No Expiration Date: How Robin LaMonte is Redefining Midlife

Robin and I have never met but I have respected and admired her from afar for many years. She is a prominent lifestyle content creator, interior designer, and the founder of Influencers of Midlife, a platform and summit dedicated to empowering women over 50 to embrace style, wellness, and personal reinvention. I am super excited for you to get to know a little more about Robin. Robin and I are one of the OG’s (there aren’t too many of us left in the blogging world). Let’s dive in and enjoy No Expiration Date: How Robin LaMonte is Redefining Midlife

No Expiration Date: How Robin LaMonte is Redefining Midlife

First off, tell us a little bit about yourself and how you landed in the world of blogging, inspiring women 50+ to live boldly.

I began my blog ten years ago, as a platform to help midlife women with health, beauty, fashion, travel, and entertaining, focusing on topics relevant to those over 50.
Your motto is confidence has no age limit – have you always felt this way, or have you gained more confidence with age?

I have always been confident in every decade of my life, but now, at this stage of my life, confidence doesn’t look like proving anything. It looks like peace. I don’t shrink my opinions or soften my voice to make others comfortable anymore. At 69, confidence feels calm, grounded, and deeply rooted in self-trust.

You love all things fashion, travel, and lifestyle – how do you continue to find inspiration as a content creator through these areas of focus and what are you excited for in the new year?

I continue to find inspiration in fashion, travel, and lifestyle by staying deeply curious—and by paying attention to how my life is actually evolving.

Fashion inspires me when it reflects who I am now, not who I used to be. I’m drawn to pieces that feel timeless but modern, comfortable yet intentional. Getting dressed is still creative for me—it’s a way to express confidence, mood, and self-respect at this stage of life.

Travel fuels my creativity more quietly these days. It’s less about checking boxes and more about how a place makes me feel—the rhythm, the people, the small moments. Even short trips or seasonal traditions give me a fresh perspective and new stories to share.

Lifestyle is really where everything comes together. I’m inspired by conversations with women in my community, by how we’re redefining aging, success, and visibility after 50. Everyday life—friendships, rituals, slowing down—has become my richest source of content.

As I look ahead to the new year, I’m excited to lean even more into intentional living. Creating content that feels honest, elevated, and meaningful. Continuing to show that style doesn’t have an age limit, that curiosity keeps us vibrant, and that this chapter of life can be our most confident yet.

I’m excited to keep evolving—and to bring my audience along with me.

How has blogging/content creation changed in the many years you have been involved?

Blogging and content creation have changed dramatically since I first began; now, social media has become a shopping network where selling is more important than the conversations we have with our followers. I recently wrote about this on my Substack page.

In the early years, blogging felt slower and more personal. Posts were longer, comments were richer, and the focus was on storytelling rather than performance. You created it because you loved it, and the community grew organically around shared interests.

As social media evolved, content became faster, more visual, and increasingly algorithm-driven. Attention spans shortened, and creators were suddenly expected to promote anything offered—whether gifted or paid. While this opened doors for monetization, it also shifted the focus from creativity to consumerism.

Blogging has been my creative outlet where I’m still a storyteller and a trusted voice. That trust is my most valuable asset.

How do you continue to find inspiration for new content ideas?

I find inspiration by staying present in my own life and listening to my community. Most of my ideas come from everyday moments—how I’m dressing now, how my routines are changing, and the conversations I’m having with other women.

I don’t chase trends, but I do adapt what authentically resonates with me. Travel, reading, and slowing down give me space to reflect, and that’s often when the best ideas appear.

As long as life continues to evolve, there’s always something worth sharing.

You are the founder of @influencersofmidlife – tell us about your vision for this and what it’s all about.

The vision I had when I created the Influencers of Midlife Summit in 2019 was to empower women over 40 to reinvent themselves, stay relevant in the digital age, and build successful businesses by connecting, learning, and sharing experiences in a supportive community focused on personal growth, health, wellness, and leveraging social media for income. It’s about fostering a space for seasoned female entrepreneurs, bloggers, and creators to thrive, with educational tools and networking opportunities to help them take their platforms to the next level.

From Atlanta to Park City – what do you love most about these cities, and what travel tips would you give anyone visiting either location?

Atlanta and Park City offer two very different kinds of energy, and I love them both for various reasons.

Atlanta will always feel like home to me. I was based in Atlanta back in the 80s as a flight attendant, and I have always loved how beautiful the city was. I love its neighborhoods, the food scene, and the strong sense of community—it’s a city with soul, history, and creativity.

My tip for visiting Atlanta is to explore it like a local: spend time in neighborhoods like Buckhead, Virginia-Highland, or Inman Park, make reservations at well-loved local restaurants, and don’t try to do too much in one day. Atlanta is best enjoyed at an unhurried pace.

Park City is where I go to reset. I love the natural beauty, the seasons, and the calm that comes from being surrounded by mountains and wildlife.

It’s both energizing and grounding. My tip for Park City is to plan around the season—winter for skiing and cozy evenings, summer for hiking and festivals—and to embrace downtime. Walk Main Street, enjoy the scenery, and let the town’s rhythm slow you down.

Both places remind me that travel doesn’t have to be far to be meaningful—it just has to be intentional.

