Lodge Style Decor, Marry Me Chicken Dip, and Cozy Outfits of the Week
Does the first cold snap make you want to pile on the throws, light a fire, and live like you’re tucked away in a mountain lodge (even if you don’t leave your own living room?). Lodge style is having a real moment, and I’m here for it. Forget the dusty antlers and wall-to-wall knotty pine. Today’s version is all about warmth and character: worn leather, leafy florals, tribal rugs, plaid used with a light hand, and plenty of layered pattern and texture. It’s cozy without being kitschy, and it’s surprisingly easy to bring home. Some of the best examples I’ve seen are the lodges Twelve Interiors designed for Eleven Experience, which take their cues from each location and then layer on color and pattern with abandon. More on those in a minute, but first, grab a cup of piping hot coffee.
Twelve Interiors Lodge Style
If you think lodge style means antler chandeliers and a sea of brown plaid, Twelve Interiors will happily prove you wrong. The Jacksonville-based firm has designed a collection of remote lodges for the adventure travel brand Eleven Experience, and its projects range from Icelandic ski lodges to Bahamian inns. What I love is that they never drop the same look into every location. They take their cues from the local architecture and cultural aesthetic of each place, then work their magic with a confident layering of color, pattern, and texture. You can follow them on Instagram here.

You can also learn more about their travel destinations where their “lodges are private gateways to remote, pristine locations around the globe. Every day is tailored to you, with custom itineraries, expert guides, and unmatched attention to detail. From first light to fireside, the difference between remarkable and exceptional is Eleven”. Mary Me Chicken Dip

I am taking this warm, cheesy dip loaded with chicken and sun-dried tomatoes, the Marry Me Chicken Dip (adapted from Food & Wine) to a Halloween party tonight. It is my new favorite fireside appetizer, and it disappears the minute it comes out of the oven. Add a little more half and half if it seems a little dry.
Marry Me Chicken Dip (adapted from Food & Wine)
Ingredients
- 8-ounce jar oil-packed sun-dried tomatoes, drained, patted dry, and chopped, plus 1 teaspoon oil from jar
- 3 garlic cloves finely chopped (about 1 tablespoon)
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme, sage & oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
- 8 ounces low fat cream cheese at room temperature, cut into small cubes
- 1 5.2-ounce package garlic-and-herb spreadable cheese (such as Boursin)
- 1 cup half and half
- 2 ounces Parmesan cheese finely grated (about 1/2 cup), divided
- 3 cups about 12 ounces shredded rotisserie chicken
- 4 ounces whole-milk low-moisture mozzarella cheese shredded (about 1 cup), divided
- 4 ounces white cheddar cheese shredded (about 1 cup), divided
- Fresh basil leaves
- Toasted baguette slices for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F with 1 oven rack in middle position and a second rack about 6 inches from heat source.
- Heat sun-dried tomato oil in a 10-inch cast-iron skillet over medium. Add sun-dried tomatoes; cook, stirring often, until softened, about 1 minute. Add garlic, thyme, crushed red pepper, pepper, and salt; cook, stirring constantly, until garlic is softened and fragrant, about 30 seconds. Remove from heat and let cool slightly, about 2 minutes.
- Stir cream cheese, Boursin, and half and half into sun-dried tomato mixture until well combined and smooth. Stir in 1/4 cup Parmesan. Fold in chicken, 1/2 cup mozzarella, and 1/2 cup cheddar until evenly combined. Spread dip into an even layer. Sprinkle evenly with remaining 1/2 cup mozzarella, 1/2 cup cheddar, and 1/4 cup Parmesan.
- Bake on middle rack until cheese is melted and edges are bubbling, 18 to 20 minutes. Increase oven temperature to broil. Transfer skillet to upper rack; broil until cheese is golden brown in spots, about 1 minute. Garnish with basil, and serve warm with toasted baguette slices.
Lodge Style Outfits of the Week
This outfit is a mix of items from Ann Taylor, Chicos, Tuckernuck and

This Luxe for Less After Ski Look has items from Zara, Uniglo, and Sorel (I never feature “cheap” shoes because most of us cannot wear them at this age.

This After Ski Outfit has all my favorite greens from Varley. The jacket is reversible, so you do get two for the price of one!

This casual dinner by the fire look is a mix of high and low. Most of the Fair Isle sweaters I have seen remind me too much of my childhood. This beauty has a vintage look but is pricey. Sub in an option from Lands End., and you have the look for less.

This look is filled with items currently on sale at Ann Taylor

Legends of the Fall
If you need a little lodge style inspiration (and an excuse to curl up on the couch), queue up Legends of the Fall. I know you have already seen it. I keep coming back for the scenery, the acting, and the setting: (it won the Oscar for cinematography, and you can see why). It’s lodge style at its most romantic, and the perfect film for a chilly night with a throw and a glass of red.
Fall Color from my Home Town in Indiana
Every year my lifelong friend Janie sends me beautiful fall color pictures from her home on the lake.

The last photo is of the street I walked growing up to school. Th trees were much smaller back in the late 60’s!!
Whether you’re dreaming of a snowy lodge in the mountains or just pulling a throw over your knees at home, I hope this week’s finds inspire you to cozy up and savor the season. There’s something about fall that invites us to slow down, gather the people we love, and make our homes a little warmer (a skillet of dip and a good movie certainly help). I’d love to hear how you’re bringing lodge style into your own home this year, so please share in the comments, and if you know a friend who’d enjoy this post, pass it along. And don’t forget to pop over and see what Mary Ann and Annie are sharing this week. Have a wonderful Sunday!

I, however CANNOT watch Legends of the Falls. It is too sad. So sad.
Going to pin the recipe. That sweater dress is cute and on sale.!
I love that faux fur bucket hat! Your outfits are always so cool looking.
Cindy,
Thanks for recommending East of Eden on Netflix, very well done. I read the John Steinbeck book many years ago after visiting his museum in Salinas.
That dip looks yummy, I will be making it soon.
Good morning from a very rainy Valley of the Sun, Arizona! Can’t wait to try the dip while watching Legends of the Fall! My goodness, I haven’t seen it in ages! Thanks for the reminder.
Sending you the best on this first day of November, the Gratitude Month.
