Five Faves Gardens Kitchen Inspo & More

Hi everyone.  Welcome to Mary Ann, Annie and my Sunday favorites.  It looks like we really will be moving.  The new owners are coming today.  It’s been a busy week.  I will be back on Tuesday with my outfit of the week, since you all think it deserves a day of it’s own. Let’s take a look at my five faves gardens kitchen inspo & more.

30 AWESOME SMALL GARDEN IDEAS

We are starting to work on our small town garden. I am looking for ideas for small gardens that will be somewhat low maintenance.  We may be renting this house once we leave or we might be selling if the market is still crazy. Here are some great small garden ideas from Gardenholic.

FIXER UPPER KITCHEN INSPIRATION BOARD

Yes we are moving.  We are fixing up one of our rentals and moving in until we find a place we want to move.  We are working on the kitchen and bath now.  Here is the inspiration board for the kitchen.  The farmhouse sink will have to be a retrofit because we don’t want to tear out the existing cabinets. All items linked below the post except for the sconce here.

This little house is a Spanish Revival, the original cabinets are actually nice.  We are tearing out the tile that we did 30 years ago and replacing the counter with Arctic white quartz from Caesarstone, the walls will be Benjamin Moore white dove throughout (I think). The cabinets will be painted Farrow and Ball’s shaded white. We will retrofit the sink with a farmhouse option (Linked below).  I am hoping to do the backsplash in Tabarka Meditteranean 2.  It is pricey so I may lose on this one.  Their tile is perfect for a Spanish revival home.  I used it on my kitchen update in our current home several years ago and absolutely love it. You can read about that here, and here. You can also see it in my kitchen here. I am a firm believer in not turning a house into something it isn’t.  Down the road it will be regretted if you do.

Your garden is absolutely glorious, Cindy! So glad you have a place to land and a project on top of it! Your soft color palette for the kitchen is lovely … looking forward to seeing it all come together! xo

      Hi Juliet
Thank you so much. I have been watching your small garden design!

Well, you have a lot on your plate(s)! Love the kitchen ideas. Don’t know if you are choosing the Thor range now for “looks” or it it’s The One! My cautionary tale: make sure you have someone in area who can work on this. I bought Miele dishwasher and double oven, top of the line, but the “line” broken down when the best appliance store in our town first stopped selling Miele, then closed local store, then move entirely out of serving the appliances they sale. My very expensive Miele dishwasher touted to last for decades hasn’t worked since BEFORE Thanksgiving!!! The Miele oven had similar woes, but happened before the world closed down on Miele world. I know you like gas, but I’d rather have an induction top with an electric convection than a gas top with a gas convection (have never heard good things about this!). Love the garden ideas. So much to consider with water, changes in ranges, easier maintenance and still give you a place of beauty. If any one can rise to the challenge, it’s you two. You two have great skills for this obviously. My lovely retired lawyer who oversaw university endowment funds would not be the one to call in for demo, construction, rebuild! Can’t wait to see your new world.

      Hi Patricia

Steve’s words exactly. We had to check with the appliance guy to make sure it could be serviced in the area. That is really strange about Miele. I would say 90% of the dishwashers sold in our area are Bosch and Miele. We had a stove at the lake that was an off brand and had a hard time getting it repaired as well. Our new world will be simple for now!!

Double check Shaded White in your room. Depending on the light it can be an ugly mint green. Expensive poor choice for me.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Trish

Thank you so much. I will not make the final decision until I see the tile in person! I had that problem with another F&B that went green on me. Thanks for the heads up. I really appreciate it, as paint is certainly not cheap these days.

Wishing you lots of good health and rest during this time of transition. Be well & enjoy the time with family.

      Hi Mimi

Thank you so much for your kind thoughts. We certainly have our hands full.

  6. Annie Diamond says

Cindy! Like Mary Ann said…exciting, but stressful! Your kitchen inspiration board is absolutely gorgeous and your city garden idea….or is that it currently?/ LOVE!!!

  7. Kelley Motschenbacher says

OMG. That was fast! Well at least you have a house all ready for you and you know it so it will take a bit of the stress off. Keep in touch. I’m guessing your might move closer to the coast? Either way its all good and so happy for you and this fun new adventure! xxoo Kelley

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Kelley

We hope to end up in Paso but will be in Salinas for a couple of years. I am going to be studying your town garden. You have done such an amazing job!!

  8. elizabeth says

Cindy, first your garden looks fabulous! I am sure that the new place is going to be even better and probably more manageable. I cannot wait to see this kitchen! We too are moving except at this point we have no idea where, I am not sure I wan to be a nomad but such is life.
Thank you for the feature, my Friday favorites post is my favorite post becauseI always find so many interesting people to feature. As for the pasta, it was delicious as is everything Cooking for Keeps makes. The dress, I ordered it and I will let you know how it looks. I am a little worried because I think it might be too goofy but we shall see. Have a wonderful day and thank you again my friend.

    • Cindy Hattersley says

      Hi Elizabeth

I think that dress is a work of art. If I could wear it I would be all over it! I bet it will be darling on you. Ha! We are nomads too…we are moving into one of our rentals! So glad to hear about the pasta. I could eat pasta every meal ….if only I could!!

  9. Robin says

As Mary Ann said, your garden looks so beautiful, and I, too, love the ideas for the kitchen. I hope you are going to share the process of the renovation, and the garden. By the way, Kelley Motschenbacher has done an amazing landscape on her current home and she has a recent blog post on it. I love everything both of you do; serious talent!!
