Five Fun Finds this Week

Happy Sunday everyone.  It is a beautiful weekend here. I am spending my weekend gardening. This is the beginning of our dry season so our garden needs a little extra care and a lot of trimming to keep it presentable.  At any rate, let’s have a little fun.  Today Annie, Mary Ann, and I are sharing our Five Fun Finds this week. We hope this series brings a little sunshine on your Sunday.

#2 Something to Watch on Netflix & a Favorite Product

I have watched these two music-related specials on Netflix and have really enjoyed them, David Foster Off the Record, and Garth Brooks The Road I’m On.  What a kind, caring, talented man Garth Brooks is. I find it amazing he was able to take all those years off to spend time with his family and come back just as strong.  How many artists could do that?  David Foster is simply awe-inspiring. He has worked with the best of the best.  I never watched any of the housewives series so I did not have a skewed opinion of David Foster.

I keep forgetting to tell you guys about the clarifying shampoo that I am using. I have gray hair that tends to yellow so I primarily use blue/purple-hued shampoos and conditioners.  You can read about that in my post How to Keep Your Gray Hair Looking Great  However, I do need a good clarifying shampoo to remove residue and buildup.  I have tried several and find most to be a bit harsh.  This Moroccan Oil Shampoo is not at all.  My gray hair tends to be coarse and this shampoo makes my hair feel like silk. I have used the original Moroccan Oil for years to tame the frizz before styling or drying.  I don’t usually use two products in the same line but I am such a fan I ordered the Moisture Repair Conditioner and really like it as well.

I am anxious to hear if any of you have tried any of their other products? You can check out their website here.  Another bonus almost all of their products come in liters and they offer free shipping.

#3 Simple Grilled Shrimp and Scallop Kebabs

If you would like a super simple recipe that will keep you out of the kitchen in the heat you will enjoy my Simple Shrimp and Scallop Kebabs.  I forget how simple and delicious they are, especially this time of year.  All you need is a bag of TJ’s frozen shrimp and scallops, a couple of peppers, and a bunch of green onions and you are good to go.

#4 Read My Updated Popular post on Statement Chairs

One of my most popular posts Statement Chairs Where to Find them and How to Use Them was originally written in 2017.  Many of the pictures, information, and links were outdated.  When you have been blogging as long as I have there are a lot of posts out there that either need to go away or be updated.  They show up on Pinterest with terrible pictures and broken links. This one has been popular so I thought I would update itc.

I have updated my favorite Statement Chairs and added a budget-friendly group as well. You can find some great occasional chairs that are reasonable.  These are all under $500, many of them much less.  You can check them out here

    Cindy,
I used the Morrocan Oil for years but later found a Paul Mitchell oil that seems to work as well. I’ll have to try the conditioner and shampoo.
I loved the Garth Brooks music program. He’s truly amazing. I’ll try to see the other special.
Thanks for these 5 Favorites posts.
    xo,

    Hi Cindy,
Always a fun read, and I learn something every time. I watched that David Foster documentary a few weeks and thought it was interesting. Successful and arrogant. But I guess that goes with the territory! He sure doesn’t have trouble finding women to fall in love with him!
I love a good statement chair, my Eames lounge and ottoman are the only really good pieces of furniture in the house! But I equally love some of the old rickety chairs I’ve found at vintage stores!
Your hair looks so good! I don’t need grey hair advice, YET, but could use a shampoo/conditioner that makes my hair look and feel thicker. Probably should cut it but I’m not ready!
I hope you have a good week, it’s so dry and windy right now. Living in the woods I’m always a little scared this time of year.
    XO Heidi

I always look forward to your posts. I love that they encompass so many subjects, from easy dinners to gardens to Summer! Your life seems more interesting than mine here in Texas. My granddaughters are relocating – two back to DFW and one to Chicago to attend law school at Loyola. She rented a brownstone next to a bakery! Good thing that is not me! That would be another 15 Covid pounds!
    Take care and stay healthy.

What a fun read! Loved everything, especially the assortment of to die for chairs. Looking forward to trying your grilled seafood kebabs and can’t wait to see the results of your (and Summer’s) photo shoot😍

All five of your finds are great and I can’t wait to make the shrimp and scallop kebabs. You, Mary Ann and Annie are a perfect team and I always love when you share blog subjects and great ideas. Thanks Cindy.

Love all your posts Cindy. Thank you!!
As for shampoos and conditioners, I’ve been using Mason 276 for six months and love it for my curly gray hair. My hair has become much more manageable and softer. I recommend it for those with dry curly gray hair. https://maison276.com/

Thanks so much for sharing Deb. We gray-haired ladies need all the tips we can get to combat the frizz!!

I didn’t get the memo about wing chairs going out of style! Love them. They seem to work well with me being short and my husband being tall. Have always loved the addition of wicker to rooms to add texture and helps to “unstuffify” (not a word? now it is!) a room. We have chairs we inherited from my husband’s parents, his grandparents and great uncle (wicker similar to yours!). Since our family is now gone, I see their chairs like chess pieces that remind me of them. Yes. I’m crazy that way! I use Morocan oil. Have for years. My hair is white not gray and I don’t have to use anything to keep it that way. I think it’s because when red pigment goes, it’s really, really gone!!!! Enjoy your Sunday.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Hi Linda I have a feeling all of their products are good. I don’t normally use multiple products from the same line but I am amazed at that shampoo.

Your shrimp and scallops kebab recipe sounds like a winner. We are well and truly in the worst weeks of summer right now. It’s terribly hot and I’ve been dreaming of rain. That path lined with hydrangeas is absolutely gorgeous. It’s always fun to read these posts about your favourite finds.

A client of mine referenced your statement chair post…what a good one! I am heading over there right after I comment. Love your kebob recipe idea too…pinned it.
    Have a great Sunday!