You have a daughter with Down syndrome who lives a wonderful, fulfilling, and exciting life – tell us how having a child with a disability has changed your perspective.

robin lamonte and her daughter

Having a daughter with Down syndrome has reshaped my perspective in the most meaningful way. She’s taught me to slow down, value presence over perfection, and see success through the lens of joy and connection.

She lives a full, exciting life, and through her, I’ve learned that fulfillment comes in many forms—and that embracing people exactly as they are is where real happiness lives.

Share with us how you continue to find connection in your marriage, especially when life gets busy with work!

I have always prioritized my marriage and my family before my work as a content creator. I treat social media the same way I do my interior design business. I have office hours Monday through Friday, and never post on Instagram on the weekends or holidays.

Not everything I do needs to be on public display, which is why I don’t post a lot in my stories, and you rarely see my private life.

Our marriage has stayed strong because my husband respects my work as a content creator, but it doesn’t interfere with our marriage. Not every moment needs to be captured and shared on social media.

Prioritizing our marriage isn’t always easy, but it’s what keeps our relationship grounded and strong.

Describe your sense of style in five words:

Classic, Elevated, Comfortable, Confident, Refined

Anything with leopard print, the classic white shirt, and my quiet luxury pieces, like my timeless boucle jackets. Leopard print has been around for years and has no expiration date.

Outside of your love of fashion, travel, and lifestyle, what other interests/hobbies do you have that might surprise us?

I took up skiing at 64 and paddleboarding at 68—and both have been such joyful discoveries. When we bought our home in Park City, I never once doubted that I’d enjoy skiing. Many of my friends stopped hitting the slopes in their 40s, so they were surprised when I picked it up at 64! I stick to green trails and easy blues—steep verticals aren’t for me—but at 69, I don’t need to push myself. I just want to savor the beauty of the mountains.

Paddleboarding, on the other hand, keeps me on my toes—literally! It’s a gentle challenge to my balance and a wonderful way to connect with nature.

If you could give your younger self any words of advice, what would they be?

I’d tell my younger self to trust the journey, be gentle with expectations, and never apologize for taking up space. Mistakes are lessons, growth is messy, and prioritizing your own happiness is always worth it.

Share your words to live by:

Live with intention, stay curious, and never apologize for being yourself.

  1. Cindy,
This is such a wonderful post celebrating Robin and the impact she’s made in the social media world. I’ve known her for nearly ten years now — first through social media and later meeting in person a few times — and she truly is just as lovely in real life. She has the kindest heart, always generous, encouraging, and eager to share or lend a helping hand. And of course, she’s effortlessly beautiful with an incredible eye for fashion and décor.
She’s truly a role model and inspiration for all of us women of a certain age.

  2. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but once a person hits 65, we are no longer considered mid-life, but elderly. It is a a shock to be referred to as elderly, but it is better than the alternative. I like the positive attitude towards ageing that you and women like Robyn have and especially admire your ability to look stylish and modern.

  3. Hi Cindy,
I so enjoyed reading about Robin. It’s nice reading about a person that has her cookies together. What a beautiful family you have Robin. It’s nice to see how active you are, keeps you young. Living in Park City and enjoying all the seasons and nature and all the beauty it has to offer must be very special.
Thank you Cindy for sharing Robin with us.

  4. I have been a fan of Robin for some time, but had missed that Substack article about the changes to Instagram, really much of social media. It was great. Loved this article.

    1. Hi Susan

I am so glad you enjoyed the post on Robin! As I said we have never met so it was fun for me to get to know her better as well!

  5. Interesting and inspiring post– thanks. I do agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment about many blogs being all about selling things. I understand blogging has attendant costs, but find it extremely off-putting when they are constantly offering products and links and selling, selling, selling! No disrespect meant Cindy, but for a while now your blog is much more in this vein when I believe it used to be about styling what one had. I do appreciate the effort you put in.

    1. Although I understand what you mean by the selling aspect, in Cindy’s defence, I find those posts extremely valuable as it gives great ideas how to co-ordinate an outfit. She has such a great eye for style and really appreciate her efforts, as I have now taken the plunge and bought my first Frank and Eileen jacket, a brand I was only vaguely familiar with. At least her blogs aren’t a political ear bashing

    2. I’ve dropped several bloggers recently, but mainly the ones that never have anything else to say except “buy this.” With Robin and Cindy they often have content that interests me. And, btw, I love seeing the shopping widget at the end of the post rather than throughout. Much more usable and less intrusive.

  6. Love your posts Cindy. I do have one comment. Where did this “never apologize for being yourself or taking up space” come from? I’m 5’11” so I take up a lot of space ( :-)) But I have seen these two phrases several times over the last few months on Instagram and blogs. It has never occurred to me to apologize for that. I’m 69, too. It’s a phrase I’ve never seen you use either Cindy. Just wanted to get your thoughts and others, thanks.

    1. MaryK,
Never apologize for being yourself or taking up space. comes from my perception as a woman over 60. It’s not about our size, but about midlife and the freedom not to compare ourselves. Freedom from comparison. Freedom from people-pleasing. Freedom from the exhausting need to prove your worth. You’ve lived, loved, lost, learned, and rebuilt. You’ve earned the right to stand fully in your life without apology.
Does that make sense to you?

  7. Wow—-what a powerhouse in so many areas! I love her devotion to her marriage and family. It’s so nice to read about other women our age!

  8. Great read! Thank you. Robin where is that gray tiered-sleeve linen blouse from? It’s beautiful!
