I am joining Mary Ann and Annie for our Sunday Faves. This week let’s chat about a A Beautiful Beach House, a Great Beach Read, Beach Fashion & More.

A Beautiful Beach House, a Great Beach Read, Beach Fashion & More

SERENA AND LILY BEACH HOUSE

Serena and Lily partnered with luxury brand Pacaso and created a stunning coastal beach house in beautiful Rosemary Beach Florida. We visited Rosemary Beach a couple years ago, and I can’t imagine a more natural pairing. All the shares are sold but if you enjoy the beach life, and want to get on the wait list or view the entire home, you can visit Pacaso’s website here. Serena and Lily is having their Spring Design Event. If you are looking for beach decor items many are on sale.

This courtyard space is dreamy isn’t it? I have been tempted to add a couple of these swings to our outdoor space for Summer.

Love the dining area fixture. It’s large but doesn’t command too much visual space.

BEACH READ-ROTTENKID-BRIGIT BINNS

Local author Brigit Binns, well known for authoring or co-authoring over 30 cookbooks, (eleven for Williams Sonoma) and I sat down last week and talked about her new book Rottenkid. On the surface Brigit appears to have lead a charmed life. She grew up in Hollywood, with a well known actor father and an extremely bright but narcissistic mother. It wasn’t Hollywood perfection. Young Brigit was sent off to boarding school to alleviate their problems. In her coming of age memoir Brigit takes us on an emotional exploration of her childhood. Marked by struggles and resilience, she navigates a tumultuous family dynamic including her mother’s long term affair with a California governor. She eventually finds comfort in the kitchen and her travels, allowing her to blossom and thrive. I could not put this book down, and my guess is neither will you.

Rottenkid is published by Sibylline Press, ,who publishes exclusively the “brilliant work of women over 50″( how fun is that?) You can purchase Rottenkid on Amazon here, or at your local book store. You can check out Brigit’s website here.

If you are traveling to the Paso Wine Country Brigit and her husband Casey own a beautiful airbnb /retreat aptly named Refugio. You can see it in more detail in this youtube video.

Outfit of the Week

I have had so many requests about wedding guest attire, so here you go. I don’t normally wear much pattern but this dress from Boden had me at hello! If you are heading to the beach and are in need or a little beach fashion, this dress from Boden is new and just popped up. I love this one too. Love the block print and the pretty color combo. I added a simple clutch from Etsy, comfortable Naturalizer shoes, and a fun pair of ridiculously cheap earrings. This dress could be beach wardrobe friendly by changing out the belt for a woven jute or raffia, a straw bag and sandals. I also love this pretty shirtdress from Boden. Their dresses tend to sell out because they aren’t as ridiculously expensive as some of the other brands. They are offering 15% off new styles here.

MY FAVORITES FROM THE SALE

SIMPLE EVERYDAY PASTA

You can make this pasta from pantry staples. It is so simple it is ridiculous. I picked up fresh linguine from our local pasta shop Etto Pastifico. Heat one T olive oil in skillet with one shallot and 2 cloves garlic. Add 1 package trader joes italian sausage, l large can & 1 small can eden glen fire roasted tomatoes, 1/8 c white wine, dash red pepper flakes, 1 bunch fresh basil chopped, and one yellow pepper chopped. The sausage is pre cooked so this can be prepared in minutes.

I’m blessed to enjoy Rosemary Beach every day—it’s so cool to see it through another’s eyes! The home you featured was completely renovated a couple of years ago before the Serena and Lilly refresh—it’s a totally different house!

      Hi Miriam

We almost bought a place there a few years ago! You are lucky to live in such a fabulous place!

  2. Martha Foss says

I love the Boden dress!! and those earrings would look great with it!! Rosemary Beach is such a great place. I was there December 2022. I would love to go back in warmer weather.!!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Martha

We went to Rosemary Beach a few years ago and loved the area as well!!

  3. Jayne says

    Hi Cindy,

I love the Spring outfit of the week, the Boden Flo midi dress, and how you have styled it with accessories that pick up the red in the print. I wonder how it will look on me – being as usual older, curvier and shorter than the model on the website! Will you be modelling it for us one day soon? That would really help me make the decision whether to buy as I consider myself similar to you in age and proportions.

  4. Wren says

A swing for Summer, capital S! Wouldn’t she love that.
I know of Brigit Binns but have never met her. Will have to look for her book. I wonder if I’ll be back in time to get into trouble during the BR sale!? Have you left for the south yet? I hope you and Jeff have a great get-away and let’s get together when you’re back.

  5. Heidi says

    Hi Cindy,
That swing on the porch – oh my! And that pasta recipe sounds so good. I usually just throw things together and this sounds like that kind of a dish. Yum!
I always love your fashion finds. I look forward to wearing spring clothing again soon!

      Hi Heidi

I hope you are feeling better! I am looking forward to dressing for Spring as well!

  6. Marie says

Cindy – always enjoy your Sunday post with my coffee! BR boxes will be arriving at my doorstep soon 🙂 Thanks for the tip!
On another topic, it’s time to start thinking about storing my sweaters for summer. What do you (or readers) find to be effective for reliable moth prevention? Thanks for your thoughts!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Marie

Good topic! I will investigate and report back! I know plastic is not good for sweaters. I need to be thinking about the same. I know for cashmere it needs to be something breathable. Maybe someone will pipe in!!

  7. Juliet says

Beach houses, books, pretty dresses and pasta … all life’s essentials! Oh my gosh … that beach house. Rosemary is on my list and I need to make it happen soon. Happy Sunday! xo

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Juliet

You are the queen of pretty dresses! You look fabulous in dresses!

  8. Mary Ann Pickett says

I really want to read that book! A swing bench or two would be fun in your outside space. That pasta looks yummy!

  9. Annie Diamond says

I love a beach themed post! The Serena & Lily house is so pretty!! Those swings would look great in your courtyard!
The pasta looks yummy! I remember that pasta shop!
