Are You Taking Collagen? Now is a Good Time to Try It

Hi Everyone. I promised to get back to you after taking collagen consistently for an extended period of time. I am happy to be partnering once again with Collagen for Her. have been taking Collagen for Her for over nine months now. You can read about why I chose Collagen for Her in my original post Are You Taking Collagen, if not Here’s why you Should.“Collagen is the major component of connective tissues that comprise several body parts, including tendons, ligaments, skin, and muscles. Collagen has many important functions, including providing your skin with structure and strengthening your joints and bones” As we get older our bodies no longer produce enough collagen. I experimented with the different kinds and finally landed on the Collagen for Her Unflavored Collagen Peptides Powder – Hydrolyzed Collagen Protein Supplement I add it to my coffee every morning. It has absolutely no flavor (some of the complaints of other brands) and dissolves easily with a spoon. I used to use a bit of milk or half and half in my coffee and now I just add the collagen. It adds enough creaminess for me. I have also mixed it in smoothies if you don’t drink coffee or tea. It dissolves more easily in hot liquids but it dissolves well in the blender.

All of the research supporting collagen success is still in the early stages. Experts agree there is no harm in taking it. You might also enjoy this post Do Collagen Supplements Work? My nails are definitely stronger, I notice very little if any hair falling out in the shower. Is my skin free of wrinkles, no? I do not seem to have the dry patches that I once had from my Retin A. I plan to continue to take collagen and hope that the preliminary studies are correct, so I can keep up with my granddaughter. So far, so good.

    Hi Cindy:

I decided to take the Collagen For Her Multi Collagen capsules when you first posted a few months back. I started noticing a difference within a couple of months and now am up to the recommended 3 caps per day. I am noticing a difference in stamina as well as strength in my fingernails. I combined with CND RescueRxx daily Keritan treatment on my nails and no longer experience splitting, pealing, breakage or hangnails. The nails do require time to completely grow out from all the damage but will never stop using this combo. Thank you for recommending. I am also enjoying every one of your posts as our style is very similar. I even splurged and bought a Kaminski Classic 5 hat which I simply love.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Katelyn

You know it is funny…several people have mentioned the stamina thing. I never really thought about it but I have noticed that too. I just didn’t think of the relationship. I also have almost no hot flashes anymore, so I am sleeping better. I am beginning to wonder if there is a connection there as well. Aren’t the Helen Kaminski hats the best? I had a good friend who gave me two of hers at least 15 years ago. I still wear them. I am a believer. I am not afraid to buy a straw hat at Target either if I want one that I don’t care if I lose or ruin! Thank you so much for your support. I feel so grateful for this community of wonderful inspiring women we have here.

i’m happy to try another brand. just placed an order! i started with the andrew lessman brand. used for a couple of years. honestly, didn’t feel or see any improvement in hair and nails, etc. moved on to a brand i don’t remember. just one order. more expensive. then to vital protiens brand. i think i’m using that now. (i move to a cannister so i’m not sure. next will be collagen for her. i just figure that if i wasn’t taking it, all my hair would fall out and my nails would be a horror. i will continue to believe that it makes a difference.
actually, i do see it in my skin. no crepe and holding off the wrinkles and sags. that’s a win for 74, heh?
thanks for bringing this brand to my attention:)

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Bonnie

I have heard it does not work for everyone. It’s funny I never take any medication unless I have an infection which is rare. If I am ever prescribed an antihistimine it does not work period. Your comment makes me laugh. I feel the same way. I am afraid not to take it!

  4. Karen B. says

    HI Cindy,
I am taking a brand that Costco sells and I like it. It’s only been since your initial post. I don’t care for the powder but the liquid I’m using is palatable and I don’t mind the taste. Thanks for introducing this to us.
    Karen B.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Karen

Do you think it is helping? Costco usually has good products. If they don’t they get rid of them!

My doctor and dermatologist said collegen works for some and not for others. They also both said to take for 6 months before I decide if it is helpful. At my third month. At 72, my main issue is thin nails. What a thing to worry about, ha.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Judy

That is what I have heard. I guess it is so with practically anything. Nails are such an issue. My nails were a total wreck after my surgery I believe from the stress. They came back like iron!

  6. Brenda says

I have been taking collagen for years.
I have noticed it’s a hot item now and the price has gone through the roof!
The amount of different product of collagen is growing, be sure to read label before trying to get a bargain
It works that’s the great part!.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Brenda

Absolutely, a good comment about reading the label. We need to research all products before taking. I am glad to hear you are happy with it.

