Would you Like to try Collagen for Her?

Hi Ladies

Today I am partnering with Collagen for Her.  If you have been reading the blog long, you know that I have been taking Collagen for Her for well over a year. Would you Like to try Collagen for Her? Now is a great time. You can read my other posts on Collagen for Her here and here

I prefer the Collagen Peptide Powder (which comes from grass fed cattle).  If you do not eat meat you might prefer the marine collagen.  The capsules offer a multi collagen option and the gummies (which taste delicious by the way) are also fortified with Vitamin C, Zinc, Vitamin E and D.

I will be honest, I not religious about taking supplements.  My husband will tell you my Collagen is the only supplement I take absolutely every day.  Why? Because it is simple. Many collagen powder supplements have an odd taste and texture making them difficult to blend with anything else.  They don’t mix well in either hot or cool liquids.  I know I have tried them. I drink coffee every morning.  I put a scoop in the bottom of the cup, and stir it up (critical). There is absolutely no aftertaste whatsoever.  If anything it gives my coffee a hint of creaminess. Collagen peptides are usually considered the best form of collagen for ingestion. Hydrolyzed collagen means the collagen has been broken down into small peptides, which are easy for the body to digest.

Collagen accounts for 30% of your body’s protein. “It provides structure, support, or strength to your skin, muscles, bones, and connective tissues. Why do we need collagen as we age? After menopause (or even before) our bodies produce less collagen as we age, and existing collagen breaks down at a faster rate. The collagen is also lower in quality than when we were younger. Women experience a significant reduction in collagen production after menopause. It’s normal for everyone to experience a decline in collagen production after age 60.

How can taking Collagen help us?  According to the Cleveland Clinic “Most of the studies are still new but show promise. The few such studies that have been done have found that collagen peptides are possibly effective for improving skin hydration and skin elasticity. It’s also possibly effective for relieving pain and improving joint function in people with knee osteoarthritis.

“Collagen can’t be absorbed by your body in its whole form. Your body breaks down the collagen proteins you eat into amino acids. So eating collagen-rich foods doesn’t directly result in higher collagen levels in your body.

Still, many foods that provide the raw ingredients that support collagen production can be eaten as part of a healthy diet. These foods contain the amino acids proline and glycine. Vitamin C, zinc and copper are also needed for the process. Foods that contain these amino acids, vitamins and minerals include:

  • Vitamin C. Vitamin C is found in oranges, strawberries, bell peppers, broccoli, Brussels sprouts and potatoes.
  • Proline. Proline is found in mushrooms, cabbage, asparagus, peanuts, wheat, fish, egg whites and meat.
  • Glycine. Glycine is found in red meats, turkey, chicken and pork skin, peanuts and granola.
  • Copper. Copper is found in liver, lobster, oysters, shiitake mushrooms, nuts and seeds, leafy greens, tofu and dark chocolate.
  • Zinc. Zinc is found in oysters, red meat, poultry, pork, beans, chickpeas, nuts, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, whole grains and milk products”.

So if you are taking a collagen supplement you will still need to eat a healthy diet rich in the above ingredients.

I can’t speak for others but I can walk for miles without any joint pain whatsoever.  My hair used to come out in handfuls in the shower.  I have none of that now.  My nails are like iron and my skin is much less dry.  Is this due to Collagen?  I don’t know, but I am not about to quit taking it to find out.

If you are considering collagen supplements, you should consult your doctor. Collagen supplements may interact poorly with certain medications, allergies, and underlying medical conditions. Thanks for reading Would you Like to Try Collagen for Her?  I am sure happy I did.

I have been taking Collagen For Her for about 7 months. I have tried others but this is so simple to use and I also put it in my coffee. I am a big supporter of women’s businesses.

    Hi, Cindy
Because the Collagen for Her is made from bovine collagen peptides, has anyone experienced
a raise in their bad cholesterol? I recently had a blood test and my bad cholesterol was very high.
I have never ever had that before. There are some posts on line that suggest that is a side effect of bovine
    collagen.
The only thing that changed before this blood test was I was taking Collagen for Her for about
4 months. Any feedback would be helpful. I thought the product was very good and helpful
with my hair, nails and skin.

      Hi Robert

I would always defer to your doctor. I have not seen any studies that indicate that but you could certainly switch to the marine collagen or the gummies.

My physician said to try collagen with biotin. It took over six months of using it before I was certain it was working. My nails looked like I bit them as they split and chipped constantly. Thanks for the recommendation.

