Guide for Black Friday Sales and Gift Guides

I hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving.  It certainly was a much quieter one for us.  We missed all of our extended family but are looking forward to next year when we can all be together again.  We had wonderful food, good times, and made an attempt at a Griswold family picture.  It’s tough when you have (two) two-year-olds, two photobombing dogs, and adults who hate getting photographed! Today I am sharing my guide to all the Black Friday Sales and Gift Guides for the man and  Gardener in your life.

This year I coerced my kids into doing gift guides.  My daughter in law Lauren Is an amazing cook so she listed her favorite kitchen tools here.  My daughter, husband, and Little Summer are here this week so it is their turn.

GIFT GUIDE FOR HIM

My son in law Darius is also a great cook and wine lover (his father was a chef).  Here are his favorites that are either on his list or he already has.

Darius is 6’8 and he loves these chinos by Bonobos.  He has one of these organizers in his SUV so his propane tanks don’t roll all over the car (great for groceries too).  Our son and Darius love the Sonos Move speaker that can be moved about on a whim. You have heard me brag about the Ooni pizza oven before.  My son bought one for my husband.  The perforated paddles are a necessity as well. Darius says these WS ice chillers are great for cocktails.  We all love this white wine chiller (we all have one). I think both my husband and D need this knife sharpener, and Darius loves this simple wallet. All items are linked below.

GIFT GUIDE FOR THE GARDENER

I did a post on my favorite garden tools here that I updated for this post.  Many of these items are on Black Friday special. Most of these items are not very sexy but useful!

Left to right every gardener needs a great pair of loppers, a holster for their pruners, a great tool belt, and an extendable tree branch lopper. Finally, garden tape that isn’t fluorescent green, rose pruning gloves,  everyday felco pruners, and an SPF 50 sun hat with a chin strap. These plant markers are invaluable (in case you forget which rose you planted or the tag falls off).  Love this countertop compost bin (also comes in off white), my favorite gardening gloves (on special), and a compost bin.  I have had one of these for years.

The garden lopper is on a Cyber Monday sale today!
The Chef’s Choice knife sharpener can ruin good knives. Don’t use it for Global or Japanese knives.

Here in mild but sunny Florida,we also have probably the same restrictions you have. Got the 8yr.old granddaughter a beginner needlepoint kit of a unicorn(her fav at the moment) to keep her busy! That worked. Then our daughter and family who live in Chicago visited on Alexa! Knew we are in for it,when one 6 yrs old asked her girl cousin-“What is your password for your I-pad!” (Shades of things to come! These home schooled kids will be something else!) But it was wonderful being with all and that is the greatest blessing we could have right now. To be here! Stay safe in all ways and keep on blogging. really enjoy what I read from you!

    Cindy,
What a fun photo. It looks like everyone was having a good time. Is it your son that owns the wine bar?
I appreciate the gift guide. I’m working on my list for family and I always find some inspiration from these posts.

I think you all look fantastic. Grandma on her rocker on top of the car must have taken the picture. Question about the knife sharpener. I bought this several years ago and have been too scared to screw up my Shun knives with it. Should I worry?
Glad you had a great T-day and as always, Summer, is a delight.

A priceless family photo!! You’ll cherish that one for a long time! Many great gift ideas as well, especially the garden ones for ME!

  7. Joan McMullen says

Yesterday I made your D-in law’s recipe for cranberry chutney that you published a few weeks ago. Also took some to our friends’ for early dessert on their patio, with masks.
    It was fabulous. Thank you.
