METALLIC SEPARATES FROM ZARA

August is a tricky time for clothing. It is still hot, and most of us aren’t buying anything new until Fall. I think Zara has some fun metallic separates you could add to your wardrobe without breaking the bank. I am anxious to hear if you think they are as much fun as I do.

What’s more mood lifting than a metallic tee,? You could wear it alone with the metallic jeans, or under the long sleeve metallic top. The metallic statement necklace caught my eye, as well as the metallic bag that can be worn as a shoulder bag or a cross body. The metallic sneaks look like fun as well.

FRIED GREEN TOMATO BLT

I am sure many of you have an over abundance of tomatoes right now. Do you have an air fryer? If so do you like it? I am thinking about getting this one. I had a great fried green tomato blt at our brother-in-law’s golf club. This recipe from Haute and Heirloom is very similar.

Hi Cindy. An air fryer? How about 2 of them. One for the house and one for the kitchen in our home. I use the air fryer at least 5 times a week. We bought the Ninja air fryer with the single basket with a pull out handle. So easy to warm up left overs, or roast zucchini or bake potatoes without heating up the entire kitchen. The Ninja for the RV is one that also grills. Love them both. Easy clean is my favorite. Get one, you won’t regret it.

    Hi Cindy,
I love the metillac log sleeve top and tee. I looked on Zara web page and they have several piesces can you tell me which one you posted?

Love the Natasha Howard photos.I am so drawn to English decoration, with its warmth and rich, personal layers, so inviting! And the silver palette, wonderful! Reminders to stay strong and healthy never come amiss, but I am with Juliette, a little cake here and there is also essential😄

Hi Cindy, We bought the Cuisinart air fryer, but were very disappointed with it. It only lasted about a year and started having major problems. Just our experience, and maybe we got a lemon? We now have the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer Pro which was recommended by a neighbor (and commented on above) and it is fabulous! It cost a little more and is a little larger than the Cuisinart, but so worth it to us. My husband is the cook, and he uses it at least once a day, and sometimes more!

    Cindy,
I found the article on losing muscle interesting. I’ve been diligent about walking almost 5 miles daily and have done stretching, but I’m not good about using weights. I may work on that area of my exercise routine.
This is such a challenging time for me to select fall/winter clothing. It’s too hot to imagine ever needing some warmth in their wardrobe. Haha.

    Cindy,
Love the superfoods and the article on loosing muscle as we age. IT is so important to take care of yourself as you age, especially by continuing to exercise and use weights.
The silver outfit ideas are beautiful. I am sure that you look fabulous!
We have a Phillips Airfryer, https://rstyle.me/+cnQm8oHgY14tnQq8BdcStQ we have had it 4 years at least and love it! In fact I would say we use it most every day, especially for vegetables.
    Have a great week Cindy!

Cindy! Last week I put a metallic sweater into the donate pile … now I need to fish it out. Natasha’s mustard color kitchen cabinets are fabulous. And her bar area. Swoon! Following immediately. Ok, I’m off to figure out how to avoid (more) muscle loss and which super foods I need to start eating. I just had the best slice of carrot cake. I hope carrots are on the list! 😉 xo

Would definitely try one of the metallics – probably the T.
Would never buy a fryer – haven’t even got a microwave. Just more stuff with which to clutter a kitchen. I’m a simple, old-fashioned gal.
Enjoyed the snippet on superfoods but fresh from the veggie garden and daily blueberries are my go-to.
And finally – my dog (I’ve had a canine pal in every phase of life). Two walks a day with an energetic terrier – he’s 12 and I’m 72 and we’re not slowing down. And classical ballet class (2 hours weekly).

Please let me know the fragrance by jo Malone that you wear, I must reorder,
    Thank you

I eat all the superfoods except hemp seeds. I haven’t tried them yet. I used tempeh last night to make plant based Ruben sandwiches and had leftovers for lunch today. I use nutritional yeast to make “cheesy” sauces that we use on all our veggies and using it with almond flour, 1/2 and 1/2 for Parmesan cheese for spaghetti. Chuck aka “Brand New Vegan” has that toaster oven/air fryer and uses it all the time. He seems to like it a lot. I have the Breville Smart Oven Air. I think the smaller air fryers are supposed to make the food crispier, but I enjoy using my Breville for making large batches of French fries.

