Wearing all white is the perfect way to embrace summer. It is chic, timeless, and fresh. The beauty of an all-white look is it calls out for interesting accessories. I could never wear dead white until my hair turned silver. If you are fair opt for off-white. In my humble opinion, the key to wearing all white or ivory is accessorizing with texture. You can read my post on Inexpensive Over 50 Summer Accessories here where I share my favorites. Let’s talk about How to Look Stylish in All White After 50.
If you have been reading this blog long, you know I am a huge fan of CP Shades (this is not sponsored they have never paid me or given me a thing). I just love their line. I am wearing their linen shirt (from a few years back and a favorite, the Lily Skirt with new this year Beek Sandals and my Sans Arcidet bag. All items or similar are linked below the photo.

In this photo with Summer, I am wearing another CP Shades dress from years past, with my favorite Lysee pique scalloped leggings, the same Beek sandals and inexpensive bovine bone accessories.

Here is an all white look from a few years ago with the same Lily skirt, helen Kaminski hat and an eyelet shirt from J Crew. This Rails shirt that so many of you bought is very similar if not nicer. You can find the belt on Amazon here.

Two bloggers who really know how to rock the All White look are my friend Sarah from Sarah London Style and Tamera Beardsley You can follow Sarah on Instagram here, and Tamera Beardsley here.
Love this layered look from Sarah. Note all the different textures
Love this asymmetric dress look on Sarah.
No one rocks neutrals like Tamera.
Note the textural elements in this look as well. Tamera has a gift for mixing the high and low in fashion with ease.
I hope you found some inspiration in these looks if you are considering an all white look. Thank you for reading How to Look Stylish in all White After 50. You might want to check out the articles below for more information

Hi Heidi
I think you know a bit about fashion yourself. You don’t need any help from me!!

Cindy,
All of your outfits in white are amazing. I love the pieces, including the shoes and jewelry you pull together. I found the history of ‘no white after Labor Day’ interesting. In SoCal, summer doesn’t typically end temp-wise until October, as you know. I’ve not adhered to the rule, but it always crossed my mind as I put on white capris and sandals in late September. Haha.

Hi Karen
No kidding our “summers” are August, September and October!! Isn’t that interesting how the no white after labor day started? I had no idea either.
Mary Ann Pickett says
SUPER cute in all the white looks. You are a genius at accessorizing too! Love the ponytail/earring look …I am sporting that a lot here with the heat.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Mary Ann
Whenever I have a ponytail it means I did not wash my hair that day!!

I love this post.. I mostly wear black, white on top and neutrals. I always
feel I look heavier in white pants, even though I am a size 8 but barely 5’4″,
plus I am a magnet for spills!😂AlsoI have a love hate relationship with linen !
I love it for hot weather and the look and feel of the fabric, its iron or not?
I am trying some of those hints you gave and not iron them . I live in Arizona
and its so hot, I need get back to wearing it. Anyway I went out and got white
linen wide legs, very loose looking. and a great flax funky ankle pant. I am going
to embrace some of those looks you have and see what happens. It has to
be cooler than black, even black linen.LOL! Great looks!!Thanks!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Char
I wear a lot of black too. I am a magnet for spills as well. I hope you love your linen!
Jaycee says
You are so talented in putting together these different looks with layers and interesting accessories. I note that you manage to look as cool as a cucumber, while still being fully covered. Also, your hair is a beautiful crowning accessory. Thank you for the ideas and inspiration. I love it all.
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Jaycee
What kind words. I certainly appreciate it. I am a big linen fan, I am sure you have noticed. I think if you wear gauze or linen, it is cooler than wearing shorts which I personally do not wear.
Jean says
Love all the looks! You have a great sense of style and putting pieces together. Boiler Up!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Jean
Are you a Purdue grad? Thank you so much!
Judy says
Cindy, love all the stylish and beautiful outfits on you and you carry them all so well!
I have lots of linen garments I’ve collected over the years. I don’t wear them as often as I would like and the reason is that I grew up in the generation where all clothes were starched and ironed and at my age I don’t like to iron any more. Could you share with us the present day sort of rules on how to wear them either un-ironed or ironed with starch or a finish spray or just ironed with the steam iron. . Also, how do you launder and prepare these beautiful linens to wear? Whites can get dingy over time and especially with the washing machines of today that don’t put much water in them. What is the process you might use to keep them a fresh white? Thanks!
Cindy Hattersley says
Hi Judy
Great questions! I do not iron my linens. I wash them in warm water, take them out, stretch and pull them into shape and air dry them outside. I do not use fabric softener. As far as whitening goes if mine get really dingy, I use oxy. I boil the water and throw it in the sink with whatever I need to brighten. It works wonders. Mary Ann taught me this trick for napkins (linen and cotton). I don’t iron them either. CP Shades actually sells their items wrinkled.
