appliances with the reclaimed wood cabinetry.

Ghost chairs are a genius choice, making the dining area appear larger than it is

The rustic beams draw the eye upward and add character to this small but mighty stylish bedroom.
Fresh Grape Salsa

I know it might sound a little quirky, but it’s honestly so good. Our grape crop always ripens all at once, so we end up with more grapes than we know what to do with this time of year. When we were heading to our wine group last week (I forgot to take a picture), Steve asked if there was some sort of appetizer to make with grapes. My first thought was no! I thought of crostini as a possibility, and then I stumbled across this recipe that is seriously so good! I also added a small persian cucumber to the mix. You honestly can’t mess this recipe up and it is even better the next day. I served it with blue and yellow corn chips.

Outfits of the Week
Jeans are back in rotation for fall in Paso, and I love styling them with interesting layers and accessories that make a look unique.

I adore this Ralph Lauren (on sale) jacket. It could be worn so many different ways than I have shown here. You could replace the belt with a more interesting belt (you can find my faves here), or wear it open with a favorite tee.
Shop Outfit of the Week
Here is another version you could wear to work our out to dinner with friends.

Ageist Movement vs. Exercise: Why the Distinction Matters
I absolutely love the Ageist magazine. It has so many helpful tips on aging “awesomely”. This podcast with biochemist and author Katy Bowman that is really insightful. Katy is the author of I Know I should Exercise But, Dynamic Aging, and Move Your DNA. I feel like we are either guilty of over-exercising at our age or not doing enough.
Labor Day Sales
I’ve been browsing around for interesting fall pieces that you can mix in with your treasured basics to make your style feel more personal. There’s so much good stuff out there right now! I’m no fashionista, but I really believe that when we dress in a way that shares our individual style and personality, we will feel better and embrace our age with confidence. Many of these sales are featuring new fall merch so if you are looking for something check them out.

CLASSIC CASUAL HOME

I love Sunday Faves. Now I’m off to explore Ageist and planning when to use the grape salsa and telling myself I don’t need that RL jacket … or do I? Best to you.
Hi Susan
I will share that jacket on Thursday!!
Cindy what lovely cottage you found! The door color is so good. I want both of these looks and would wear that jacket a ton. The bag and the brown bandana are so lovely for fall. Grape salsa sounds good. WE Californians need that recipe.
I’m excited it’s September!
xo
Cindy! I’m fully onboard the downsizing train and that Maine cottage is right up my alley. Darling. Grape salsa … brilliant. Sounds so refreshing especially during this – hopefully brief – heatwave. Love the RL jacket. I’m so looking forward to fall. xo
Hi Cindy,
Lovely post thank you! That gorgeous interior and I love your shop and all your amazing finds. I love nuts and try and have a few walnuts every day as they are excellent for brain health! Take care xo
Stop it! PF Flyers!
I couldn’t stand it and ordered the cream color. Didn’t realize they still made those. How fun.
Love from Ojai.
I have been looking for a hat like the one in the kitchen of the Main cottage. In your meanderings through the shopping world have you seen any like that one, or any ideas where I might look? thanks mucho
Cindy…. that hat in the kitchen of the Maine cottage is just what I have been looking for. In your meanderings through shopping web sites have you seen any like that one?
Hi Dianne
I would check Etsy. If I see something like that I will let you know! I tried a google image search and nothing turned up!
that kitchen in the Main cottage is dreamy!!!!! I love a mix of rustic and modern!
I am def making the grape salsa today…. I have some limes that I might use instead of vinegar. Anyway – it looks delish! thanks
Cindy! I love that cozy Maine cottage! I’m so drawn to using rustic wood for cabinets! Especially lower cabinets! It’s so practical and looks amazing! The ghost chairs are a perfect choice too!
Xx
Hi Annie
Me too! Love the cabinetry! The ghost chairs are fabulous in that tiny spot aren’t they?
FUN post, Cindy. Exercise and protein…just what I need!
