New Year New Slate.. Black & White Love

I don’t know why but it seems when the New Year approaches I am in the mood for a black and white post. Together these two colors make a bold statement, yet they work well in both classic and modern interiors. So let’s ring in the New Year right with some classic black and white. This gorgeous hall blends both beautifully. How about replacing that dated travertine with some graphic black and white tile?http://www.homedit.com/checkerboard-flooring-timeless-beauty-for-any-room-of-the-house/:

This fabulous den by Sean Anderson adds just the right amount warmth and drama. Doesn’t it just make you want to snuggle up? Don’t you love the clever styling on the console?

The downstairs den in Sean Anderson's home demonstrates his talent for mixing classic and contemporary to achieve unconventional charm.

Love this unbelievable makeover Shari Hart did for the One Room Challenge.  Here is an example of how going easy on the black (ie the stripes and the small frames) creates a crisp clean look without all the drama.

The new/old  Pearls Hotel in San Antonio posted by Joni on Cote de Texas just oozes with black and white charm.

The graphic impact of the black and white scheme and the gorgeous art in this Bridgehampton living room of designer James Huniford makes a bold statement.

Great wall decoration:

I love this room by Tami and Krista of Cloth & Kind for the Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles Serenbe Designer Showhouse. The black and white combination makes it appear effortlessly elegant.

Krista Nye Schwartz and Tami Ramsay began by selecting a graphic linen fabric by L’Aviva Home for an accent wall. The pattern was designed by women from the tribal villages of Hazaribagh, India, who create the striking motifs as part of a matrimonial ritual.:

Want to just try a little black and white rather than go for the whole hog?  Love this piece from Horchow and the wow factor it adds!

These images are so pretty Cindy – love it! Funnily enough, I used to subscribe to the design theory that "every room needs a touch of black" and I did have it in every room. And then I got rid of it! Last year in my effort to go lighter, brighter and pared down, the black felt heavy and I took it out! But now these photos make me want to put it back in..lol. So gorgeous – and I love it in your house, especially the kitchen tile and the bathroom. Lovely!

Yes Cindy black and white is a statement like none other…
I use to have pieces in my home, well in my last home much larger home that could handle all my black accents. I have had heavy on my mind wanting to add black into my home, starting with an area rug of black, cream, and grey's to then add accent pillows with black and white and then some framed art. Who knows where from there?

Your home has always been one of my favorites starting with the terra cotta pavers, (floor) to your iron work, the changing colour of your cabinets, the altering of sofas in white and the accents of black. You my dear have hit it out of the park for me, and inspire me to rethink some black again.

    Keep inspiring your beauty.
