Be Inspired by Pro-Age Fashion Influencer Nancy Weiss

Today am joining my friend Brenda from 1010 Park Place for our monthly Ageless Style series. Each month we interview someone over 50 who catches our eye. This month I am pleased to interview my Instagram friend Nancy Weiss. I am not sure who followed who, but I was instantly taken with Nancy’s ebullient style and generous spirit. She is a transplanted Floridian former Midwesterner, mother of four and grandmother of nine. I think you will be inspired by pro-age fashion influencer Nancy Weiss. Let’s get to know her.

Ageless Style-Pro-age Enthusiast Nancy Weiss

Tell us a bit about your story along with what made you want to start blogging.

I have always loved fashion and trying new styles, and what better way to share that passion than through blogging? I want to encourage women that having fun with fashion doesn’t have to stop once we reach a certain age. Aging is a privilege, yet some women feel vulnerable growing old or feel that they are invisible. At some point, we all walked past a mirror and questioned our reflection. I aim to empower women in our age group to stop doubting their self-worth. True beauty begins from within, rooted with confidence, self-esteem, and dignity. Self-love begins with recognizing our positive qualities, and only then do wardrobe and makeup help to enhance our best selves.

A Two Drink Minimum began as a family joke, but it is the name of your now successful blog that you created with your daughter over five years ago. Tell us about your working relationship and what you love about collaborating with your daughter.

Let me first start by saying that it was my daughter Brittany’s idea to start the blog. I was intimidated at first, and she offered to help me with it. I have never been happier because collaborating together has evolved our relationship, and I cherish the time we spend together. I get to enjoy the joys of motherhood and the satisfaction of accomplishing something together.

Speaking of drinks, what’s your go-to at-home beverage and also your dining-out favorite?

Nancy Weiss and her husband

I seldom drink at home unless it’s a special celebration. When we dine out, I usually order vodka and soda with olives and a lemon twist.

Give us a snapshot of a normal day for you. Are you a night owl, an early riser, or both?

I’m a morning person; sometimes, I wake up early enough to see both the moon set and the sun rising. I begin my day with strong coffee, prayers, and reading my daily devotions. I’m very passionate about my faith, and it’s important to me to give thanks with each new day I’m blessed to wake up to.

You love all things makeup and skincare. Give us your top five must-haves for both categories!

Taking care of our skin is crucial. Our skin goes through various changes as we age, and using the right products can help us maintain its health and radiance.

● A gentle cleanser

● Moisturizer that will keep my skin hydrated

● Sunscreen

● Concealer

● Lipstick

Tell us about how you stay active and your favorite workouts.

I live in a condo with a nice gym. At least three times a week, I will spend 30 minutes on an elliptical machine and then do 15 minutes of weights. On other days, I walk at least 2-3 miles a day.

You have four grown children along with many grandchildren – what’s the best part about being a grandparent and what did you learn raising your own children that impacts your time with your grandbabies?

Being a grandparent allows me the opportunity to enjoy the innocence of childhood! When I was raising my own children, I was often very distracted and too busy with the demands of parenting. As a grandparent, there isn’t that stress that comes with raising children, so I can focus on the fun and, of course, spoiling them a little.

Blogging, travel, collaborations, socializing, entertaining – you do it all and make it look easy. How do you balance work/life and make it all work?

Faith, family, and friends come before work. I’ll blog and take photos for the first part of the day, then set aside the remainder of the day for personal enjoyment. While I do enjoy working, I’ve established boundaries to ensure that I don’t miss out on precious moments that I can cherish and hold dear. Aging has taught me to balance the demands of everyday life and, most importantly, to slow down. I come to realize and accept days when I can’t accomplish everything, and I’m comfortable with that.

How would you define your own personal style and how do you keep fashion fun?

Nancy Weiss in Naples Florida

I dress to inspire, not to impress. My personal style embraces a diverse range of fashion choices, and this is what keeps fashion exciting for me. I like wearing dresses and skirts and will often combine a luxury statement piece with more budget-friendly items. While I strongly support a woman’s right to wear whatever makes her feel comfortable, I also believe that maintaining our integrity is important. Our clothing choices not only reflect our style but also convey our moods and self-image.

