J Crew & Madewell Over 50 Fashion Favorites

Do you tend to wear the same colors over and over?  Black, camel and gray are my go toos in the winter. I bought a couple of sweaters at J Crew and Madewell before Christmas that I love.  I was leafing through J Crew (I love their sweaters) looking for some of my favorites on sale.  I kept noticing cerise.  Cerise is a good red for me because it has enough blue in it to compliment the gray hair.  I have put together some of my J Crew & Madewell Over 50 Fashion Favorites and added cerise to the mix.  What do you think?  Care to venture out of your color comfort zone with me?

I own the Madewell jeans (not usually an “aged” jean fan), but I really like the fit of the 9″ high rise skinny crop.  They fit me perfect. I purchased the J Crew Turtleneck sweater high low with side slits and I LOVE it. I want to order the camel and the cerise, currently not on sale but at $69.99 they are a good price. I own the leopard scarf from Sole Society.  Fun and inexpensive. The J Crew Perfect Shirt is a favorite.  I am going to order the cerise. The beautiful cashmere wrap is not on sale (yet) but I am sure it will.  It’s a classic. I own the leopard perfect shirt and wear it all the time. I LOVE the Seychelles scuba bootie (a stylish bootie that is also comfy)  They are cut wide enough to accommodate the dreaded bunion but fit snugly around the ankle a win-win.  I own the J Crew vest in several colors and live in them (sorry as of today sold out in red).  I would not normally spend the $$ for a pair of red shoes but these J Crew Smoking slippers are on sale! Above the beautiful cashmere wrap in camel. My favorite J Crew Sweater in melted caramel ordering today! Chambray shirt I already own, the Demylee leopard sweater blazer is not on sale but I will be all over it when it does go on sale. Cerise cashmere gloves and scarf on sale. I own the j crew tortoise hoops (super cheap and I love them!) The pretty horn bangle group would look nice with the hoops.  I already own my own group. Lastly, you can’t go wrong with a j crew leopard belt if you don’t already own one! J crew leopard ballet flats a classic!  All items linked below

The additions in this group are the Demylee Boxy Sweater from J Crew.  I bought this sweater on sale in black and I love it.  It is really boxy and heavy (pricey not on sale) so it may not be for everyone.  I would love to get it in camel when it goes back on sale. It is beautifully made. The Zara scarf could not be linked you can find it here. The cute sweater blazer from J Crew can be purchased in the blazer style (great for petites) or the longer style. I love the Belmont Sweater from Madewell.  It was sold out all through Christmas back in stock on sale in more colors.  I am ordering in golden harvest shown above.  Lastly, I am a big fan of the Madewell bandanas (I have way too many).  They are inexpensive and add a little punch to a button down shirt.  All items linked in widget below.

Here is a picture of my pal Mary Ann in the Sophie Sweater (she is very petite).  Doesn’t she look adorable? You might want to check out her post as well, she has some great party ideas.

Thank you for sharing, I love your style ! I ordered the hoop earrings and the Sophie sweater blazer that Mary Anne shared. Both 25% off. I get so much inspiration from you both.

Hi Jackie! I love those earrings. I wear them all the time. In fact I need to order a new pair because I lost one of them! I am so glad you liked Mary Ann’s jacket. It looks fabulous on her doesn’t it?!!

Thanks for including me, cutie! My leopard print purse is from J. Crew as well (love it). I have NO red in my closet and I need to reconsider it! Love how helpful these posts are, Cindy!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

Yes I should have remembered the leopard purse! Darn! That jacket looks so darling on you.

I’m a big fan of red. I find it to be a power color, a confidence color and a happy one. Buy the red shoes! You will not regret it. They’ll add a little something-something to your outfits.
Camel is not a good color on me, as it matches my hair and skin too closely. I feel monochrome when wearing it. I just put two tops in the donate box today. If I’m wearing leopard I pair it with black. It seems to work better for my coloring.
I hope the surveys were helpful in going forward.

      Hi Joanna
Thank you so much for weighing in. Your thoughts are right on. The survey was super helpful. There were a few surprises but not many! Thanks so much for commenting. Your comments are what keep the discussion going!

Cindy, Love your style! Best part is I already have most of the pieces. The Madewell jeans do fit perfect an I purchased them because of a post you do before the holidays. The cerise and camel just seal the deal with the tortoise and leopard. Thanks for helping us put these polished looks together and the inspiration. I’m ordering the red shoes today.

      Hi Joanna
So happy you found a few pieces you like. I thought those shoes were really fun when on sale! My wardrobe could always use a punch of color!
