Dear Cindy I appreciate the discussion of a laundry room..wish I had one. Many people live in small condos and the laundry area is a closet or worse having a machine in the kitchen which I do…a stackable. My real estate friend says better having one than not even if it is where it is! A couple of other units here have been able to redo the plumbing and have their washing machines in a repurposed large walk -in clothing area or a second bathroom. Living in small spaces is a challenge but Americans are used to large areas unlike many other countries. I am always looking at homes in the EU to find solutions for smaller arrangements. Donnie
Our house is a downsize for us but clever builder managed to fit a small sink into it with large stackable washer/dryer. You’d like my ironing board and it’s wall hanger and the drying rack that hangs! I think they were was from a catalogue as I moved from our last house!
Wishing I could get a picture in! I’m sooo satisfied!
Hi Donnie
In our fixer upper we had our washer and dryer right when you walked in the door. We put two shelves above it, added a pull out in between the two for soap etc. I had to fold my clothes on the dining room table but it worked. I never got a photo of it as it wasn’t very photo friendly. We had to put the shelves in front of a window.
These are beautiful but having just made linen throws and linen towels I can’t imagine black in the laundry room! So much lint. I picked Mariners Blue by SW for laundry room cabinets. Looks like Tiffany blue and I used brushed gold knobs. However, it’s sort of boring, I want some very colorful ceramic knobs now. They’re either very expensive or so cheap it’s concerning. Online shopping is great but every now and then I want to see something in real life.
Hi Nancy
You are right! There is so much online shopping now that we rarely can see things before we buy. The black laundry cabinets are in my son’s home. They are immaculate, but I have never heard Lauren complain about the black. I never thought about lint!
Oh to have a laundry room! We have a laundry closet in this home serves the function and better than being in the garage but a very tight fit just for the machines. I look forward to some tips on how to better organize the tight space.
Hi Cristi
Great idea for another post. As I said above we had a very tight space in our fixer upper and made it work!!
