Sunday Fab Five: Nathan Turner’s I Love to Decorate and This Week’s Obsessions
If you’ve been following along here for any time at all, you know I have a weakness for a beautiful decorating book, a great recipe, and anything that qualifies as “research” for my wardrobe. This week’s Fab Five has all of that and more Nathan Turner’s I Love to Decorate has been living on my nightstand (and honestly affecting my outfit choices, more on that in a moment). If you are having houseguests for Memorial weekend Ina has done it again with great recipe options. , and I may have a new television obsession courtesy of the Dutton Ranch. Grab a cup of coffee or a glass of wine and let’s chat about Sunday Fab Five: Nathan Turner’s I Love to Decorate and This Week’s Obsessions This is a good one.
Sunday Fab Five: Nathan Turner’s I Love to Decorate and This Week’s Obsessions
Nathan Turner I Love to Decorate
Nathan Turner’s I Love to Decorate is everything I believe good decorating should be, relaxed, collected, and utterly California without trying too hard. His look is relatable and attainable. Love him!

Dutton Ranch on Paramount
If you were a Yellowstone fan , Dutton Ranch is the show you didn’t know you needed. Beth and Rip trading Montana for South Texas, with the incomparable Ed Harris and Annette Bening stirring up trouble as their new neighbors. Can this be bad?

Outfits of the Week
I am not normally drawn to brown or sleeveless. I admit it, but the Gerard Darel scarf was my inspiration. Throw a great scarf/wrap over your shoulders and don’t worry about the sleeves. Add a unique bag, inexpensive shell earrings, bangles, comfy Tom’s sandals and one of my all time fave hats and you are good to go!

Everything in this outfit of the week is from Target except the earrings and the scarf. I popped in to my local Target and spotted this gauze outfit and almost brought it home (brown isn’t my best look). Target has some fabulous straw bags at great prices including the one here

Ina Garten House Guests are Coming
Are you entertaining for Memorial Day weekend? Ina shares some of her favorite Memorial Day recipes in her post House Guests are Coming here.
Annie has a book Coming!
Our talented friend Annie from Most Lovely Things, has a book coming out in 2027. It is tentatively titled Made with Love-100 Recipes for Gifting From the Kitchen. Doesn’t this sound like fun? Stay tuned….
What are the Chances of Meeting a Reader in a small village in France?
Steve and I ducked into a little restaurant in the village of La Coste one rainy afternoon. You know one of those impromptu lunches that turns into something you’ll talk about for years. The rosé was exceptional, and as it happened, the winery owners were sitting right next to us. One thing led to another, and we’d arranged a tasting for the following day at Domaine Jeanne before the check arrived.
We weren’t the only ones at the winery the next afternoon. A couple had come up from Houston, and I did a double-take when I realized the woman asked if I knew Cindy Hattersley? It turns out it was Shari Poteet, a longtime reader. We ended up chatting like old friends, and somehow the afternoon stretched to include a visit to Ridley Scott’s winery just down the road. I will never get over meeting readers out in the wild. It is so much fun, and I am so honored.

So that’s this week’s Fab Five, a decorating book that might just change the way you think about your home, a couple of outfits that prove great style is all about attitude. Ina doing what Ina does best, and a new television obsession I have a feeling we’ll be talking about all summer. As always, thank you for reading Sunday Fab Five: Nathan Turner’s I Love to Decorate and This Week’s Obsessions, and spending part of your Sunday here. It truly is my favorite day to show up in your inbox. Wishing you a beautiful week ahead, friends. What do you have planned for your Sunday?

Hi Cindy, unfortunately my post disappeared suddenly while writing. So frustrating, and it’s happened before. I must admit, it puts me off spending the time connecting. You know I travel often and I was writing about my recent time in 🇬🇧and 🏴🛟 , sharing with you and your readers some wonderful places to visit. Any thoughts why ?
Hi Cath
I have no idea why. It does happen to me on occassion when I am commenting on someone else’s post. I usually accidentally hit the wrong key and poof!
Thanks for sharing the reasonably priced Target outfit. Would love more of these. Going to order the brown gauze in XS and hope it will fit and not be too long as Target clothes run large and long! Would prefer white but it’s see through from reviews! Thanks again!
Hi Pam
I am working on a Zara faves post as well. I like to offer affordable options when I can find them!!
How fun to meet one of us readers in the wild! There isn’t a Target anywhere near me just a Walmart. This is a small town in southern Colorado. I found the sizing very interesting as I would wear a small petite at Target and a large or 12P just about anywhere else. The waist is way more realistic for real women of an age. I loved the gauze top and pants but in cream. Those pants are $30! I love gauze for our hot summer weather and I like the loose wider leg to let air move. I can’t wear brown either, but cream, yes!
Hi Sydney
Target’s sizing is crazy isn’t it? I resisted buying because now that my hair is white cream is not all that great on me either! I was impressed with the quality and would have purchased if the colors were better for me personally
Morning Cindy~
Great post as always. But today’s felt just “special”. Great decorating book and ideas (already put kanthas on a small bench like the first image). Cute outfits (love the shell earrings). I will try watching the Dutton Ranch (never could embrace Yellowstone). And to see how you have gone global! You deserve the fame!
Have you watched The Madison? A great piece on a woman’s journey through grief. A difficult subject but, spot on to my experience now three years on. Michelle Pfeiffer is fabulous, as is Kurt Russell. And oh, the scenery is killer.
Wishes for a happy week!
Holly! Yes I have Madison on my list trying to convince the hubs to watch. I bet you could relate… I may have to watch it on my own. You have convinced me. I haven’t one global ha ha. I have a huge readership in Texas interestingly enough. Yellowtone really got violent in the end…but these two characters are soooo good, and the addition of Ed Harris and Annette Benning can not be bad!!
I’m the one that was honored to meet you! I kept looking at you and thinking about how much you resembled Cindy Hattersley so I was truly shocked when you said it was you!
Thank you for spending your afternoon with us. It was such a special experience!
Shari Poteet
Hi Shari!
It was such fun getting to know you two! Let us know if you ever head this way! Would love to see you again!!
How fun is that…to meet a reader!! I love Nathan Turner. Thanks for the book recommendation.
Cindy! What a fun thing to be having lunch in La Coste and then be seated next to the owners of the winery of the rosé you’re drinking!
Thank you so much for the mention of my book! That means the world!
xx
Hi Annie
The Rose from that winery is amazing!!
Hello Cindy,
How lovely to meet a reader in France!! That is very special. Love the brown look that linen dress is a real find. And I have my eye on that Tuckernuck bag it is so unique.
Happy week!
Hi Francesca
It was such fun to meet Shari. I think that linen dress is beautiful and sleeveless works with a shawl!! That Tuckernuck bag is darling…
