8 Fall Decor Ideas to Embrace the Season

I don’t know about you but this time of year is my favorite. The weather is beautiful but I am looking ahead and planning for Fall. Do you enjoy decorating for fall? There is no need to rush out and purchase artificial pumpkins and scarecrows at the local craft store. Instead try to combine vintage finds and treasures from your own home with natural fall elements such as leaves, pumpkins and gourds for a more collected curated look that is all your own. You can read my signature post on How to Get the Collected Look here. Let’s take a look at 8 Fall Decor Ideas to Embrace the Season.

I have been blogging since 2012. There are a lot of posts many of you have never seen. To be honest there are many you don’t ever want to see. The text may have been somewhat interesting but the photos were terrible. Below I am featuring eight posts that I think might serve as inspiration to you for the upcoming season.

Favorite Fall Candles find your Signature Scent

Hi All. I have been on the hunt for a great fall/winter candle that can span the entire season. Scent is very personal.  I lean toward a citrusy, fresh-smelling candle year-round, but would like an earthier, woodsy type that will last through the winter.  I am not looking for something that smells like pumpkin or

How to Decorate for Fall with Natural Elements

Happy Tuesday. Today I am sharing my home decorated for Fall. Let’s talk about How to Decorate for Fall with Natural Elements. Let’s begin at the front door.

Easy Foraged Outdoor Fall Decor You Will Love

We are hosting Thanksgiving this year so I am working on a little outdoor decor to welcome my guests. Let’s take a look at my Easy Foraged Outdoor Fall Decor You Will Love. All you need are pumpkins and fall leaves. We are lucky to have this wonderful outdoor courtyard space in our new home.

How to Style a Console

I am a huge fan of a good console. A creatively styled console gives a foyer, wall, or sofa importance.  When styling your table or console piece pull accent colors from the rugs, fabrics, or art in the room. If your console piece isn’t big enough for the space, try adding a pair of chairs.

It is always interesting to look back on some of my old posts. Some of my favorites are not necessarily yours. Of all these posts, the last that I did in my son’s home on his beautiful console is my personal favorite.

Interestingly it never got any traction on Pinterest or social media. I think because of the size. My kids have so many interesting accessories and furniture, it was a creators dream. My second favorite was probably #3.

The fixer upper (which is now a rental) had such great bones that it was really fun to decorate. You can never go wrong with the character of an old house. The other posts are from our Chualar home where we had so many great memories.

We created the home ground up with an extremely limited budget. Our kids helped build it from start to finish, so there are so many great memories. That house had architectural details that this home does not because we were obsessed with creating an old look in a new home. However, we love our new home for so many more reasons. Never be afraid to move on at an older age. Change is good. There are always new avenues to explore and embrace for different reasons.

I am so grateful to all of you for sticking with me. I know many of you prefer my fashion posts. I hope that you can embrace the combination of how to achieve a collected look in your home and your wardrobe. It really is a lifestyle. If you like the look in your home why not embrace that same concept in your wardrobe? Or, if you love a more individual curated style in your wardrobe, why not embrace that in your home as well? Do you welcome both? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for reading 8 Fall Decor Ideas to Embrace the Season. I so appreciate you taking time out of your busy day to stop here.

    Cindy,
I’m a former subscriber who’s back again and happy to be here. I clicked on the “YOU MIGHT ALSO LIKE” section above, “Fall Wardrobe Items I am Covering Now” (10/22), and I can share a great source for custom made boots. I’m a standard Medium width, tall, long legs, and muscular calves from a lifetime of walking, hiking, biking, dancing, ending in trim ankles. I agree, wide boots are baggy at the ankles and sit too far below the knee for me. While shopping for a baby bag for my granddaughter (we have a great-grand!) I found Poppy Barley, a Canadian leather goods company that will create custom-sized boots from the styles they carry. Their quality is impeccable. Take a peek https://poppybarley.com/collections/tall-boots/?loc=nav and happy shopping!

