Do you Love Charlotte Moss’s Collected Layered Style

It’s Sunday so I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday faves. This week my faves are all about the uber-talented Charlotte Moss. I adore her gardens, her designs, and her signature personal style. She is known for her timeless, layered interiors, her philanthropy, and her flawless personal style. Let’s take a look at Do you Love Charlotte Moss’s Collected Layered Style.

CHARLOTTE MOSS’S EAST HAMPTON HOME AND GARDENS

I am completely smitten with Charlotte’s gorgeous East Hampton Home and Gardens. Anytime I spot a picture of her garden I am mesmerized.

You can see more of Charlotte’s gardens in her still current book Garden Inspirations.

My friend Elizabeth (aka the Vintage Contessa) gave me her latest book Home a Celebration. In this book, she invites many of her notable friends to share what home means to them. Most importantly, all profits from the sales of Home: A Celebration will be donated to No Kid Hungry. This is one of those books that just gets better with every peek.

1010 PARK PLACE INTERVIEW WITH CHARLOTTE MOSS

What a delight to see that my pal Brenda from 1010 Park Place scored an interview with the fabulous Charlotte Moss. Brenda is a great interviewer. You don’t want to miss this one.

I think you will also enjoy this post from New York Cottages and Gardens about her history as a designer. FYI don’t you love her outfit? Gorgeous red skirt with a wide belt and a crisp white shirt.

She is also an ambassador and design collaborator with IBU Movement whom I love for how they support women across the globe and Susan’s impeccable eye.. You can find her collaboration with ibu here. Here she is with Susan in her garden. Don’t these ladies have style? You might enjoy my interview with Susan for Ageless Style here.

OUTFIT OF THE WEEK (HOPEFULLY CHARLOTTE APPROVED)

The outfit of the week this week is a mix of high and low. The Etsy Kantha Jacket is super reasonable, as well as the linen shirt from H&M. The jeans, earrings, and tote are from Madewell. The hat (not so reasonable but lovely) from Janessa Leone. The mules are also from Etsy. All items are linked below the graphic. FYI pretty sure Charlotte does not wear jeans. If Charlotte were wearing this she would probably have a crisp white shirt and lovely wide-leg pants.

There are so many wonderful articles about Charlotte Moss that I went down a rabbit hole and took you with me. I promise next week I will be back with a quick read. Hi Eliz

I just love that book. It is so fun to pick up on occasion and grab a tidbit here and there. Yes Brenda’s interview was wonderful!

  3. Janet Arden says

Good morning Cindy — Thank you for this deep dive on Charlotte Mass. I cant get enough of her personal style as well as her decorative style. And she makes it seem so effortless, even when we know it’s not!
Like you we are in the midst of a move from Chicago to Ohio to mer closer to our grandsons. Our house sold overnight and most of our life is in storage while we wait for a house to be finished in another month or so. My son owns the rental and we only expect to be here a max of about 6 or 7 weeks, but what an adventure!
Have a great week and thanks for your Sunday favorites!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Janet

We will have been here in this rental just one year when we move. So much we have was never unpacked. We are trying to “pitch” more rather than move it again. Charlotte is just wonderful isn’t she? Not many have the ability to design a beautiful home, a wonderful garden and have such fabulous personal style. She has it all.

  4. Annie Diamond says

Charlotte Moss did a book signing when I worked at Serena & Lily! Her assistant contacted me later and asked for photos since as you can imagine, I had my camera out the whole time! It was a fun night!
LOVE your outfit of the week! So beachy!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Annie

I have heard from several people that she is very engaging and kind. I bet you did take a few pics!!

  5. Mary Ann Pickett says

Charlotte looks so fab in the white shirt and red skirt. This makes me want more red in my life!

  6. 1010ParkPlace says

Hi Cindy, Thanks for the mention about my interview with Charlotte. Interesting how it came about. I’ll give you the details the next time we talk. I hope your move is an easy transition. xoxox, Brenda

  7. Paula Bailey says

As an adherent of the crisp white shirt as a “foundation” garment, that beach picture was my introduction to Charlotte Moss. She is my ultimate style icon. Enjoyed the post!

  8. Karen B. says

    Cindy,
I have always loved Charlotte Moss. I bought one of her early books back in 1991 “Passion for Detail”. Her style is so original and beautiful, and it is fun perusing her books for inspiration and ideas. She always looks amazing. Thanks for the links, I will enjoy visiting the interviews and more about the amazing Charlotte Moss.
I hope your move goes well. Having just done one in December I see the good and the not-so-fun parts of it but am happy to have been forced to go through things and pare down to items I love and use.
    Happy Sunday,
    Karen B.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Karen

That book is a good one, isn’t it? Mine is packed away. I love the latest that Elizabeth gifted me. We have so many boxes that were never unpacked, so it won’t be nearly the ordeal we had last time. We have taken all we can to the new garage until the former owners move.Today we will pack up my office and what little we can box up here without making the house look like a disaster.

  9. Wendy says

I had knee replacement surgery two weeks ago and that infamous Target dress has been my go to since I can get pants on yet. Glad I bought both colors way back when😉

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Wendy

How are you doing with your new knee? I have heard that the recovery is much faster now. I am anxious to hear. Since I have two bionic hips, I wouldn’t be surprised if a knee will be in my future.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Marilyn

Thank you. I fixed the link. I emailed it to you. It should be working here now as well.
