A Charming New England Home and More
Nora Murphy’s Home in Country Living
Country Living is a magazine I have also not paid much attention to. It is so easy to get in a rut! A home I recently featured here on my Sunday favorites made me take another look. I am loving what I have found and subscribed. Nora Murphy has written numerous books including her most recent Country House Living. Her home was photographed by Dylan Chandler, and styled by Matthew Gleason for Country Living.

You can see more of Nora Murphy’s charming home in Country Living here.
I recently partnered with Ann Taylor—a brand I’ll admit I haven’t paid much attention to in recent years. To my surprise, I’m really loving so many of their fall pieces, (although I have to say I’m less than thrilled about the abundance of synthetics across most brands this season). Ann Taylor has always held a bit of nostalgia for me. I still remember, as a young mom, planning a shopping day at what’s now Valley Fair and falling in love with their signature leopard prints.
Pieces I am Really Loving From Ann Taylor
Ann Taylor Outfits of the Week
Our temps are still in the 90’s here, so the outfit on the left could be worn now, and on the right later.

On the left I styled the leopard dress with a lightweight cashmere cardigan from J Crew, Olukai flip flops, tortoise earrings from Machete, and sunglasses from Caddis.
On the right I styled the leopard dress with a lightweight cashmere scarf from Quince, a moto jacket from Madewell (on sale), Gentle Souls booties, Warby Parker glasses, and a favorite All Saints tote.

On the right I styled these fabulous polka dot pants with a Wolf and Badger top, a Theory blazer (from Nordstrom Rack), and the same Gentle Souls booties. On the right I added a more casual mockneck from Paige, and the moto jacket from Madewell.
Skincare Products I am Trying
This is a weekly report on skin and makeup products that I have been gifted. I only mention those that I am trying and like. I am really liking the Oak Essentials refining mask. I got a treatment this week (more on that later) so I haven’t used it for a few days but I love the way it makes my skin feel. I have been using it twice a week.
What I am Watching
Is anyone else watching Untamed on Netflix? It has me on the edge of my seat. How about you?

That’s it from my desk. Thank you so much for reading A Charming New England Home and More. Have a great Sunday. Now let’s pop over and visit Annie and Marie Ann.

Sorry a little late here!
I love the pants. Might get them.
I also LOVE design, gardening and cooking posts! You post whatever interests YOU!
Hi Gray
I have been meaning to text you about the ayr jeans! They are great! I will share them next week when I post with Kim!
I started reading Country Living magazine in the 80’s but took a break when all they featured was white everything. I started up a few years ago and love it again. They brought color back!
Untamed has been renewed for Season 2, and I can’t wait to see where they will go next.
Thanks for your blog- I’ve enjoyed it for a few years now. The fashion is fine, but I really like it when you focus on interior design and California living. I’m from Texas and thoroughly enjoy a trip to wine country. We went to Paso Robles this spring, and I am aching to go back.
Hi Kathy
Thank you so much for speaking up for design oriented posts! I get a lot of criticism from the fashion peeps when I post on design.
The home featured is beautiful, especially all the shells. I finished watching Untamed last night, the scenery is spectacular. Eric Bana is wonderful, of course I’m biased as he’s from Melbourne.
Hi Rita
I am watching it with my husband which means it will take awhile! He goes to bed early!!
Cindy,
Very interested to hear the update on the Oaks mask! Looks like something I would really be interested in. I wish some of the reviewers were over 44!!!
Thanks!
Hi Nancy
I couldn’t agree more! I thought the same thing about the reviews! Maybe that is why the gifted me!! They need reviews from those of us that actually have issues!!
Hello Cindy,
I love “Country Life” and I often look there for inspiration. Lovely outfits too! Untamed was so spectacular. Happy week Cindy!
Hi Francesca!
I am loving untamed!!
Cindy! I love the layers of Nora’s beautiful home! Something always unexpected in the best possible way!
Love your Ann Taylor looks! I need to check out the store in New Canaan.
Xx
We watched Untamed and really enjoyed it. Loving the polka dot pants and all the fashion on this post.
Hi Kay
Those polka dot pants caught my eye!! I am not much for pattern, but I do love leopard and dots!!
Cindy,
I agree about the synthetics. In fact, I won’t buy any clothing unless it’s 100% biodegradable. It’s very difficult to find jeans, and, indeed, any clothing without spandex, nylon, elastane…
I don’t even really like rayon because it’s very energy intensive to produce.
Oh well…
Hi C
I am disappointed that so many of the recently “popular” items are made with synthetic. #1 they feel awful and they will be here for eternity!
Cindy, I have enjoyed your blog for several years. It would add to a relaxed Sunday morning, but it has changed. It is too full of advertising and pop ups. It feels stressful. Is someone else helping you with it these days? I appreciate the time that must go into it, but its chic sophistication is suffering. I understand not printing this note. I just am sad about it. This note is just for you.
Hi Nancy
I have not changed the ad situation at all. My only other alternative would be to move to substack and require paid subscriptions which I don’t am reluctant to do. I am going to try and group my content better. I find the ads annoying of course as well. Unfortunately producing a blog has become very expensive, and I spend about 12 hours producing each post. It is very labor intensive. That is why so many choose to just do Instagram and YouTube. Here is the link to the leopard dress https://go.shopmy.us/p-23616879. Thank you for expressing your concerns. I will do my best to make the content less disracting. The other alternative is retiring. Of course I have considered that as I am 70+!
If you happen to have a MAC, you can click on an icon (an open square with 2 lines below it) on the left side of the website bar, then click “hide distracting items” and you can literally “annihilate” every popup and distraction by pointing and clicking your mouse! (It is SO satisfying!) Just be careful you don’t click on anything that is part of the blog– use the scroll button on your keyboard instead to read through article. And be sure to click “done” on the right, when you are finished. It works well. Ads are an unfortunate bi-product of reading on the web (rather than in print) and they are over the top at this point; half the time you can’t tell if something is an ad or something Cindy is showing us.
Hi Gemma
Yes thank you for that! I meant to respond as well. I am going to try grouping (Jennifer does it) and see if the ads are less distracting. See if it helps on my next post!!
Beautiful home! It’s been awhile since checking out AnnTaylor. Thanks for sharing.
The link to leopard dress does not appear to be working. Love the pants. Enjoy your day!
Hi Karen
Here is the link to the dress https://go.shopmy.us/p-23616879 I corrected it!
Cindy, yes I’ve been watching Untamed and love it. Beautiful scenery too! Love the home you featured. I also shared one of your posts in yesterday Saturday Meanderings. I’m all about the collected, curated look. Have a fabulous week-glad animal prints are back in as I have many already!
Hi Mary
I am way behind on my blog reading! Thank you so much for linking to me!
I’ve always loved animal prints, too. Those polka dot pants are so cute.
I think you need those pants Mary Ann they would be adorable on you with your coloring!!