Every time you write about this I get one step closer to trying it! I think I’ve held back because I’m not very Powder, but gummies are a different story! Thanks for continuing to mention this! 🙂

I started taking Collagen for Her after your post last summer. I didn’t tell anyone because I felt like I was following a social media fad. As I got older, I have been plagued with flaky, thin skin on my arms that got damaged easily (old lady arms is what I called it). Also my nails were soft and split easily. About 4 months after starting taking the collagen powder with my morning coffee, I began to notice positive results with stronger nails and the quality hair and skin has improved. Now that you mention it, I also have not had much knee pain and I walk 12,000 steps a day. I don’t know for sure if it is the collagen, but I just ordered more.

  6. Kate says

My message was because it appears your walkability was attributable to the collagen supplementation rather than the hip replacement surgeries. I understand osteoarthritis is the wearing away of cartilege in the joints whereas collagen supplementation improves bone health. I wish collagen improved cartilege but I understand this is not so.

      Hi Kate

I would never want anyone to think I am making false claims about the collagen supplement. I did not take collagen prior to my knee replacements and have only been taking it for a little over a year. My knee replacements were seven and five years ago. I certainly do not think it would have made a bit of difference I had been taking collagen prior to the replacements. I guess the point I was trying to make is that many people I know have stiffness, soreness etc after walking long distances. I do not have that. Is it due to the collagen? I do not know. I hope that clears up any misunderstanding.

Cindy – apologies for my confusion, I have arthritic pain all over and having used collagen with good results for skin and hair but no pain improvement. so, after having re-read your message today, I did more research and am very glad to say that there is some pain lessening possible with collagen II – that was not part of the collagen I had been taking, so will take a look at your offering. Again, sorry for having caused such confusion.

        • Cindy Hattersley says

          Hi Kate

I am sorry to hear about your arthritic pain. I hope you find something that will give you relief.

  7. Carol Rosenthal says

I just tried to order the Collagen and the code BLACKFRIDAY20 didn’t work. Can you help?
    Thank you!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Old Friend!

Hi Carol click on the link in my blog where it says “they are offering a website sale here” It worked for me! Let me know if that doesn’t work

Question about your message above – you mentioned being able to walk for miles without any pain – but no mention of the fact that you had both hips replaced! Please explain further.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kate

I am sorry that is why I linked to my two former posts. I have had both of my hips replaced. I believe the first one was in 2014 or 2015 and the second in 2017. I have mentioned them extensively over the years. They were both uncomplicated with quick recoveries. That is one of the main reasons I decided to take collagen in the first place. I would be happy to answer any other questions regarding the hip replacements. I am not sure what you were interested in.

Switched to Collagen for Her after your first featured post and a definite improvement! While doing morning yoga for years, I was adding cheaper collagen brands and got so-so results. Now on my third auto-ship from Amazon, my knee osteoarthritis pain and swelling are remarkably reduced. Not claiming a cure but long-term consistent use has proven to provide relief for me. Thanks for featuring this excellent product.
    Have a great Thanksgiving!!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Holly

I feel just like you….I used to have knee pain every once in awhile and I don’t have that. I have also nearly quit having hot flashes and wonder if it has anything to do with that?

      • holly says

Wouldn’t that be a nice dividend? Unfortunately, I still have hot flashes, caused by breast cancer medication though. Stage Zero, so I am a lucky one and counting my blessings.

  10. Sue says

I also began taking the supplement after reading your article, and have had similar results — nails noticeably stronger and hair thicker. I find the original supplement adds a nice creaminess to my morning coffee.

I tried the marine collagen, but it doesn’t dissolve as thoroughly. I’ve just begun trying the new gummies, and you’re right — they’re delicious.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Sue

I took a couple of the other supplements and the taste and consistency was awful. I feel exactly as you do. I actually enjoy it in my coffee.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Elizabeth

I think the hair issue is huge! And I know you were really suffering with that. Thank you for bringing that up.

  11. Anna Bifano says

Dear Cindy… I started using Collagen for Her after your first article. I have enjoyed the same results! I have it automatically delivered every sixty days. When I go on a trip, I simply put the right amount of scoops in a baggie – never miss a day of this wonderful supplement! Thank you for sharing this valuable product. Anna Bifano

  12. Deb Wostmann says

Thank you, Cindy. I started taking this after you wrote about it. I agree it’s the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t have any taste whatsoever. I too mix it in my coffee in the morning so it’s very easy to remember to add it. I do believe my nails are stronger and my hair is fuller. I was always a walker so not sure I’ve noticed any difference in my joints. I’ll keep taking it as I think the benefits are worth it.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Deb

I am so happy to hear it is working for you as well. Happpy Thanksgiving to you as well!