I love Ms. Howard’s style, but I would really love to know whether she uses those copper pots! I have Reverware pots, and I’d never show anyone what the copper bottoms look like. I’m not a fan of shiny except in jewelry. But great outfit if you go to nightclubs.

  12. Mary from Life at Bella Terra says

Cindy, I, too, found the link to the 5 nutritional foods to not be working, however, I googled it separately. Interesting as there is much debate on soy and I’ve eliminated it from my diet. But it’s always good to see what the latest is on nutrition. Working out faithfully 5-7 days per week so hoping I remain healthy and active and then just drop dead. Ha! I bet the silver looks great on you….I’m not much of a metallic person but do have a wrap that’s gold-ish and fun. Love all your Sunday suggestions. Have a great week.

Good morning! I Love Natasha Howards IG account. A great romantic rabbit hole to go down this Sunday morning. Will have to try some of those superfoods, especially the nutritional yeast as I have it in the pantry (just can’t remember what I bought it for! LoL) Recently added Leslie Cima’s Arm & Shoulder exercises. Weights for that old “arm thing” going on. When did that happen? Have a lovely Sunday and week ahead. xoxo-hb

I just recently and hesitantly purchased a Cosori 5 quart air fryer. I’m not one for lots of kitchen cooking gadgets, but I am so happy that I made this purchase. We have used it almost every night and you can cook anything in it! It is a heat saver on these hot summer nights when you don’t dare turn your oven on.
It does have non stick teflon inside the basket, which makes for effortless clean up, unlike the non coated metal styles.
Hope you enjoy your selected air fryer…It’s a game changer!

      Hi Nancy

I am not a kitchen gadget person either. Thank you for your recommendation. I will check it out right now!

I love the metallic look in clothing! I’ve always like shiny. That sandwich looks amazing. I hope you had a nice visit with Steve’s brother….I miss you already~

      Hi Karen

We had a really nice time in Lexington and Knoxville. So fun to catch up with all of you!

  16. LYN says

I was very active – going to gym 2-3 days a week and walking 4 miles several times a week with my husband either outdoors or in a mall in the winter (even though I’m not in love with shopping). Since the pandemic, I stopped the gym, but we took care of grandchildren’s home schooling and housework in our daughter’s home. It keeps us moving! My husband is older and the only one in our neighborhood that doesn’t use a riding mower, and in the summer he gets enough exercise mowing a big yard. In the fall and even in the winter he walks 5-6 miles a day! I must say he is the fittest person in the neighborhood. The neighbors range in age from the early 30’s to 65 – my husband is 78 – they are all out of shape. I think we can all help ourselves age gracefully by simply moving. I have a sister-in-law who is 10 years younger than me and has several chronic health conditions. I was just speaking to her this morning and asked her if she would considered doing some walking with me. She said absolutely. I told her we would start with a short distance. It will be nice to get out and enjoy each other’s company. I suggest anyone that is thinking of becoming more active to ask someone to start a walking regime. After completing your walk you can go out to a local coffee shop!!! You owe it to yourself and the people who you love.

    • Lisa says

Having a dog is such a great way to incorporate increased walking — plus the companionship is a mood-booster too.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lyn

We have a friend who is also 80 who began working out at maybe 75? His doctor says he is the only person he knows that is more fit now than he was 10 years ago. We are never too old!

  17. Lori H says

The link to the Silver Sneakers isn’t working but I googled it. What a great resource. Not into the fabric the metallics are made from but that would look so good on those with the silver/very blonde haired gals especially I thought.
Air fryers..now please do a review on those as I too would like to purchase one but which one? I want easy to use, easy to store and be good for 2 adults so not huge in size.

    • Elizabeth@pineconesandacorns says

Lori, I noticed your comment on Airfryers. My husband and I have this Phillips, in fact we have had it over 4 years and use it almost daily. Although we use it for chicken a lot I mainly use it for vegetables, sweet potatoes, etc. https://rstyle.me/+cnQm8oHgY14tnQq8BdcStQ
It is a good size for 2 people, easy to use and to clean.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lori

I will inestigate! Agree with all your suggestions. I hate too many gadgets and don’t want them on the counter!! That is the reason this one appealed to me. Good reviews and you can toast in it as well!

  18. Deanna says

Is the link working for the Silver Sneakers article on SuperFoods? Maybe just my computer? I’m able to access the others. Thank you for your time and talent evident on your blog. Have a great week!
