Happy Sunday Everyone, today I am joining my pals Annie and Mary Ann and we are sharing our Sunday favorites. Let’s take a look at a Beautiful Michigan Home Polenta and More.
BON APPETIT POLENTA WITH ROASTED MUSHROOMS AND THYME
This is one of my favorite recipes once the weather turns cool. I like it because it takes the work out of stirring and stirring the polenta by making it in the oven. We have a great purveyor of local mushrooms at the Salinas Farmers Market. Next week I am grabbing some to make this. It is great with Pork Tenderloin or Lamb chops.
BANANA REPUBLIC REBRANDING
When I stopped in at my local store a couple of weeks ago they were talking about “rebranding”. I was thinking to myself uh oh. I had basically given up on BR the last few years because of a decline in quality and “style” if you know what I mean. I stopped in yesterday to return something and what a difference. I can remember saving up my money to purchase things from their heritage line back in the day. I still have a couple of leather jackets that I purchased years ago at Banana as well as a leather skirt that I still wear. Apparently, due to lackluster sales they have rebranded and returned to their roots so to speak. They have “embarked on a massive rebrand that will see the apparel retailer return to its adventurous heritage under the tagline “Imagined Worlds.” You can read more about it here.
I am really loving what I am seeing on their website and in the store.
OUTFIT OF THE WEEK-Cheap Chic
I Wasn’t planning to do an Outfit of the Week this week buy you asked for a cheap chic version. Since you all seemed to love the knitwear trend I thought I would see what I could find at H&M. They are also having 15% off $60 or 20% off $80 + free shipping with code 7856 Everything came from H&M except for the faux suede leggings & dolce vita sneaks (Nordstrom Rack). The faux shearling coat is very similar to the one that I wore here (that sold out before you could snag it last year), also at a much more budget-friendly price.

I first saw Jackye Lanham’s work in a Southern Accents magazine many, many years ago. I loved her work and attempted to copy everything she did with, of course, numerous modifications and substitutions, What a joy it was to see her again!!! Thank you.

I’ve been remiss, Cindy, but your posts are always fun and chock full of ideas and good news. Your title got me on the beautiful home on Lake Michigan. Indeed it is! My son has two homes, one right on the lake and another a half block off. They each have about 5000 square feet. I can’t wait to see what he and his wife do with this latest one, it’s a lot of space to fill!!
Happy Fall!🍁

Cindy,
I’ve never made polenta but I will have to try this recipe. I love mushrooms. Thanks for the heads up on all the sales. I’m loving the taste of fall weather we’ve been enjoying here in SoCal, but by weeks-end, it’s supposed to be hot with Santa Ana winds. Ugh.
I can try to be patient. Soon it will be cool and I’ll be ready for soups and for baking some goodies.
xo,
Karen

Cindy:
This polenta recipe, sooo Delish, cannot wait to make this. I actually made Ambrosia, as had an abundance of Apples, ( small orchard at the farm). This is an fruit salad that has been tradition at every Thanksgiving.
I am so glad about BP, will love to go back to them as always thought there clothing, etc was awesome.
Thank you,

Am pleased to see your knitwear outfit. I purchased a pair of knit palazzo pants and am waiting for the opportunity to wear them. Will have to wait a while as it’s still too hot here. Beautiful post as always, and will have to make the polenta.

If you followed me on Instagram (along with my other 14 followers, haha), you would have seen my post from Sept. 13 regarding Banana Republic’s new looks. Btw, you refer to it as BP In this and one previous post so maybe there’s something I don’t know? They have really stepped up the styles and quality, as you noticed. I wanted to love a few of their sweaters but the sleeves engulfed me and felt too heavy. Otherwise, there are beautiful pieces in the collection and the way they are styled and photographed is much more hip. I remember when there was a store in Carmel Plaza when the styles were actually much more safari , i.e. “Banana Republic”.
Love the polenta recipe idea. Just need for the weather to get a little cooler.
