Stylish Comfortable Boots Your Feet Will Love

Today Jennifer from a Well Styled Life and I are so happy to be joined by Jan from Silver is the New Blonde to talk about boots for women over 50. After the age of 50, many of us have foot-related issues, plantar fasciitis, bunions, and or tendinitis to name a few. Let’s not belabor that issue let’s talk about Stylish Comfortable Boots your Feet Will Love. It rained both days I had available to photograph so some of the interior pictures were taken in artificial light and not very good. I apologize for that.

Stylish Comfortable Boots Your Feet Will Love

I like to be stylish, but I am not willing at my age to sacrifice comfort for style. I do have a bunion which has diminished my boot options. I can’t wear anything with a pointed toe, and the toe box of the boot has to accommodate the bunion, or I will be miserable all day. That being said, here are my favorite boots that are both comfortable and stylish.

FAVORITE BOOTIES

GENTLE SOULS EMMA DECONSTRUCTED ANKLE BOOTIE

You have seen me wearing these a lot this year. They are new to me and I can’t tell you how comfy they are. They have the trademark multi-layered cushioning system for all-day comfort. They have a sleek look but a wide-toe box. The leather is soft and supple and soft. The first time I put them on, I wore them the entire day.

This is the beautiful Johnny Was/Biya Jora Duster that so many of you have purchased. I have gotten so many compliments every time I wear it. It is definitely a favorite. Styling it with my favorite turtleneck from Sundance and faux suede leggings.

Here I am wearing another Johnny Was sweater that is no longer available. I found a couple on Ebay. They are linked at the bottom of the picture.

My long-time favorite bootie the Scuba Bootie from Seychelles has seen better days, so I ordered the brown suede pair of the Emma as well. Here I am wearing them with that fabulous J Jill sweater that you all love (me too) old jeans, and a tolani ikat scarf you can find here.

FAVORITE KNEE HIGH BOOTS

BED STU MANCHESTER

I have had these boots for probably five years. Somehow in the move, they disappeared along with the other four pairs of boots I owned. I finally broke down and bought another pair. The toe box is a comfortable width. I also love the fact that there are laces in the back so you can adjust the fit on the calf. If you are looking for a super cushiony boot these are not it. I put gel insoles in mine and I can wear them all day in comfort.

I Am wearing my Manchester boots here with a very old Gro A Abrahamson vest (I linked similar below pic) the Chicos no iron tunic shirt, a vintage rhinestone pin, and the Spanx faux leather leggings.

Here I am wearing a black cashmere sweater from Free People (similar Eileen Fisher linked below), and velvet leggings with the bed stu boots. Turquoise jewelry from my collection but similar linked below.

These Emma boots are a soft faux suede. They have plenty of room in the toe box. The super comfy sole has the Gentle Souls trademark multi-layered cushioning system for all-day comfort. These boots are new to me this year and I absolutely love them.

I am wearing the Emma boots with a quilted BB Dakota coat, Banana Turtleneck and faux suede leggings from Saks Off Fifth.

COMBAT STYLE BOOTS

This boot is always controversial. We either love them or hate them. I searched long and hard before I found this pair (on Ebay) the Stuart Weitzman McKenzie. I have linked similar options at the bottom of the post. These boots have a wide toe box and are super comfy. I know they are not for everyone, but I love mine.

I am styling my combat boots with this great pink martini sweater coat (this brand is new to me) that I purchased at Haley B in Paso. I loved this gray green color. You can find it online at the Pink Martini Collection here as well. I am wearing it with the same black turtleneck from Banana that I have linked above.

This look is from my post Under the Radar Ways to Style a Blazer. The scarf is from IBU Movement which many of you asked about. They have a very nearly identical scarf available on their website here. It is one of my favorite items in my closet. All of the other items are linked below the picture

Do you have some in your wardrobe that are comfortable and stylish? If so please share. We would love to hear about it.

I just grabbed a pair of the cognac color Gentle Souls at 50% discount and I love them! So excited to wear them today 🙂 Yay!

      Hi Dianne

Whoopee! Don’t you love a bargain! I wear mine all the time even without socks they are comfy!

