Chic Spring Travel Capsule for Women Over 50 & More

Happy Sunday! I am joining my pals Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday faves. Are you planning any Spring travel? Are you hoping to pack your spring travel capsule wardrobe in one suitcase? Remember comfort is key. Let’s chat about a chic Spring travel capsule for women over 50 and more favorites.

Chic Spring Travel Capsule for Women Over 50 & More

Shop your closet first for inspiration. A great travel wardrobe consists of versatile pieces, in a cohesive color palette that reflect your personal style. This time of year europe, or almost any other destination can be very unpredictable weather wise, plan for layering. For your travel outfits, count on essentials for different looks that can be worn multiple ways. Opting for neutrals as a base keeps your outfits simple. Pack a button-down shirt or two, a couple of t-shirts, sneakers, a pair of shoes that are comfortable, boots (if necessary), a couple pairs of trousers (pants), a versatile midi skirt, a lightweight dress that you can dress up or down a couple pair of jeans, a blazer (if you will wear one), possibly a trench coat and a scarf or two, and a tote bag. Ditch the heels, and keep your jewelry to a minimum unless you are going on a formal cruise.

Nancy Lane’s Tips for a Fresh Start to the New Year

My friend Nancy Lane is a wonderful designer. She is sharing her decluttering tips for a fresh start to the new year here.

Beet Salad with Blood Oranges & Goat Cheese

I love a great beet salad. I made mine with a mix of baby greens, beets, red onion, blood oranges, oranges, pine nuts and goat cheese. I usually wing it when it comes to salads but the little leaf farms recipe is very similar to mine.

Beet Salad with Blood Oranges & Goat Cheese

Patricia Wells Penne

I am a big fan of Patricia Wells and this penne with artichokes, olives, capers and fresh mozarella is simple and delicious. We had friends over for dinner and served this with the beet salad and crusty bread from Bread Bike available at our wonderful Etto Pastificio. The fresh pasta is also from Etto.

Pop Up at Hayley & Co

My friend Kelsey who owns the wonderful Ernest and Grace in Atascadero has joined forces with Hayley and Co and has some of her nicer things in Hayley & Co. I will be at Hayley & Co on Sunday the 16th for a pop up from 1-3, a portion of the proceeds will benefit the fire victims. I will be bringing clothes and accessories that are barely worn or never worn from some of your favorite designers and some wonderful home goods as well. I would love to meet you if you are local! Come by for some sips and bites!

That’s it from my desk this week. If you would like to catch up on my Sunday favorites you can do so here. Thanks for reading Chic Spring Travel Capsule for Women Over 50 & More. Now let’s pop over and visit Mary Ann and Annie for their favorites!

    1. Hi Karlie

I am so looking forward to meeting all of my local readers!! My friend Kelsey has some wonderful things in her shop as well!

  2. Hi Sue, and Cindy,
Thank you both for taking the time to explain what is happening. I understand pretty much how it works the “comment moderation” and Cindy I remember several unkind things posted about one maybe two guests. It’s too bad because there is no place for this on your WONDERFUL always positive uplifting blog. I was just hoping this was not happening because of me. I was raised and believe in kindness each and everyday.

    1. Hi Katherine

Thank you so much for your kind words. Often those who make unkind comments to others are not regular commentors. They are “trolls” that scour blogs to make unkind comments and stir up trouble. We have a lovely community of like minded women here. I don’t mind when someone says something unkind to me, but when it is a guest, that is quite a different thing. Anyone I interview, has taken time out of their busy lives to share their insight with us. There is no place for “snarky” comments when it comes to guests.

  3. Don’t you just love camel and red together? That’s me for our winter, I think.
Lovely post, Cindy. Great combos and well done on a charity pop-up. I just wish I was able to shop your caste-offs, I know there would be things I’d love and even happier to know that funds raised would go to a good cause.

  4. So love your posts! You’re a positive force out there, please don’t let the negative people deter you! The rest of us (and there’s a lot) look forward to them and get SO much out of them.❤️

    1. Hi Gayle
Thank you so much, Gayle. I do my best to stay informed while avoiding unnecessary negativity—we already have enough of that in our lives. My goal is for this blog to be a welcoming space where like-minded women can freely share their ideas, no matter who they are.

  5. I want to also thank you for not posting political posts. Your posts are light & refreshing!

    1. Thank you, Carol. I receive criticism often, but I know that’s not why you’re here. This space is about sharing our love for fashion, interiors, gardens, entertaining, cooking and positive aging.

  6. I was one of the posts that was there, as I thought , and then pfft !… it was gone.
I referred to several parts of your interview … and how your lovely description about what aging isn’t and is… and how it resonated with me. Just a technical glitch I guess. Oh well.

    1. I am so sorry Cath. My hosting company is having some caching issues. I am hoping they get it resolved soon. I so appreciate every one of your comments.

  7. Great outfit ideas and tips for spring travel! I’ll be trying the recipes – especially the salads (oven not working since early December (ugh). Sorry to hear there are unkind comments. I am very appreciative that your content stays on topic and you avoid the (political) discord that is found almost everywhere. Your guests are interesting, vibrant and fun.

    1. Thank you so much Barb. I remember growing up discussing other political views at the dinner table and listening to each other and learning, I am afraid those days are gone. I want this blog to be a welcoming space where like-minded women can freely share their ideas about aging, and all the other topics we enjoy.

  8. Love your posts Cindy! Look forward to them every week as your style definitely speaks to me. I’m especially happy that there is no political commentary. I’ve stopped following another CA lady who just couldn’t keep politics out of her once were great posts.

    1. Hi Sheila

Thank you. I made a decision not to go there and I receive criticism from both camps. It was my choice and I stand by it.

  9. Great post today!! As usual!! Lots to investigate and drool over.
I’m so sorry that there are any unkind comments. Sadly, people have become very mean. Let’s always take the higher, kinder road.

  10. Ah, I love the Shorty Love bags and have a couple already. The bucket bag you show is really interesting as well and I may have to get. They are such good quality. Also the Collette cards are amazing and I bought two!

    Love the post as always!
    Cheers from Ojai!

    1. Thanks for the great read Cindy, we appreciate your hard work and all the research for the blog! So many great travel outfits, and the recipes! Love the denim shirt from J. Crew – I need to buy one.

      1. Hi Cheryl

I love my well worn chambray & denim shirts!! I think the one on the factory site is great.

  11. Love the wardrobe mix however I can’t find the bandanna scarf link And the Zara link to the skirt does not work just brings you to the main site with no info.
Will be trying that beet salad soon!
    Thanks Cindy!

    1. Hi Mary Fran

I emailed you and have now fixed the links. I am having some caching issues with my host. Hopefully they will figure it out soon

  12. Hi Cindy,
When I respond to your posts, they appear and then they disappear. I wonder why that happens??? It’s strange. I try to respond to most of your posts.

    1. Hi Katherine, I’ve noticed the same when I post.
My understanding ….It first shows up in your feed, is then put on hold until it’s “reviewed”, and then posted.

      1. Hi Suz

You are correct to a point. I had to enable comment moderation due to unkind comments about my guests, and political commentary unfortunately.

    2. Hi Katherine

I do have comment moderation now, but yours should not need moderation because you are a regular!! I am not sure why it happens only on occasion. I do check my spam folder regularly.

  13. I love all of your posts especially the seasonal picks. We ladies over 80 seem to get overlooked. Maybe a gray hair post with stylish designs with some fit???
    Thanks

  14. Love your outfit of the week! Red, olive and khaki… great color combination.
    That beet salad looks amazing!
