My niece Erin is expecting a baby boy in September. She and her husband Paul are world travelers. They love to hike, camp, backpack, and travel the world (boy is their life going to change!!). My daughter Jenna, my niece Laura and I threw a shower for Erin last weekend. Jenna came up with the theme “The Adventure Begins”. Here’s How to Throw a Baby Shower for a Travel-Loving Couple.
I draped a long fold-up table with a burlap table skirt and topped it with the toppers I used for Jenna’s baby shower. You can read about that in this post Girl Baby Shower You can Copy.
I purchased alstromeria, mini daisies, veronica and sunflowers from Trader Joe’s I added, greens black eyed Susan’s and butterfly bush from Jenna’s yard for the flower arrangements.
We served a french sparkling that was (not cheap) in a beautiful blue bottle that tasted like cough syrup. Thankfully we also served rose, sauvignon blanc, and sparkling waters.
My niece Laura prepared a beautiful tapas tray for the appetizer. I am pretty sure she used prepared tapenade, tzatziki, etc. for simplicity. Note the little girls added the just picked giant tomatoes to the platter.
We served three salads for lunch. Ina Garten’s Grilled Vegetable Orzo Salad. I added some grilled Argentinian shrimp from Trader Joe’s.
My sister-in-law made a variation of the Gimme Some Oven’s Favorite Apple Salad, and I made Gimme Some Oven’s White Bean and Edamame Salad (a new family favorite)
We served airstream cookies and trees, and mini carrot cake cupcakes for dessert.
The darling hostesses my niece Laura and daughter Jenna (Summer’s mom)
The guest of honor my niece Erin and the ladies from our family (sans Summer and Shay who were in the pool).
The littlest guests, are my great niece Shay, Summer, and Paige.
The guest of honor and her friends.
We played two games. In one game the guests were asked to guess Erin and Paul’s ages at various stages of life. In the other game Erin and Paul were asked questions about future baby. FYI their answers were very similar! I did the graphic on Canva and Laura had it printed.
I think a good time was had by all. It was over 100 that day. When I left for my long drive home, all of the young girls were in the pool enjoying themselves.
Everyone took home a small Lamarca as a token of the day.
SHOP TRAVEL-LOVING BABY SHOWER
Thank you so much to Jenna for hosting the shower after her whole family just recovered from Covid and to Laura for all her help as well. Thank you so much for reading How to Throw a Baby Shower for a Trave- Loving Couple. I hope if you are planning a shower in the future, it might have given you a few ideas. I will be back on Thursday with Jennifer for our Over 50 Style Edit. We will be talking about how to wear black and white in the Summer.
What a darling shower! The theme was perfect for the couple and was carried out beautifully!
Hi Kathy
Thank you so much!
Another amazing baby shower, Cindy! I adore the travel theme with the fun cookies, cupcakes and wine labels. Speaking of the wine, what a disappointment with the champagne. Good thing you had back up. Looks like my family has another baby on the way so I’m making notes and Pinning madly!!! xo
Beautiful party! What a fun theme and delicious food! Got to try each recipe soon!
Cindy, this show is so sweet. I love the little cookies and the salads, Gimme Some Oven is a great resource. Have a wonderful week Cindy! Thank you for sharing!
That was fun to read! You are the most creative person I know when it comes to entertaining.
What a fun and delicious-looking celebration. Love the games, too!
Cindy,
You and friends/family give the best showers. I still remember some of the events you hosted when your daughter got married. I like that you keep things simple but beautiful. Everything here looks so sweet.

What a beautiful day for the beautiful mom to be. The flowers were so fun and cheery. I loved the bean salad. And it was great for leftovers too.
What a fun theme! Love the cookies and cupcakes and the food all looks so delicious! At 100º there’s nothing better than a dip in the pool at the end of the party! Looks like so much fun!
What a wonderful party Cindy – you and your daughter and neice do it up right! Such a cute theme! Thanks for the great ideas. You always inspire me!
