Fresh Fish, Pretty Pillows, Instagram Love

Happy Sunday Everyone!  I just got my second vaccine (whoop whoop) as I am finishing this hoping not to have a terrible reaction like some of you have had. You know the drill, I am joining Annie and Mary Ann for our Sunday favorites. Welcome to Fresh Fish, Pretty Pillows, Instagram Love and more.

BLUE AND GOLD TEXTILES FROM ETSY AND OKA

A couple of readers asked if I would share an inspiration board with blues.  This is actually the board I did for my family room.  If we stay I will put them out, if not they will go to the new abode and I will share then. There are a couple that are no longer available so I had to make a couple of substitutions.  All linked below. The two gold pillows are no longer available so I made substitutions.  The throw is sold out in that color but I would contact the Etsy shop and they could probably do that color.

Steve and I have been watching the CNN special Lincoln Divided we Stand (when we can stay awake).  It is fascinating. Sterling K Brown from This is Us narrates.  We think it is wonderful. Are any of you watching?

HALIBUT IN PARCHMENT WITH CORN AND TOMATOES

Anyone up for a weight watchers friendly one-dish meal? Chef Kristin Kish’s Halibut with corn, tomatoes, and green beans is delicious.  I use TJ’s halibut if I can’t make it to the fish market.   Usually, the word one-dish meal conjures up something unhealthy, but not this one.  I am making this again tonight for dinner. I have added kalamata olives for a little interest as well

Vaccine update 16 hours and no reaction yet. AJ just reminded me of how thankful we should be of the healthcare workers and the seamless process of getting the vaccine. We drove two hours to get ours, but that was our choice as we were anxious to get it as soon as possible. CVS has done a wonderful job of stepping up to the plate and vaccinating so many.  Everyone had a smile on their face and there was nothing but positive vibes form those vaccinating and those receiving.  I can tell I had the shot if I lift my arm but that is it.  Does anyone want to weigh in on how long it took to have a reaction?  I am thinking I might be home free from what I read it usually hits 6-8 hours after you are vaccinated.  Steve gets his today fingers crossed. No outfit of the week today.  Tuesday I am joining my friend Sarah from Sarah London Style and we are going to talk about styling sneakers.  There will be lots of ideas then so stop in.  Thursday Mary Ann, Annie, and I will be joining a great group of bloggers for closet styling. It should be a fun week.

I hope you enjoyed my Sunday favorites, Fresh Fish, Pretty Pillows, Instagram Love.  Have a great week and go get vaccinated if you can.  I feel like a new woman!!

DON’T FORGET TO POP OVER AND VISIT MARY ANN AND ANNIE FOR MORE SUNDAY FUN.

    Great post, Cindy.
Has anyone taken Tylenol or ibuprofen after the 2nd shot? I’ve heard that it can help with the side-effects. Also recommended is to hydrate before and after. Getting my second one next week – yay!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Barb

I did take Tylenol after my shot. I don’t know if it had anything to do with me not having issues. They say it is perfectly fine, just do not take before.

  3. Kay says

I got my second shot a month ago, and except for a post-shot headache, it has been all good. It really does feel like a huge weight lifted off my back.

Cindy… OMG! You are so kind to mention me on your fabulous blog!!! What an honor. You are truly my style and fashion icon! Thank you for making my day!

  7. Liana says

My husband had flu like symptoms after the 2nd dose, which started about a day after he got the shot. A mild fever lasted for about 1 week. It’s said that, the younger you are, greater are the side effects from the vaccine , he is 57 by the way ..

  8. Barb L says

Great stuff (as usual). I appreciate the variety and all the work you put into these posts. I can’t tell you how much I look forward to them (especially in lockdown)! I got my 2nd shot 3 weeks ago YAY! After the first I felt a little ‘off’ for a few hours the afternoon I received it. My husband got a fever, chills and headache for a few hours the next day but that was it. Other than a little sore arm we were fine after the second. Last weekend we spent the day with our kids (healthcare providers so they’ve had vaccines too). Lunch and hugs. What a joy! Stay healthy and good luck with all you have going on.

