You might enjoy reading my post on How to Create a Workable Spring Wardrobe Wish List here I have acquired a few items from that list but not all. First of all, in my humble opinion, it is all about the accessories. I don’t have a lot of patterns in my wardrobe, so I rely heavily on accessories and texture. I am not suggesting you should not embrace a trend or two, but if you want your wardrobe to last focus on texture and accessories that you can intermix with your staples.

Additions to my summer wardrobe that are on my radar, are a few accessories to compliment what I own, and a few colorful linen pieces that will add some fun for the summer holidays and summer season.

You always look so cute and comfortable in your wide leg pants. I wonder if you ever shop JJill. They carry lots of styles with wider legs. I just wanted to tip you off, if you haven’t visited their site. It sounds like Banana Republic may be closing stores so you may need to find other places to shop. I enjoy your blog so much. Keep sharing your great ideas.

      Hi Susan

Now that I have moved we do not have a J Jill store here. We have anthropologie (very limited selection and mostly suited to college girls), Athleta, and Banana Republic. I have mixed luck with J Jill.I had a pair of jeans that were favorites, which I linked to many times and then they discontinued them. I have ordered several things to try. They should be here next week.

Love your style Cindy! So cute. Wish I had your knack. I would be lost in the amount of fabric some of these styles represent, and I try to avoid wearing black. Your post gives a good outline of “how to do it” though.

      Hi Nancy

I always return to black but love color as well. I am loving white now that my hair is white!

Love your summer wishlist, also looking for a black/straw bag that doesn’t scream summer. Have you tried the Toteme chunky sandals? I’ve tried one of my friend’s and it feels like walking in clouds, I have it on my Mother’s Day wish list.

Cindy when you describe your style aesthetics I thought how much it resembles the way you decorate your home as well. I adore your style and there is a part of me that wants to dress just like you but I’m afraid I wouldn’t look as natural and chic as you do all the time. Love your practical list of elements to add to your wardrobe. Are you finding the dresses the hardest to find with all the foo-foo dresses out there. I’ve been looking for just one pretty dress for the last two seasons and have yet to find one. I’m just a classic preppy gal at heart but there is a feminine romantic side to my dress desires too. The hunt continues!

Cindy, You could never be bland!I love this post and you are spot on about great style.. You need beautiful pieces in solids and fun accessories …and will always look chic. You make everything look like a million bucks.
This yellow pant is perfect on you with the black and I adore the tote too.I need to buy a few things from my wishlist this time! I think I will get at least a skirt and a bag…I want your bag too. xo

Love your style…..very much like mine. I do get concerned that I am only 5 ft 2 inches that a lot of time too much fabric overwhelms me. I am thin and can get lost if I am not mindful of the garments.
I enjoy your posts……very down to earth and real.🥰🥰🥰

    Hi Cindy,
I must say that I love your timeless and logo free style.
I enjoy reading different blogs, and yours seems to be the one that shows the most commitment to your own personal style, regardless of the trends all around. Brava!
May I recommend a local hat company, here in Boulder, CO? Wallaroo Hat’s offer both great sun protection, and style. I’m lucky enough to be able to attend their yearly warehouse sale in the fall, so have a nice collection!

Hi Cindy. Love the post! Just wanted to say that I purchased those Beek slides last year in Red. They are very cute but wide. I had to purchase the stick on inserts so they would no fall off when I walk. The leather squeaks when I walk! I should advise not getting the platform version but the flatter ones as it is easy to twist your ankle on them. Like them. But wish I had gone with shorter ones.

Love your style and your advice. Love how just a few new items can change your entire look. Thank you

I love your accessories advice! A few well chosen ones makes so much difference in a wardrobe! You look smashing as always.

Thank you for always being so supportive…you are the best!

Hi, is there a link for Kim?

I could not function without my (online) wish lists for clothing. I find all the options tempting but confusing, and I do better when I have a plan. Also, though, having my wish list online (at Nordstrom and Bloomingdales) allows me to quickly shop when great sales happen. I save so much money by delaying my purchases until they’re well thought-out. And I agree, buying less, but buying intentionally, provides me with clothing items I truly love and wear.

Love your outfits!! What is your go to red lipstick? It’s so pretty! Thanks!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Marianne

There is only one lipcolor that stays on (I think I have tried them all) and isn’t drying.

I alternate between strawberry red and bright raspberry. I sometimes wear sensual rose if those are too bright. It is pricey but worth it in my opinion!

      • Pam says

I totally agree and very difficult to find lately. It stays on all day and not drying with gloss on top. Have not worn bright raspberry but love the 2 other colors you mentioned.
