Fall is my favorite season for fashion. I love the colors and textures. Fall here on the Central Coast of CA can be warm, so we really can’t wear anything very heavy until after Christmas. I am always on the lookout for fall transition pieces that you can wear now.
I have lost a few pounds (thank you weight watchers!) so I have gone down a size in jeans (yippee). I hate spending a fortune on jeans, don’t you? Madewell has the high rise skinny, one of my favorites on sale. I bought them on a whim and lucked out. They hold their shape and are super flattering (my daughter just bought them as well) The hems are slightly distressed just enough that they don’t look like they belong in the rag pile, with a high rise (that is not so high that they look like the old mom jeans.
I thought I would put together a couple looks that could be built around these jeans. I always love leopard, khaki, and denim. Gap has this beautiful suede kimono jacket. It is a little pricey for Gap but literally 50% off right now. I have my eye on this watch from Madewell (maybe a Christmas present?). Love these leopard mules from Madewell I have foot issues but these stretch and work (the winter version of flip flops!) I personally would not spend a fortune on anything that is too trendy so these are wallet friendly. Love anything tortoise from J Crew, I already own these earrings and love them. Their tortoise jewelry always looks good. Check out the Mark and Graham monogrammed tortoise bracelets (fun for you or someone special!). You all know what a big fan I am of this Michael Stars Shine Crewneck, it is hard to beat. These wayfarers seem to look good on everyone, they are a classic and they are half off here.
I love things that look artisan-made (so they don’t look like everyone on the planet doesn’t have one). I recently purchased the jacket below on Anthro Day. It looks like it came from another brand that charges many more $$$$.
It has a great flattering fit (note the sleeves are a little long) but otherwise it looks much more expensive than it actually was. The picture does not do it justice I also own the coral linen shirt from J Crew and it is on sale for $29.99. I own this color and the black and white. J Crew does a great job with the tailoring on their shirts. I am not sure I could wear those embroidered mules but aren’t they wonderful? Has anyone tried them? You can shop the widget below the graphic if you see anything you like.

Love the outfits too, perfect for a transition to cooler weather, comfy and very fun with just the right amount of color and pattern, but I will be looking for faux leopard print mules this Fall instead of ones made from calf hair. Please let me know if you have spotted any!

Very pretty. It’s so warm in Southern California, I wonder if we’ll ever cool down. Still, fall is my favorite season so I need to look forward, fingers crossed, to the cooler weather. Love your selections.

Cindy Love everything! Your style posts are so fun. I am ready for fall now and sick of my summer things. You are so right about needing transition pieces here. Tortoise and leopard, fall colors and all that I love now. What great mules. I am afraid I may buy a few of these things! Excited to see your posts tomorrow!

Beautiful transition pieces. I’m in love with the anthro embroidered jacket. I’m also a lover of leopard and tortoise pieces for Fall. Fun fun post. Thanks for the inspiration. I just ordered two leopard pieces from Bowden last night. Hopefully I can get a fashion post up sooner than later. Wish me luck.

This really makes me want to go shopping for clothes! I saw the leopard mules in Madewell yesterday and they are so cute! I should just order them! I threw away my old leopard loafers last year. You gave me the best advice about shopping on Anthro days. I just love your style.
Cindy Hattersley says
The downside of doing these style posts is we want it all!

That khaki suede jacket is gorgeous. I love that entire ensemble, from the jacket to the leopard shoes to the tortoise shell bangles (leopard and tortoise really do play well together).

Hi Cindy, I totally love your collections. That Gap kimono jacket looks luscious! I wish I could wear that color. I know what you mean about it taking a while to get to actual heavier pieces so transition is a long season for those of us in Northern California.
You’ve got me putting my transition hat and thinking about combos for September and October. Thanks my dear for all the inspiration!

I love that kimono jacket from Gap as well. It probably is not my best color either Brenda I will have to ask you that?!!