  9. Elizabeth@pineconesandacorns says

    Good afternoon Cindy,
I am so happy that you got the 2nd vaccine and that you are feeling so good. I hope this means you will be able to reunite with your family soon.
I have not gotten one yet, not eligible yet. Hopefully soon.
Love the pillows! I hope we will see them in YOUR new place.
The fish loos good, but I do not eat anything that comes out of water.
As for Katie, she is so funny, she needs to write a book or she needs a tv show!
    Have a great night!

Cindy, I have so enjoyed your blog for the last several months and appreciate Kelley and Anita at Decorating Tips and Tricks for introducing me to you, Mary Ann, and Annie during their interview with the three of you. Your blog is so balanced in the different areas that I enjoy and I really appreciate the effort that you put into researching topics. I love your style as well as the style of your friends that you show us. I could go on and on! I also drove about 1.5 each way to get the vaccine shots to get them a little faster. I had my second on Thursday and started having fever during the night after about 12 hours. I sleep when I have fever so I slept most of the Friday. I was fine on Saturday and today and I am also so thankful to the health care workers and the TN National Guard personnel for their assistance in the process! Thanks,

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Linda

I can’t tell you how much I appreciate all of you. You are my people. I know that sounds weird but I feel like we are a community of women with similar interests and passions. We want to age gracefully and stylishly, we want our homes to be our havens, and we know who we are. I learn so much from all of you everyday. You are my inspiration. I keep counting the hours I don’t know why. It’s been over 28 hours (told you I was counting). Being an over-researcher I read everything. I know it hits women and young people harder, and those who have had covid. I keep thinking if I am not having a reaction does that mean I am old and my immune system is poor? I don’t think so. I am rarely sick, don’t take a single medication, and have low if anything blood pressure. I was blessed with healthy genes from both my parents. I never remember either of them ever being sick.

Cindy love this post. I have the Lincoln show on my watch list. Your pillows are beautiful. So much to love. I have to get some of those hand block pillows from Etsy- gorgeous. I love Preppy and CJ – so fun to follow these ladies. Looking forward to your post for ideas I am working on my closet too. xo

Ordered pillow covers from Amazon after your Thurs spruce up and can’t wait for them to come.
The sneaker thing will be fun but when you wear 9 1/2 most of the ones I’ve tried look like boats.

  13. Susan Kelley says

Glad you were able to get the 2nd shot. One feels so much better when that has been done.My arm was shore at the site for about a week. Then 2 days later I had a flu light spell for 24 hrs. not sure if that was a delayed reaction or not. But fine now. Always enjoy your posts. So many good ideas and inspirations. Thanks.

  14. Linda says

Love your posts and look forward to them. My first shot resulted in just a sore arm for about 4 days. The second shot the sore arm was less, a little swollen and itchy. The second day I had a low grade temp and was tired but it was gone the next day. So worth it.

  15. Susan says

Beautiful pillows. Would someone please tell me why people chop the middle of throw pillows? Just curious.

    Thanks!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Susan

I am a pillow chopper. You should read up on it. It is really quite funny chopper vs. non chopper. I think they look less stiff chopped but team no chop would say otherwise!!

  16. home before dark says

So glad you are doing so well with your second shot. My husband got his second Friday morning. By midnight it was chills, slight fever and feeling totally exhausted. Sunday morning all better. Mine over two weeks ago was not fun more stomach issues and the last of it was facial swelling like I get from insect bites. Glad it’s over!!! We’re are still masking up and staying away from others and staying in until the spring variant that is now taking over Europe is better understood.

Katie looks like my late MIL and with a similar sense of humor. Born in 1915, she grew to be 5’10” and was quite the Miss Manners…who also rolled beer bottles off the roof of the Theta house when she was in college! Go Katie!

    • Nan says

Just wondering, but when I tried to schedule my first shot online last week in Tennessee, I got the message to “consult with my physician about the potential risks associated with the COVID vaccine” and was unable to schedule it due to allergic reactions I reported that I had in my past- from medications, cat dander/saliva, cosmetics. Have you or other followers had this issue with scheduling or getting the vaccine, due to allergies?

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Patricia

I think I already answered this but it disappeared. You had me scared I must say. I guess I either got lucky or my immune system stinks!!

