Since most of us will be spending the holidays close to home this year, my friend Jennifer from A Well Styled Life and I thought this month for our fashion edit over 50 we would share some ideas for a simple holiday at home. Let’s face it we will all be happy to get out of our sweats for a day or two, I am back today with a few IBU items (so many are already sold out) that I think you will enjoy .Let’s have a little Fashion Over 50 Holiday at Home fun.
If you didn’t have a chance to read my post for Ageless Style on IBU founder Susan Hull Walker you can read it here. Her brick and mortar store is located in beautiful Charleston one of my favorite cities. Isn’t it beautiful decked out for the holidays?
The inside, I think I could get into a lot of trouble here. Maybe it is a good thing we can’t travel right now.
I certainly don’t consider myself a fashionista but many of you have asked about my accessories and how I accessorize my outfits. I love scarves. I am a bit of a “scarfaholic”. Most of my jewelry is silver or metal (more flattering with the gray locks). I have a collection of American Indian pieces that my husband has gifted me over the years. I also have a collection of vintage silver that I have also collected over time. I also love bone and horn (sustainable water buffalo horn or vintage). I watch Ebay and Etsy for good prices on items I love and I love supporting small boutiques like IBU.
I thought I would show you a couple of ways to accessorize two items from IBU. First, the Mondria Scarf worn a couple of ways that you may not have considered. You can get a lot more bang for your buck if you treat it like a jacket or coat. Imagine how expensive a jacket with this same look would be.
A SCARF WORN AS A JACKET
If the scarf is long and wide enough you have a lot of options.
In this photo, I am wearing the Mondria Felted Scarf (unfortunately sold out). This scarf could be worn similarly, and they have other beautiful scarves here I am wearing it with a simple black turtleneck, Spanx faux leather leggings, bed stu boots, a concho belt inherited from my mother in law, collected navajo bangles, and Native American cross earrings. I have linked some similar concho belts (some more price-friendly) below or you can search on Ebay here, or Etsy here

Of course you could wear the scarf tied around the neck but that’s no fun, right? Here I am wearing the same scarf worn over one shoulder and kept in place with a vintage rhinestone pin. I am wearing rhinestone earrings and bracelets. I added a pair of comfy birdies velvet flats as well. All items or similar are linked below.

A SHAGGY COAT WITH A LOT OF PIZAZZ
I am crazy about the fabulous IBU Movement Medusa Coat (that is unfortunately sold out). Check out the very similar cleo shawl jacket here. Under the jacket I am wearing an older Jcrew Metallic Shirt that is no longer available but you can find on Ebay here, similar linked below., the ibu movement (artemis design) slides on sale here, and an older pair of Zara skinny pants similar linked below. I accessorized the outfit with vintage bone earrings, and a celluloid brooch, similar linked below.
SHOP THE LOOK
Here I am pairing the Medusa Jacket with my favorite Spanx Faux Leather leggings ( I know you are getting tired of hearing about them but they are the best), my Bed Stu Manchester Boots, J Crew Cashmere T-neck, this gorgeous IBU necklace (on sale) vintage bone earrings (similar linked below) These IBU earrings would be gorgeous as well. and the Wren hat from Gigi Pip. All available items and substitutes linked below pic.
SHOP THE LOOK
You can shop the entire IBU collection here, and they have some great items (including the artemis slides and the horn necklace) on sale here
I hope you enjoyed Fashion over 50 Holiday at Home. Don’t be afraid to dress up a bit even if there will be only two of you. Set a pretty table and dress as if you were having guests. There is light at the end of the tunnel at last. Now pop over and visit Jennifer. I know she wil have some good ideas to share.

Cindy! I love how imaginative you are with your dress still staying true to your own signature style. You are so creative with wearing scarves. I had no idea it was a scarf and nota true jacket until I kept reading. I adore all of your accessories. I love each look!
xx
Cindy,
I love this style and I especially appreciate the inspiration to dress up a little. I’m ready for Christmas and I look forward to dressing a little better—even when the temptation is to wear those oh-so-comfy yoga pants. Haha.
Great post.
Karen

I’m in love with the IBU scarf and have looked at the ones currently in stock, but they don’t catch my attention like the one you’re wearing. As always, you are beautiful. xoxox, Brenda
From Susan at Ibu – do check back with us to see more scarves. We carry them year round and are always getting new colors and styles – they are always a huge hit!
Hi Brenda
I know that scarf is so incredible I am so sorry it is sold out! I bet being a Texas girl you have the concho belt to cinch it as well!
Love the IBU scarf as a jacket! You look amazing…so put together yet relaxed. Love this post.
Cindy I love all these looks on you. That white jacket is darling and I cannot believe how much you do with that scarf. You are a fantastic stylist. You could have done that for a career besides your design business. Also you look good in everything , so that helps! I think I am going to have to get those Spanx finally… and I LOVE that mule too. It’s all your gorgeous pieces that make the outfit…a beautiful mix! I would make a trip just to go to that IBU shop! Maybe we need a girl’s trip there when Covid is done. Great posts! xo
Do come see us in Charleston – girl’s trip – how fun!
We would love to! We were planning a trip last Spring!
Cindy, what are the dimensions of this great scarf. Thank you.
Great outfit inspiration Cindy ! I also wanted to let you know that I made the tomato roast pepper soup – delicious ! and served it as the sauce for spinach ravioli with some crumbled feta & basil – fab !!
You look stunning in all these looks! I knew you would.
I’ve not worn horn or bone jewelry before but you have me intrigued. I love accessories with history and meaning.
These IBU pieces look so perfect on you.
Thanks for always inspiring me to be more creative with my outfits.
thank you so much Jennifer always fun to do these!!
Hi AJ
As I sit here in yoga pants for another day, I am dreaming of 2021, entertaining again and dressing in beautiful IBU!
You’ve inspired me to get out of my yoga pants and dress up a little! Thank you!
Jennifer And Cindy have hit home runs with me! Love the idea of being a bit classy casual with an emphasis on casual. You both look sensational! If I’m staying home or not (thus year we will be alone) I want to look like it’s the holidays! In my mind and in my heart I want to show it! Champagne mussels and lobsters on the table- I’ll be decked out in velours or velvet and baubles!
Hi Paulette
You made my day! Love your attitude! Thanks so much for lifting our spirits!
