Wedding Attire for Women over 50 You Will Love

Happy Tuesday everyone! It’s that time of the month when Sarah, Kim, and I pick a topic for our Signature Style Series. You asked for it so this month we are talking about Spring Wedding attire. Let’s take a look at Wedding Attire for Women Over 50, You Will Love

According to Bride’s Magazine “Weddings will become more casual with less of a black-tie- feel”, and “we will see more guests wearing midi and mini-length dresses”. Dresses with patterns and floral designs are very popular this season. Make sure to dress appropriately for the venue and attire specified. Be sure you aren’t wearing the same color as the bride’s bridal party and of course stay away from all white.

2022 is the year of the wedding, and many are being held outside. This first outfit features a beautiful dress from Boden, sandals from Laidback London, a cute clutch, and earrings from Etsy. This outfit would be appropriate for a beach wedding as well. This dress also has a skirt in the same pattern here.

We are attending a wedding in Hawaii next week and this is what I will be wearing. The ceremony is on the beach, so I will be wearing my favorite linen skirt from CP Shades also with Laidback London sandals, earrings from Amazon a wide-brimmed hat from Etsy, and a clutch from Lulus. No need to spend a ton of money on accessories for the Summer. Don’t be afraid to mix the high and low.

This outfit features a pretty shift dress from Tucknernuck with a jeweled neckline. I like the juxtaposition of the two. I featured the same inexpensive earrings from Amazon, a straw hat and clutch from Etsy, and Naturalizer block heals. This outfit would be great for an outdoor venue as well.

FASHION OVER 50 SPRING WEDDING OUTFIT

This simple silk shirt dress from Wolf and Badger is dressed up with fabulous earrings from J Crew, Unisa block heels, and an ikat clutch from Etsy. You could certainly add a straw hat if the wedding is outside.

Last but not least is an evening/more formal option. I doubt there are very many of these weddings this year but I have heard of a few. Everything in this ensemble (except for the blouse which you will wear multiple times I am sure) and Torey Burch sandals is inexpensive. You do not need to buy an expensive tulle skirt. They are all the same. I had an expensive one that fell apart, and the cheap one is still intact. FYI the great thing about wearing a long skirt is no one knows you aren’t wearing heels!

PRETTY WEDDING GUEST DRESSES

As I mentioned before, I have a hard time with dresses. I am long-waisted with short legs (a bad combo). Here are some dresses I love. I hope you might find one that catches your eye as well.

I am sorry that I have not been showing any of the clothes on (me) lately. It is a little crazy around here. I will be back at that as soon as we get moved. Now let’s pop over and visit Sarah and Kim for their features.

Hey Cindy! You are so busy – moving and now a trip to Hawaii!! Maybe that’s not as big a deal from CA as it is from the East Coast.

I am also workin on a wedding dress post, and I want to link to this one.

Cindy, I adore all these looks. Pinning away like crazy. We have three more weddings on the calendar this year … two over the summer and I’m all about your spring garden wedding collage. Love the black skirt with white shirt too … so classically elegant. Reminds me of Sharon Stone. I love weddings and looking at outfit options, endlessly. So happy you, Kim and Sarah covered this topic. I’ve got so may new inspiration ideas. My poor husband … ‘what do you mean you have nothing to wear.’ Sigh. xo

Thank you for all the work you put into these posts! I find them so helpful, and I have 2 weddings to attend next month. I only wish I was attending on in Hawaii! But I will actually be going to one in California, and have planned to spend a couple of days in Carmel. Can’t wait!!

      Hi Joan

Enjoy your wedding out here and Carmel. You will love it. Let me know if you need any suggestions for places to visit!

Funny, but I just wore the “Evening Wedding” butterfly skirt this past weekend. I wore the white and black version to a dinner-dance event. I received many compliments. The quality of this skirt, for that price, is unbelievable. In fact, I have 4 different versions of this skirt in different patterns and colors. I intend on wearing the butterfly skirt in cream and taupe for my son’s wedding. Who’d have thought – $40 for a wedding outfit. BTW, I just bought the shell purse that you mentioned above, to go with it. Thank you, your blog came at just the right time.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Christine

Aren’t those skirts fun. I think tulle is tulle and I would not pay a lot of money for one.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Francesca

So sorry I am so late in responding. We have been busy…busy!
