My Friend Brenda’s Memoir

This is going to be a good read ladies. My friend Brenda whom many of you follow from 1010 Park Place has published her memoir. I have a few insider tips and it sounds like a read you will not be able to put down. Here is what they are saying “Brenda Coffee’s book is climbing the charts and it’s not even out yet. Available for PRE-ORDER on AmazonMaya Blue a Memoir of Survival was a fairy tale until it wasn’t. Until her husband, the founder of two high-profile, groundbreaking public companies, began making real cocaine in their basement. Until the Big Six tobacco companies threatened their lives for creating the first smokeless cigarette—Brenda coined the terms vape and vaping—and the brutal Guatemalan military commandos forced her into the jungle at gunpoint. MAYA BLUE A Memoir of Survival is Working Girl meets Taken, and in the end, she was the last one standing”. I cannot wait to read it!!

Roasted Green Beans from the Kitchn

I always parboil my green beans quickly, immerse them in an ice bath, and then toss with olive oil, garlic and almonds . Why have I never roasted green beans?. These roasted green beans from the Kitchn are delicous and simple! I forgot to take a picture sorry, but here is their photo.

Outfits of the Week

I have been eyeing this fabulous poncho from Ralph Lauren. I love the pretty blend of autumnal hues. You could easly dress this up with gray flannel pants and a dressier bootie. I have been coveting these cowboy boots that come in wide! The cashmere turtleneck is from Quince, as well as this great suede crossbody bag.

      1. Hi Diney!

I checked in mailchimp and you are not on the list. I had a glitch in my email system awhile back, which confused a lot of people, including me ha ha. Many unsubscribed because they thought they were double subscribed. Then what happens is I cannot opt you in. At any rate here is the link to resubscribe https://cindyhattersleydesign.com/newsletter/

  2. On my first visit to Victoria (Australia) from my home state, South Australia, I was shocked to see so many houses built from timber and thought how ugly they were. I am afraid a barn house is my idea of a nightmare – all that exposed timber – think, termites and bush fires. On a high note though, I have been making some of the recipes you have on your website and they have been so tasty. Can’t wait to try the green bean salad

    1. Hi Susan

We had old beams in our former home. They have to be fumigated before you can use them here in the United States, so it isn’t usually an issue. Before my husband retired he used a lot of old flooring and beams in his designs. I am glad you are enjoying the recipes!

  3. I read about Brenda’s book in her post this week…..BUT I HAD NO IDEA!
    Wow – I have preordered it. Geez – and I think I’ve been through some shit… 😳
Brenda – “strong woman” doesn’t begin to cover it…..💪🏼

  4. How did anyone over 12 years old climb into those top bunks?! Other than that, it is a warm lovely barn house. I am definitely voting for casual for the holidays. I have new flare leg jeans, and four new flannel shirts. I have all my winter clothes out and a good thing as we got 18 inches of snow over 3 1/2 days here in Colorado! Winter has arrived.

  5. My best friend has just converted an old barn in England and it looks incredible. Gorgeous original wood beams and construction! Lovely post Cindy xo

  6. Thank you sweet friend for including my memoir in your post. After all this time, I can’t believe it’s finally ready for pre-order on Amazon. Unfortunately, the link you’ve included doesn’t work. Perhaps your readers can try this one. xoxox, Brenda

    1. Hi Brenda

It works now! So sorry…I have had a busy week and had eight people for brunch and the game!

  7. Your first outfit would be perfect here in Austin. I want those boots! And Brenda’s book. She is one tough cookie!

    1. One tough cookie! LOL! My memoir will explain how I got that way. Why I’ve always written about survival. Why we need to find our voice and make ourselves heard. Our voices are the most powerful tool we have. xoxox, Brenda

    2. Hi Mary Ann

I thought of you with these boots. The heel is low enough to be comfortable but gives just a bit of height!!

  8. Cindy- I love barn houses. We almost bought one in new canaan several years ago. I still walk by that house… and think… what if…
    Roasting green beans…brilliant idea!
Can’t wait to read Brenda’s memoir!
