13 Fresh Coffee Table Decor Ideas to Welcome Spring
Small Coffee Table Spring Styling-Keep it Simple
When styling a smaller coffee table keep the design simple so you don’t overwhelm it. Add some simple spring blooms or greenery and some spring-inspired elements. Remember, you still want to be able to put a drink on the table at the very least.
In lieu of a vase choose a vintage pewter coffee pot. Fill it with simple greenery from the yard, place on a tray, with a few books and natural elements. Guests can still prop their feet up or rest a drink on the perimeter of the table.
This coffee table is by the talented Sherrry Hart. Sherry simplified the design with spring flowers in a vase, a few coffee table books and a bowl filled with her signature beads. You can follow Sherry on Instagram here for more inspiration with a fresh dose of humor.
Spring in our den calls for a vase filled with blooming branches from the yard, a tribal basket and simple shed cow horn.
Here is another straightforward arrangement of three in a favorite project of mine several years ago.
Grid System for a Larger Spring Coffee Table
The grid system works well on a largertable if you like a “fuller” coffee table vignette. For a square choose your central element first. It should be larger (not necessarily taller) than the elements you place in the other four quadrants. This Native American basket is filled with faux flowers (delphinium). The other four quadrants are stacks of coffee table books with natural elements or baskets on top. HGTV suggests marking the quadrants off with tape if you find a large area to challenging.
Here is another example of the grid system on my current coffee table in the living room of my former home. This spring vignette (or summer) is all about texture.
Central Grouping on Large Table
I keep my coffee table display simple in my current great room. The built in bookcases already have plenty going on. I don’t want the coffee table decor to compete with the shelf styling or the TV. I like to layer the modern coffee table with a big vintage bread board (to tone down the newness of the table). Here I have styled it simply with grape leaves from the garden, a candle and a pair of vintage child’s boots.
Here is a very similar grouping in my former home.
Keep it natural with a big jar of cherry blossom branches, walnuts, dried chola, and a dried sea urchin.
This is the same coffee table layered with a round vintage breadboard, a two large bouquets, a candle, and coasters.
This is last years spring coffee table vignette with fresh blooms from trader joes that reflect the colors in the throw pillows and mantel decor, simple but impactful. I find as I age, I prefer a simpler arrangement. Often when we have guests we remove everything except the flowers and serve appetizers from the breadboard by layering another tray on the breadboard. This is also a variation of the rule of threes.
The Rule of Threes
Here I applied the no fail rule of three’s. Two larger elements the antique box, and the bouquet of faux ferns, with a stone chain element from Target. This allows for plenty of extra space for drinks etc.
The same coffee table simply styled with a big bouquet of garden roses, the antique box, and a candle.

Hi Cindy – I continue to enjoy both your blog and Instagram posts! Congratulations on bringing the adorable “Scout” into the family…what a cutie! I was struck today by the beautiful dark blue wicker chair you show in the photo of your former home. Can you tell me anything about where I might find a similar one? I absolutely have the perfect place for it.
Again, keep up the great work…I’ll be following right along!

Hi Sheila
I think I responded to your question but it is not showing up. I am so sorry. That chair came from Mulligans

I traded a client for them. It looks like they only carry the rocker version now. They were quite expensive. I would do a google search and see if you could find an old one that is similar that you could have reupholstered.
