Zara finds, Veggie Recipes and a Quiz you won’t Want to Miss

Happy Sunday! Are you all busy preparing for Thanksgiving? Today I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday favorites. Today let’s chat about Zara finds, Veggie Recipes and a Quiz you won’t Want to Miss.

JUST FOR FUN TAKE THE AGEIST SUPER AGE QUIZ

I love what the Ageist group are doing. They are ” dedicated to championing the vitality, influence and contributions of the modern 50-plus demographic”. They always cover age appropriate topics and interview fascinating people. If you aren’t following them, I would highly recommend doing so. This is not sponsored in any way. I just like what they are doing. You can follow them here, or on Instagram here, and sign up for the quiz here. I am a fox. I am not sure that is a good thing. What are you and what does it mean?

OUTFIT OF THE WEEK

Zara really has some great affordable fashion. I am shocked at how pricey clothing has gotten. I added some accessories and shoes from other retailers. All of the links are below the graphic.

The faux leather pants, the turtleneck, the beautiful scarf are all from Zara. The bag is from Anthropologie, and the earrings are from Machete (on sale). The velvet loafers are from Birdies.

WHAT VEGGIES ARE YOU COOKING FOR THANKSGIVING

We have always done green beans and usually someone brings brussel sprouts. Jenna and I will be doing the veggies this year so should we do our fave green bean recipe (it really isn’t a recipe) or one of Ina Garten’s fave brussel sprout recipes? What are you cooking?

I make a version of this recipe from a beautful plate, every year but I add a handful of fresh thyme which I think is essential to any version of this recipe.

I am a huge veggie fan so we will probably also do one of Ina Garten’s recipes for brussel sprouts recipes as well ,which she highlighted here on Instagram. Did you grow up with mushy brussel sprouts and hate them? I did. Now I love them.

ZARA GIFTS

I love Zara for affordable options. I think they are working on being more sustainable. They always have interesting offerings at good prices. You know I love scarves, so I thought I would feature some of their lovely scarves, sweaters and home items. Again, buy the best you can, but hey we all appreciate a bargain, right?

Also a fox…and fan of Brussel sprouts – I thought I was the only one. I like them drizzled with olive oil and some herbs then roasted.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Cathy

I think those who hate brussel sprouts have never had good ones!! I like them roasted and raw in salads!!

  2. Garden Goddess says

What vegetables am I serving at Thanksgiving? Garlic-herb sauteed green beans (I do the same at Xmas with Brussel’s sprouts); Bourbon-orange glazed sweet potatoes, and succotash! Succotash is Lima beans and corn, and is my salute to the first Thanksgiving. If you want to make it a bit more interesting you can add any or all of the following: pearl onions, red and yellow bell pepper, butternut squash (smaller dice), Poblano peppers, in a cream sauce with a bit of nutmeg. Oh, and instead of regular corn and Brussel’s sprouts, I prefer baby Brussels and sweet corn–both usually frozen. The pearl onions are always frozen too because they are ever so much easier to deal with than to peal all those tiny onions… If you prefer low-cal, go with the first option, and if you care to splurge, go with the second.

    Bon Apetit

Thanks for the link to the quiz! I found out that I’m an owl. It’s amazing how accurate the quiz is! I’m looking forward to finding out more ways to making aging better. Love the Zara black vest and scarves.

  4. Maureen Morton says

I’m a fox as well, however I’m also 75 so probably I should have taken this test 10 years ago!!!
Love your posts and weekly blog!

  5. Susan says

I’m a fox too. That centerpiece is gorgeous! I’m contemplating my first pair of faux leather pants – wondering if there’s any special care you have to take while wearing them. How well do they wear? Do you need to be cautious when sitting? Love your style. Happy Thanksgiving!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Susan

I have to delve into the analysis more! Faux leather is completely care free. I have several pairs.

  6. Janet Arden says

Hi Cindy — I’m a fox too. Now to figure out what that means. Great shopping choices — I think I need one of everything from Zaras. Happy Thanksgiving!

  7. Joanna says

I took the quiz and found out I’m a Dolphin – relaxed & playful. I like dolphins so I’m ok with that. I’ll see in the email to be sent out how or where I can improve on my lifestyle to live a long and active life. Thanks for the link!

I’m not a fan of green beans but have tried some new to me Brussels sprout recipes that are delish.

  8. Ann says

Well, a fox here too! Just read your Cuba Libre post, several years ago, we spent a day off a cruise ship in Havana, Politically they are as divided as here.
Recently I saw a pair of ripped jeans, as in your post, in a thrift shop, when I went back to buy them, they had been sold. I’m not sure if I would have had the courage to wear them on this soon to be 79 year old body. The winter cream outfit is lovely but probably wouldn’t wear it either. How did I get to that mysterious age and having a conversation online with strangers?

As for those lovely scarves, I paint designs on silk scarves. A scarf is simply the easiest way to change the look of an outfit, easy to pack, something to pass on to the next generation.

My favorite Thanksgiving dish to be shared among our family of 25 is broccoli saled, however I’m following the FodMap diet. Bummer,

  9. Dianne says

I’m an owl! and I love Zara! I just bought a beautiful faux suede coat for $69.00. It is lovely and the perfect weight for California. Love Zara!
The veggie recipes look yummy and I am ready to start planning the Thanksgiving preparations tomorrow!
p.s. a fox is awesome! a silver fox, for sure
    Happy Sunday!

  10. Bonita Gillespie says

    Hi Cindy
I too am a fox… not sure what it all means. I’d like to read more up on it. What are the other animals.