    Hi Cindy,
I love over-the-knee boots. Are they comfortable? I really like the look but always wonder if when you sit down if they are uncomfortable. You are my favorite stylist. I get great ideas and inspiration for creating outfits from your posts.

      Hi Karen

The Emma is not over the knee but knee high. I don’t know about over the knee. I would be afraid they would constantly be falling down!

  3. Deanne says

Especially love the final look with wide leg navy pants and looks like black blazer, which is available for a song now. Might have to go on a frolic to check that out in a local store! Fun post

  4. Teresa says

I love all of these boots I am definitely going to check them out! I have also have terrible bunions on both feet now and it is so painful. Just thinking about trying on shoes make my feet hurt! Thank you so much for this post!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Teresa

Both of those Gentle Souls styles feel like butter on the foot. You won’t be disappointed!

  5. Susan says

Cindy – why don’t you have your bunion fixed? The surgery is very routine – with very good results in most cases – definitely worth it…! A podiatrist is the best person to evaluate your bunion telling you what can be done to correct for function and to reduce pain. I highly recommend as I have had both feet corrected. I can’t exactly wear spike heels, but I’m able to stand at my job for 8 to 10 hours with pretty much shoes of my choice.
    Best regards …

Just have to ask, why not just have a bunionectomy and be done? I have had 2 – greatest thing I could have done. Both were easy, fast recuperation, and I can wear just about any shoes I want to, unless ultra-high heel. I can’t imagine always worrying about something that is so easy to take care of. Seems like living with a paint color a person dislikes – just paint the darned room. If bunions are causing issues, get them fixed. They only get worse with time.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Beth

So interesting to hear you say that. Actually, our podiatrist said do not do them until you absolutely have to. I am glad to hear you had such good luck. I have definitely heard mixed reviews. How long were you off your feet? I am not a very good patient!

  9. Debbie says

I recently heard that alot of the merchandise stolen from those smash and grab robberies that are happening all over the nation end up on Ebay. Since I don’t have alot of experience with Ebay I wondered if there is a way to buy safely so you are not purchasing stolen goods?

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Debbie

I am sure that is the case. I would never buy from a seller who has bad reviews or no reviews. I have been buying on Ebay for years and have only had one problem that I can remember and that was years ago.

  10. Diane Ruebel says

Merry holidays from another bunion cursed woman way “over 50”,

How do the Emma ankle booties run size wise? I’m a 6.5 and would like to follow your lead, so please advise.

Enjoy precious moments with your sweet Summer.

    Diney from Camano Island

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Diney

Jennifer says she sizes down in Gentle Souls, but I have not found that to be the case. I currently have three pairs and they are absolutely the most comfortable boots I have ever owned.

  11. Lisa says

Love every single thing! One question, is your J. Jill sweater the scarlet color? Yours looks to be more of a plum shade, and I wanted to make sure the scarlet would go with the scarf you feature. Thanks!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lisa

My J Jill is the plum and it currently is sold out. I do own the gray and the khaki green. The gray is almost ivory. The colors are very true on the website from what I have seen. That sweater is a winner in my book. Soft, comfy and washes beautifully in the washer in cold water.

  12. Laura says

Oh, man! That vest that you’re wearing with the Chico’s white tunic? It is fantastic! I might strip it off you should I see you on the street. Not really, but it is so cool! Still trying to decide if I should get some combat style boots….

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Laura

If I spot one on Ebay I will link it. I think I am going to a weekly find list. I am thinking about changes for next year on the blog.

  13. Rosemarie says

    Hi there

Nice outfits and so many boots! All very stylish!

Me – I have only 1 (one) yes only 1 pair of boots! I wear them when it’s really cold or wet. I think it’s time I went shopping!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Rosemarie

I find boots to be so comfortable so I am happy to wear them. Good luck finding a pair you love!

  14. Sarah says

  16. Jennifer says

Comfy is critical in footwear for me too. I’ve had one bunion done and want to avoid needing to do the other. You look amazing in all of these outfits. Just smashing! This was fun. Merry Christmas!

  17. Holly says

What a perfect post! I had no idea what to wear today and you helped solve it! 👑
Bonus . . . got a couple of peeks at your kitchen! Happy Tuesday!!!