You have a love for dresses in all seasons and Florida is perfect for dresses year-round. What’s your favorite way to style a dress for each of the following:

Two Drink Minimum-Nancy Weiss on the Beach
  • Date Night: I may have been born in a generation where slips were worn under clothing, but I have recently jumped on the slip-dress trend. Slip dresses have become versatile because of layering. Look for a slip dress that has movement with a slight taper, then layer on a blazer, oversized sweater, or an artsy patterned silk pashmina.
  • Outdoor Wedding: I would put thought into the fabric of my dress, as tropical wedding destinations can be balmy. My choice would be a lightweight, breezy dress with a flowing silhouette. Additionally, bring along an extra pair of shoes suitable for walking on grass, cobblestone, or sand, as you can always switch to strappy sandals later.
  • Girls Night: Girl’s nights are always fun, and your outfit should match the vibe! I would go with a bohemian-style floral midi dress with a pair of low booties. Long denim skirts are very on trend, too; pair a denim maxi with a cropped knit sweater and lug sole loafers.

What’s your can’t-live-without all-season accessory?

Nancy Weiss in Green Dress

I have a fondness for collecting cuffs, often acquiring them while traveling or at local art shows. On my last birthday, my children surprised me with a leather cuff from Spain! If you are seeking one item to wear endlessly, then I suggest a piece of jewelry with sentimental significance.

If you could give your younger self any words of advice, what would they be?

nancy-weiss-with-family

Once time passes, you can never have it back. Stay in the present moment, and don’t dwell on the future.

Share your words to live by.

● Live with a purpose and kindness.

● Be persistent.

● We do not need all that we own.

    Hi Ladies,
Thanks, Cindy for sharing an enjoyable read
into Nancy’s life. One is always curious, as I have followed Nancy since I started IG and love her feminine style.

Nancy, I found it interesting how you balance your days and have your priorities in order. True dedication to yourself and your family. 👏
With our Canadian weather cooling, your recent Chicago look, ie denim skirt, has got me thinking!!
    Thanks, Ladies!!

    Hi Cindy,
Another great interview! I do enjoy your introductions.
I have been a virtual friend of Nancy’s for several years.
She is as lovely, giving, and genuine as she appears in your interview. Her fashion style is not only feminine, Florida choices, but her mid-western looks are classic, casual, comfortable, and chic.

  3. Ann says

Nancy has found her feminine style, religion and fashion passion. None of which suit my life, other than enjoying fashion bloggers, and having grand children, great grandchildren we are not on the same track. However she has a wonderful smile full of sunshine.

Cindy your post are more relatable to me. Keep it up!

  4. Wren says

Although her style is much more flowy than my more tailored way of dressing, I can appreciate all of the looks she wears. She gives me the courage to say to heck with it and go sleeveless! My arms are toned but there is crepey skin that I can do nothing about and I have so many sleeveless things that I have hated to give up. Her words of wisdom seem close to what I expressed about staying present in the moment. She seems lovely, inside and out. Hello, Kathy, from one of Cindy’s formerAgeless Style women.

  5. La Contessa says

Love the pink and orange maxi dress!
Good thing it’s a two drink minimum as when I had heart surgery 13 years ago anything over TWO drinks wine etc one was considered an alcoholic!,
,I found that info a bit frightening as I always had at least TWO glasses of wine a night!Between prep and dinner!
I just googled it and now they say THREE for women!
The outcome is you get MORE MEDS PUMPED INTO YOUR SYSTEM THE MORE YOU DRINK.So we are gaining in some areas!,,Lovely interview.
I will check out her blog!

    • Karsten says

La Contessa, I worked in healthcare (direct patient care) for 30 years and your statement is not only inaccurate but downright alarming, Mixing medications and alcohol can be extremely dangerous. Don’t believe everything you read on Google

      • Elizabeth Kirkpatrick says

        You misunderstood me!
And as I reread it now it is confusing! when I went in for heart surgery they ask you how much alcohol you drink per day my answer was two glasses of wine between prepping dinner and having dinner at that time 13 years ago. the anesthesiologist informed me,I was considered an alcoholic, and that shocked me as the amount you drink depends on how much anesthesia they put into your body so my comment about we’re gaining means they’re allowing us one more drink before calling us an alcoholic and I totally respect you and your opinion but that was my experience in the hospital with heart surgery!!!!

  6. AJ says

Loved Nancy’ profile. Especially that she starts each day in Faith! Also her words “Once time passes you can never have it back. Stay in the present moment and don’t dwell on the future”
I have found myself going back to dresses and skirts in the last couple of years; they are feminine and comfortable. Thank you for introducing her today

  7. Juliet says

Love Nancy’s approach to blog life balance. I’ve been following her since you mentioned her fun blog name last week. How could I resist? I always say this, but I really adore this series. xo

I wasn’t familiar with Nancy. She’s beautiful and her style is so feminine. Love seeing women who dress and take pride in their appearance. Her daughter and precious granddaughters have her same lovely style. xoxox, Brenda

Who makes the white eyelet dress worn in the top left of the montage of pictures in the beginning of the article.? Thanks

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Barbara
