Over 50 Fashion-What I Packed for a Three Day Conference

Hi Everyone. Mary Ann, Annie, Kim and I just returned from the Design Influencers Conference in San Francisco.  We thought it would be fun to share what we packed for the Conference.  Keep in mind this was a conference for Creatives so my attire probably would not be very well suited to a normal business conference. That is part of what I love about my job.  Here is my over 50 Fashion-What I packed for a Three Day Conference.

Over 50 Fashion-What I Packed for a Three Day Conference

The conference was held at the beautiful, conveniently located Hyatt on Union Square, during one of the breaks we strolled down to Crate and Barrel to check out some of their new lines.  Here I am wearing an old Eileen Fisher Trench as a Jacket with leggings and the Birdies Starlings (which are super comfortable). I am wearing the velvet, but this time of year the leather would be more suitable.  I am channeling the Antique Goddess here.  This jacket is lightweight and packable and can be worn as an overcoat in the evenings. I am wearing it with my favorite turtleneck from Peruvian Connection.  This turtleneck keeps its shape and is longer which I like. All items are linked and shoppable below.

SHOP THE LOOK

I am crazy about my Artemis Design Co Kilim slippers.  They are all one of a kind.  You can buy them on their website here or at Madwell linked below.  I am wearing another older Eileen Fisher linen jacket, an old J Crew Chambray shirt, and Madewell Jeans.  I am wearing a Don Lucas pin that I have had for over 30 years, Navajo earrings (similar linked below) and a collection of Navajo bangles that I have collected over the years.

SHOP THE LOOK

Here I am with my pal Annie on the streets of San Francisco.  I am wearing the Planet Artists Smock (that you have seen many times before) from Artful Home. It is pricey so I have linked a similar one below.  My necklace is a Don Lucas piece I inherited from Steve’s mother.I actually found a couple on Ebay that I linked below.  I am wearing the Lyssee leggings and my favorite Artemis Co “Slippers”.  The tote is ancient but I have linked similar ones below.

SHOP THE LOOK

The beauty of a conference like this is I am able to wear my usual “collected look”.  Many of my clothes I have purchased on eBay, Poshmark, or Etsy.  I will do a post soon on how to shop these spots.

Bloggers Cindy Hattersley, Kim Wheeler , Mary Ann Pickett and Annie Diamond

Now pop over to Classic Casual Home, Most Lovely Things and Northern California Style to see what they packed. It is fun to see how each of our conference wardrobes reflected our own styles. The four of us had a blast at the conference.  We all feel so lucky to have found each other through blogging and get together whenever we can find an excuse!

    Hi, Cindy,
It looks like you all had great fun together!

I love your style and am always interested to see new posts. I found an online offering for the red Eileen Fisher jacket. Is it truly red or is it more coral? It’s difficult to tell on my monitor and I need a true red. Thank you.

      Hi Nancy
It is not quite as bright as it is in a couple of the pictures but it is definitely a true red. It is not coral. Enjoy!!

      Hi Kim

I am so glad the “cool kid” lets me hang out with her! I honestly thought you were my daughter’s age when I first met you! Such fun in SF let’s meet in SC soon!!!

Such great style. You really know how to put unlikely pieces together and make them look so chic. Wish I had your height and slender shape. Love seeing all of your posts on clothes and health. Have really liked “Angie, Hot and Flashy”. Thanks for your great blog.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Carmalee

Angie from Hot and Flashy is great isn’t she? I like her unbiased opinions and respect her recommendations even more now that I know her father is a chemist. I wish I were taller as well. I am only 5’4. I think I only look tall when I am with Mary Ann! I had a weight problem my entire life. Only in my early fifties did I get it under control. I love to eat. I just fall back on weight watchers when I get into trouble (which is often). I don’t care for sweets but I do love pasta, pizza, potatoes and bread!!

  4. Sandra Sallin - Apart From My ARt says

Love your style. You look just right. Stylish yet comfortable and not over the top. I think that’s the way you decorate also. Great looks. I do love that white top. I have it also. It’s a winner. i love the way you styled it. Keep on dressing!

So enjoyed reading all about the conference and seeing the photos you four ladies shared with all your lucky followers. All talented, creative and individual! Cindy, your collected look translates to your wardrobe as well and it’s always a treat to see your creations in interior and garden design, as well as your amazing ability to put together a look that is one of a kind! Happy is how I would describe myself finding your blog in my email😁😁😁

I thought of you Patricia as I was penning the post. I knew you would be crazy over the shoes unless you had already discoverd them! Great minds…

  8. Lorna says

Some tips about shopping on eBay would be great. It’s so confusing when you’re not sure whether something is real or fake.
I love your clothes too and anything Navajo always makes me perk my ears. I adore Native American jewellery and have a few pieces.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lorna
I promise I will do it in the next few weeks! My family is going to get a huge kick out of that post. I used to have an alarm that would go off (years ago) to tell me when something was ending. That is not important anymore but I will enjoy sharing what little wisdom I have with you in a post. Thanks for always being so supportive and commenting!

YES!! to all now that you are feeling better…time to make an excursion down here! You are so creative with your accessories. I always study what you do. Granted I could not wear the layers you do due to my size but I appreciate it nonetheless!

Cindy! I love how your style is reflective of your home and lifestyle! Those Artemis slip-on shoes are so perfect for your style. I had no idea you can find them at Madewell. One-of-a-kind…just like you! Iove how you are wearing a vintage necklace with your long white shirt and the shoes just make it all so interesting! I love your style for fashion and home!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Thanks Annie!! You are so on brand too! You are totally confident of your style and follow through with everything you do! I study your vision! We are so lucky to have found each other through blogging!

    Hi Kris
Thanks for the heads up. That is why I am always reluctant to link to Zulilly. They have great prices but the items disappear quickly. It was there this a.m. The shirt I am wearing is the Artists Smock from Artful Home. It is pricey but in my mind worth the money when you consider the numerous times I have worn it. I did link several other white shirts that are at a better price point. Good Luck and thanks for reading and commenting!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

It is a lovely necklace. Keep your eye out on Ebay. They turn up on occassion! Thanks for reading and commenting!!

Cindy, you KNOW you are my style idol! You really show your creative style with the collected look.
Didn’t it feel good to be one of the more knowledgeable ones at the conference? It went by too quickly!

  13. Joanna says

You have such a flair! I’m afraid I err on the safe side when dressing. I do love the Artist Smock shirt. I hesitate to order because some of the reviews mention the material, as not being what they expect from a quality, high price point shirt. Thoughts?

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Joanna
I can’t imagine how anyone could think the fabric of the Artist Smock is not good quality. It is the only white shirt I own that looks and feels great after having owned it for over 3 years. I wore this same shirt to this same conference two years ago, and numerous times since. I understand the hesitation with the price point but it is worth every penny in my book.

  14. Elizabeth says

I love your style, it is sophisticated, comfortable and beautiful. I would love to learn more about the conference, what did you lear(if you can share), etc.