  7. Mary from Life at Bella Terra says

Cindy, I’ve been taking vital proteins for about four years. My joints don’t make noise anymore, my hairdresser thinks my hair is getting fuller, and my eyesight has significantly improved. I take it my coffee in the morning before I do a work out so I get my 20 g of protein. A previous comment thought it was made with pea collagen but it’s actually bovine. 20 g of protein for with 2 scoops. I once tried a fish-based collagen peptide and didn’t like it as well. I’ve not tried collagen for her. For me it’s not only getting the collagen but also getting a good dose of protein before I exercise. Great post thanks for sharing!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Mary

Oh gosh I hope it helps my eyesight! I could use that too! Yes it is bovine collagen. They also have a marine collagen for those that don’t want to take a bovine product. Good point about the protein as well!

    Cindy,
I have placed my order! Thanks for bring the tester of products. You haven’t steered me wrong thus far. Personal recommendations are extremely helpful.
Continue to enjoy your beautiful new home.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Marilyn

I don’t do very many sponsored posts because I only support products I believe in and would use or take myself. I think this product is a good one.

  9. Sarah says

Is there any reason a man shouldn’t use Collagen for Her? Maybe a silly question, but I’d like to try a product both my husband and I can use.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Sarah

I don’t believe so. I am going to ask Casey about it. I want my husband to take it as well. He has a really bad ankle that causes him a lot of problems.

  10. Marsha Elizabeth Williams says

    Hi Cindy!
Love your posts. I do take Collagen every day and agree that women over a certain age should take it
On another matter – love your style. I love the gray top and leggings you are wearing. Would you mind telling me more about this outfit?
    Thanks, Marsha

  11. Carol Matthews says

Does anyone know if it goes by a different brand or name in Canada? I can’t find it anywhere, even in Amazon.ca
    Thanks for any help.

  12. holly says

Thanks for the update! I have been all over the place with collagen brands but based on your review, I am switching to Collagen for Her with a subscription. Enjoy your day!!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Holly

I really like this brand. I am very careful about the brands I work with. I get asked all of the time. I don’t work with anyone that I wouldn’t recommend or use myself. I took it for three months before I posted. They were very kind to let me do that.

  13. Dianne says

I have been taken collagen for the past couple of years. I take Vial Protein. Can you tell me if anyone has tried Vital and then tried Collagen for her and if there was a difference?

    • Jean ann says

I tried both. Vital protein was based primarily on pea protein if I remember. It was ok but I didn’t stick with it. The one Cindy recommended is working for me. I got it the day her initial post came out about it. I’ve noticed stronger nails. Haven’t noticed thicker hair (darn it). And I have no idea if this is connected, but I’ve been able to cut back on my sweets habit. So I’m in.

      • Cindy Hattersley says

        Hi Jean

That is hilarious about your sweet habit! Wouldn’t it be funny if we all find out it is the miracle supplement for women over 60!!

      • Cindy Hattersley says

        Hi Nan

They have capsules as well, as I explained in my original post. I find the powder the easiest for me. That way I don’t have another pill to take!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Dianne

Hopefully, someone else will chime in. I would check the ingredients. If the list is the same, you probably are good to go. The thing I like about Collagen for her is it is tasteless. I am not good about taking supplements, and adding it to my one cup of coffee every morning with no aftertaste is a win win for me!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Elizabeth

That is great to hear, now if we can get the other health issues solved!!

  14. Estee says

I am glad you did this post. Women need to know about collagen. I just started taking it about a month ago and for me the difference is in energy. I feel much more energetic; it is possible that my hair is thicker, but that could be the vitamins. I have been recommending it to all my friends. Thank you as always for a great blog.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Estee

It is really interesting this energy thing. As I said above I never thought about it, or the relation. I too am staying up later, and my hot flashes are nearly gone. Has anyone else had that happen? Thank you so much for reading and commenting. It’s the comments that make the blog!!

  15. Lurania says

I have been using Collagen For Her, [the Pink container). Do you take both? If not why did you choose the Pink one? I have found this brand does not have an after taste like it’s competitor which is a plus for me. There has been a difference in my nails and skin as well. I definitely will continue to use this product.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lurania

I agree about the aftertaste. That is why I like Collagen for Her as well.

  16. Francesca B says

Hi Cindy, I have been taking collagen for about a year and a half and l think it is doing me a world of good. I take another brand and l generally add it to my tea and add it to my protein quota for the day as l like to track my diet as l am trying to lose weight. But after a hip operation and after years of yoga l did not want to feel muscle ache or have problems with osteoporosis and so far all is well. My nails are stronger ! Happy day all.

  17. Carol S., says

Hi Cindy, can you share that link again I couldn’t click on it. I’m on my second tub of collegen after probably a month. My nails are definitely stronger. Working on keeping these old knees moving! Thank you.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Carol
I don’t know why the one link wasn’t working. It worked for me. Sometimes they are fickle!
