The Best Stylish Table Lamps for Every Budget
Lighting is arguably one of the most overlooked elements in home decor. Proper lighting not only enhances the beauty of your space but also sets the mood and makes your room feel warm, inviting, and functional. Combining ambient, task, and accent lighting allows you to achieve depth and dimension so that your home feels cozy and practical. Natural light is equally important (we can chat about that in another post). Thoughtful lighting choices can elevate even the simplest of spaces, adding comfort and warmth that reflects your home’s style. Let’s chat about my top picks for the best stylish table lamps for every budget.

Most of the lamps in my home led a former life as something else. The lamp in one of the guest bedrooms in our former home was a repurposed newel post. We added a mica shade. The lamp base in our primary bedroom is from an old porch railing. The shade is from Ballard. The lamp in our fixer upper living room is a repurposed wicker covered bottle with a hide shade.

The right table lamp can be a statement piece that adds ambiance, character, and style to your home. Whether you’re looking for a high-end designer lamp or a budget-friendly option that still delivers on beauty and charm, there’s something for every taste and price point. I’ve always believed that great lighting doesn’t have to break the bank, and some of my favorite lamps are crafted from found objects (at affordable prices) or unexpected materials. In this roundup, in this blog post, I’m sharing a curated selection of stylish table lamps at a variety of price points. Your best option is one that can blend function and design in your living space.

This lamp is a popular base from Pottery Barn (no longer available but similar to the Miller featured below). The shade was from an old lamp that is no longer in use.

Modern table lamps require less energy and often come with brightness settings, touch controls, and many other additional features. They come in every imaginable decor style, material, and silhouette. If you are looking for something for your living room, dining room, home office, or bedroom, consider the size of the room and the end tables. For a console table, you might consider a pair of lamps.
Beautiful Lamps Worthy of a Splurge
If you can afford it, some beautiful lamps are worth splurging on. Most of these are under $500. I have featured. I love the big, chunky, knobby version from Ballard, and the black pottery base with the woven shade from Crate and Barrel would look fabulous in my den.

Mid-Range Stylish Finds ($100–$300)
There are many beautiful, well-made lamps that balance quality and affordability that won’t break the bank. I have rounded up some of my favorite table lamps from Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, West Elm, and others that will suit specific areas in your home.

Nine Price Friendly Gems Under $100
Yes, it is possible to find lamps under $100, but they are far and few. Many will have shades that aren’t very interesting. You can always change out the shade, but sometimes, that can be the most expensive part of the lamp. TJ Maxx has some great finds under $100 from Jamie Young, Elie Tahari and more. I am loving the green ceramic base version from Target by Studio McGee.

Many lamps come with a simple linen shade which is fine. If you would like to swap your shade out for a pop of color or a pretty pattern, there are some great options. Ballard Designs always has some great options often on sale here. Greenrow has some pretty fabric options here. Etsy has a range of options from fabric to marbelized paper here.

I purchased 2 gorgeous Chinoise lamps for $8.00 each at a thrift store! Never know what I will find. Lucky find!
I really love my home and furnishings but I wanted to do something to freshen up the look, and I chose to change up a lot of the lighting. I bought a number of lamps from a brushed brass reading light in the family room, a new small lamp in my kitchen to put on a hutch (also brushed brass – it made such a difference), new lamps in the primary bedroom. My favorite change of all wasn’t new – it was a formerly black jug base lamp in my family room that I was simply tired of the color. I looked at many different sources and couldn’t find one I liked. Then it hit me – why not paint it. I purchased a brushed brass color, and I spray painted it. I absolutely love it. I also purchased a $10 brown colored wood lamp which I spray painted the same color. This one sits on top of a men’s armoire for a bit of ambient lighting. It’s only paint , it cost the price of one can of paint, and it was fun. I’m really happy with the new look throughout the house.
I am not receiving your emails and I miss them. I’ve checked trash. Is there a reason? Help!
Thanks.
Pam
Great post! thanks.
My name is Carol and I’m a “lampoholic”. Truly. Can’t resist em. Love your choices here. I just bought one this week —a gorgeous carved Alabaster one that I’m having rewired. I’ve been looking for one forever. Love your sense of lamp style!
Me too Carol! I put it in my bedroom and got a pretty patterned shade and new finial for it. I bet they are very similar!’
Oh I love alabaster! I bought a beautiful large urn shaped alabaster lamp on eBay and had it rewired and it’s stunning!
TIP: for those spots in your house without power plugs nearby you can buy lightbulbs online that are charged via USB and controlled with a small remote. Love them!
TIP 2: Download the app CYNC and use it to control your lightbulbs via your iPhone, with GE CYNC lighbulbs like this: https://www.target.com/p/ge-cync-reveal-smart-light-bulbs-full-color-bluetooth-and-wi-fi-enabled/-/A-85923233#lnk=sametab. Takes 1 minute to set up, you can set schedules or just turn on and off. Love this feature, I can turn lights on and off from anywhere.
My problem is matching shades with a lamp. I love to buy beautiful older lamps from estate sales, but my shades are lacking. I need help with matching a correct shade to the size and style of lamp. I absolutely love any blue and white anything.
great picks as always Cindy!
How did you know I was shopping for lamps? I tend to choose boring ones…but you’ve inspired me to step up my game.
