Happy Sunday everyone! We have had uncommonly cool weather so far this holiday weekend. We are enjoying Summer and our family in spite of the chilly weather. Today I am joining Annie and Mary Ann for our Sunday favorites. Let’s talk about Five Fun Distractions you don’t Want to Miss
SONOMA WINERIES WITH BEAUTIFUL GARDENS
Now that we have moved further south, we don’t travel to the Sonoma wine country very often. We love the area. It’s very laid back much like this area. There are so many fabulous wineries in beautiful settings. I enjoyed this recent article in Sonoma Magazine featuring 15 Great Wineries with Beautiful Gardens.

DARIUS’ NO FAIL FAVORITE WEEKNIGHT PASTA FROM FOOD AND WINE
My son-in-law Darius is a fabulous cook (as is my daughter). This simple Food and Wine Recipe for Pasta with Sausage Basil and Mustard is their week night go to recipe.
OUTFIT OF THE WEEK
I have to be honest this crazy interesting bag from Zara was my inspiration. It has a thick crossbody strap that is also included. Anything militaty inspired seems good this year, so this bag was my stopping off point. I love a great poncho and this one from Tuckernuck is highly rated. I have been coveting the Birdies camo loafers forever. I also love Machete accessories.

MILIEU MAGAZINE TURNS 10
Talented Houston designer Pamela Pierce decided ten years ago to go out on a limb (when many shelter magazines were going belly up) and found the wonderful magazine Milieu. I am sure many thought she had lost her marbles. Guess what, the lovely Milieu is still going strong. This month they are featuring the charming bungalow of one of my favorite designers Betsy Brown, photographed by @haris.kenjar You can catch up on back issues of Milieu Magazine on Amazon here. You can also ubscribe to Milieu Magazine here. I have been a subscriber since its inception.
That’s it from my desk this week. Thank you so much for reading Five Fun Distractions you don’t Want to Miss. I hope you are enjoying time with your family and friends on this holiday weekend. You might also enjoy some of my former Sunday favorites here. Now let’s pop over and visit Annie and Mary Ann for their Sunday favorites.

Wineries and gardens – beautiful! Always enjoy new pasta recipes and this sounds delish. Love the outfit of the week, cute bag but the poncho and shoes are on my radar. Always great info Cindy.

Hi Barb
I love a great poncho!!

Hi Cindy,
This is a fun post. I have hazel eyes and have had several basal cell carcinomas removed. Not surprising since I too was the baby oil/cocoa butter era of sunbather. As a strawberry blonde I was told repeatedly to wear a hat and to limit my sun exposure. As a crazy know-it-all teen, I never listened. Haha.
I am ready for poncho weather and hope to see some of it soon.

Hi Karen
I did the same! I have had one basal cell on the inside of my wrist of all places!!

Congrats to Mileu’s success. I pick up a copy now and then but maybe it’s time to subscribe. That pasta looks amazing! xo

Cindy,
That pasta looks easy and delicious!
Your outfits are always beautiful! Love that bag.
And Milieu is one of the most beautiful magazines out there. So happy it has made it 10 years.
Have a wonderful week.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Eliz

Oh Cindy, you are reading my mind for all. About 10 days ago, I order a camel poncho with leather trim from Tuckernuck. I have wanted one of these forever and finally said,
“It’s time” it has not arrived, but I have an ivory bracelet and tortoise hoops, leopard slip on shoes( Birdes were out of my size in everything) and I am purchasing a similar brown bag, but I can use my Bogeta dupe
I will send a picture when the poncho arrives.
The basil pasta dish looks fabulous, I have made a similar dish with vodka pasta.
I am saving the Sonoma gardens article and am sharing the eye color piece. I think they are correct about blue eyes and skin cancer. I have had a malignant skin cancer that fortunately I caught early. I call it Lake Shafer 1962: the iodine and baby oil summer!!
I loved your profile of our friend Pat, the photos were lovely and I am enjoying getting to know her. She is just a lovely woman. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Beth
I spent way too much time on Lake Freeman in the sun in my youth. I had a basal cell cancer on my wrist a few years back. I am sure it will not be my last…I am so glad you and Pat have connected. You are both lovely women and so much fun!

I miss the days when Howard’s sports bar was right next to the Birdies store. He used to bring me home shoes…including those camo loafers which are so comfortable.
Have fun with Summer!!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Mary Ann
I think that is so cute that Howard would bring you shoes!!