  17. Shari says

Second shots, yay! I had just a “jet laggy” feeling and put ice on the arm and was good to go! My Mr. got hit hard though with chills, fever and exhaustion! But…lasted a day and a half when the fever broke! He’s right as rain now!
We feel set free! What a wonderful thing it will be to hug our grands in a week!
I love you collected styles and the way you incorporate vintage treasures with updates! Your blog is a great treat!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Shari

So happy you all are vaccinated and thank you so much for the kind comment!

Hi Cindy, I always enjoy your Sunday morning posts. I received my 2nd vaccine two weeks ago at 4:30 pm with Kaiser here in the Palm Springs area. They were absolutely great!! As for the shot, it hit me the next day around 9am. Unfortunately, for two days I was very tired, chills and a headache. By Monday morning I was good and so grateful. It’s such a freeing feeling and I feel so grateful.

  20. Leslie says

Hi every one! There’s an ever growing club of us that are fully vaccinated and trying to figure out what we can do now and who else has been vaccinated so we can make plans. Cindy I hope you have no side effects from shot number two. I had them all and they started about 10 hours following. I was leveled. But happy to report I was fine two days later and very grateful for the vaccine. I was practically kissing the ground the nurses walked on. First time I ever looked forward to having a jab. Enjoy your new freedom.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Leslie

No kidding I feel exactly the same as you as far as the jab goes. I am at 18 hours post shot so far nothing but I know it can be delayed! As you said small price to pay I will take it!!

  21. Lorrie Bredal says

Hi Cindy. Always look forward to Sunday morning and your posts. Follow all others and get inspiration from them always. Thank you.
As for the vaccine I got mine at 4:00 pm and didn’t get a reaction until 11:00am the next day. I was very tired took a nap and thought I was done. Around dinner time started getting the chills and aches. Went to bed and slept for 10 hours. That was that. But more spread out than I expected. Hope all will be well for you.
    Lorrie

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Lorrie

I am going on the 18-hour mark and no symptoms yet, but happy to deal with whatever in order to have the vaccine!! Sounds like you survived, hip hip hooray!!

  22. Janet Arden says

Congratulations on your second shot! We get ours tomorrow. (I can’t believe I’m so excited about getting a shot.) Also enjoying Lincoln. Such a complex man & time. Ha! We may be sisters from different mothers: I also follow CJ Swank and Katie! Have a great week!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Janet

I know what you mean I practically skipped in to get my second one. So glad you enjoy Katie and follow CJ as well “sister from another mother”!

  23. AJ says

I had my 2nd vaccine 3 weeks ago. The process was fast and upper organized and all those workers at the vaccination site were amazing! A great Thank You to all of them! When I received my first shot, it felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders. Still wearing my mask, washing my (poor, dry!) hands, and distancing when in public, but making plans for get togethers. Seems like the last year lasted forever, but also went very fast. Found your site durning lockdown and always enjoy reading it Thanks for brightening my week.

    • susan Klusmann says

Lovely- you always make me want to redecorate! I hope you include your bunion people in your sneaker post- what a challenge they are and shoes are so important. Slides are sooo cute and the doctors say they are so bad for your feet, as are post-toe shoes- what say you?? How do you manage them? Thanks for your always lovely posts- a lot of work on your part!

      • Cindy Hattersley says

        Hi Susan
Absolutely they will be bunion accommodating. I certainly do not walk around all day long in slides although the Artemis ones are so solid on the foot they aren’t really like a slide. I have walked in them all day, I have to admit a time or two. I don’t wear any uncomfortable shoes anymore. They have to be comfy but hopefully stylish!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi AJ
I completely agree with the health care workers. Thank you for reminding me to thank them. We are continuing to mask up and social distance as well. In a couple weeks our entire family (except little Summer) will be vaccinated, what a relief that will be.

  24. Alexis I says

Thank you for sharing your pillow refresh ideas – I need to do the same for my living room and I will be checking out Etsy. The halibut dish looks yummy, cooking fish intimidates me. I had both of my vaccine shots, and my only reaction after both of them started on the next day, and it was some redness and minimal soreness, like a bruise. The soreness lasted about 3 days. Onward to working on a better year!

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Alexis

I used to be intimidated by cooking fish as well. Cooking in parchment is a great way to test the waters. You really can’t mess up!! I am hoping my reaction is like yours. I feel like most of those that got really sick got hit in the first eight hours or so. Crossing my fingers and grateful to have it regardless. Cheers to Summer and gatherings again.