Morning Cindy! A little late in replying here but sincerely, I love your decor posts the most. Now that I am a true empty nester with my husband’s passing, I am tweaking my home. You know, that eyesore of an easy chair well past its prime or the modern chrome reading lamp that was always in the way, Yup. While I love your Chualar and New homes, it’s your Fixer-Upper that I am always returning to. Fashion posts are nice but I find so much is out of my price range. Great inspo though! Thanks for them all and be well. xx-hb

    Hi Cindy,
I always get overly excited for autumn to arrive this time of year. I know it will be several weeks before cooler temps, but getting ready for the season is fun. I loved your posts on the topic through the years. I’ll go back and revisit some of these.
If I had kept going with my blog site, I’d be celebrating the birthday day of Garden, Home and Party, est. 2009. Yikes.

Cindy, I laughed out loud at your comment about blogging since 2012. I have too and my old photos are frightening!

Love all of these posts and agree, skip the scarecrows(unless you like them) and bring in some Fall with throws, found foliage and other items in your house.

I am off to enjoy these posts from over the years.

    Have a wonderful weekend(almost).

Hi Cindy, please keep posting as you do — fashion, food, decor and garden — I love them all. You are a breath of fresh air in the blogging world! Best regards, Helen

I’m a rare commenter and wanted to respond on the point you make about a collected style for both home and wardrobe. I particularly gravitate toward design, but also enjoy the fashion features you prepare. I’m turning 65 and am at the stage of paring everything (all the things!) back and blending a very few inherited pieces of furniture, jewelry, clothing with an eye toward purchasing a select few new pieces. All that to say, your blog speaks to me on a personal level and I appreciate your style on home and fashion, so would vote for your continuing to share both!

    Cindy-
I enjoyed the look back at the Fall decor ideas. You inspired me to retrieve my Fall decor from my storage area. Happy Fall Cindy!!

  14. Diane says

Hi Cindy, I actually prefer the decorating posts to the fashion ones. Hope you never stop with the decor posts!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Sure! I love votivo. I particularly like their red currant. I think it is great in any season and their candles and diffusers are still somewhat reasonable. I also like the Nest Bamboo. I am not a big pumpkin, vanilla or spice girl. You are probably better getting recommendations from others on those. I tend to like fresh or earthy scents. I linked to my favorites in the candle post.

  15. AJ says

Always enjoy your posts. Especially enjoy the decor ones. I am still hanging tight to Summer but realize one of these morning I will wake up and it will be fall! I especially loved the console in your sons house – the table is gorgeous!

  16. Joanna says

Our homes are very different. While I like a collected look, my home is more transitional while your’s is more rustic in decor. I can still gleam ideas from your vignettes and always love your garden.
I decorate with a discreet hand for fall. Mainly changing out the colors from white to browns & creams with a small touch of gold. I change out the throw on my sofa for a heavier weight one, change out the lumbar pillow for a fall one with embroidered leaves (no cutesy words), and add two glass pumpkins closer to Thanksgiving and Halloween, one on my mantel and the other on my console.

  17. Helen says

    Cindy,
I am loving the mix of fashion and home decor. I was in my fifties before I actually realized what my décor style was….duh! I was always changing this or that, but it was just never right…..guess I’m a slow learner.
At the age of 80, I definitely stick with what makes me happy now,
    Helen

      Hi Patricia

I love a good candle. I have linked my favorites in one of this post. I also use diffusers in my guest bathrooms!

Your home design posts are terrific. I always learn something and get great ideas on how to use what I have in new ways. Keep them going please!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Becky

Thank you I am really glad you think so. I would hate to do nothing but fashion!

    Ahhh, Cindy!

I love everything you post! I never spent much time “curating” our home. Was always busy with work and night school. Now, in retirement, I take joy in curating our home …. and curating myself! I find inspiration in every post you present. My friends have noticed your influence on my wardrobe, so thanks for that! I admire the way you use new, old, cherished, and disposable in lovingly arranging yourself and your home. Keep going! You are the best!

  21. Melinda says

I really look forward to your posts. Love garden, home, and fashion posts and general info for skin, beauty, and new things I don’t know about. Thank you so much.

      Hi Char

I am so happy my decor peeps are speaking up! I try to do one of these wrap up posts every month or so for those of you who have missed some of the older posts. Some of the older posts are the best!
